So with NaNoWriMo only 5 days away, I wanted to make this guild where we can converse about either our writing techniques or plans for this year's NaNoWriMo.

If you have no idea what NaNoWriMo is then let me break it down for you. During the entire month of November, a bunch of writers try (and most succeed) to write 50,000 words within 30 days.

awww, but that would require PUTTING you in my story... and I'm not sure I can do that.

I do need some help though. I've got 4, technically 5 options I could work on. I can't decide which. One person gave me a very convincing argument to work on #3, but I've had a couple of votes for #2 so far.
What do some other NaNo-ers think?

How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo? 6 years. I've only won 2, however.

This year I'm rewriting a novel I began this past summer that I currently have a little over 30k written for. I'm changing it to third person (it's currently first) and adding in a few characters. I'll be honest, it's not something I'm particular stoked about, as the flames of excitement in starting something new has begun dimming, but I told myself when I started writing it in June that this would be THE novel. The one I would finally finish. So I'm determined.

I do need some help though. I've got 4, technically 5 options I could work on. I can't decide which. One person gave me a very convincing argument to work on #3, but I've had a couple of votes for #2 so far.
What do some other NaNo-ers think?

I think I like #3 the best because I can see a lot of potential for it and I'm drawn to different things. I also like #2, mainly because I enjoy warrior/mercenary type female characters. They've always been some of my own favorites to write. #4 is also interesting. I like the premise and the dark undertones, as well as the dark characters. Dark fantasy is at the top of the scale for me.

So as you can see...I don't know You have some good ideas going on. If I HAD to choose, probably #3?

How many years have you participated in NaNoWriMo? Last year was the first year I tried, and I failed horribly, so here's hoping this year is better.

Last year I was only at like, 8,000 after the first week (so I was already behind), but then my computer crashed and took half of what I wrote with it (this year I have google drive, which makes backing things up easier), so then I just gave up.

This year, I'm going to write one of those urban fantasy/detective stories a la The Dresden Files style. There's a good chance that it might just devolve into a huge mess though, since a mystery with no planning is generally not a good idea...

TNHawke, they all sound so interesting! I would vote for 3, since it seems really well planned out and you should go for it! (I would also vote for 5, because a fresh start can also be fun. ) 2 might not be the best for NaNo, because I don't know about you, but if I was pressed for time and didn't know what I wanted my characters to do next, I would just give them a lot silly, pointless fetch quests, like those quests in RPGs that you don't really enjoy doing but do anyway for the XP sort of thing.
