The Datoringula resides deep in the Jungle of Raza. The large herbivore constantly emits a fragrant scent that attracts insects to it, who devour the purple nodes on its back, neck, tail, and head. This does not harm the Datoringula, as the nodes regrow at a steady rate. In return, the colony of insects protect the larger creature from predators who would dearly love to feast on the sweet inner flesh of the Datoringula. To keep up with its resident colony's (and it's own) needs, the Datoringula feeds on the soft fruits of the Jungle, and occasionally will eat the flowers if food is scarce. As a secondary defense, the Datoringula will use its large size to slam into foes. The green hide is much harder than the purple nodes, although this, too, is apparently edible.
Oddly, the nodes taste like marshmallows...
