Adult meo are masters at manipulating water, though only in one form - meo may can only summon shape mist or convert water sources into clouds, while meo nuoc can only condense vapor or shape existing water. In addition, ice seems to confound both types, leading to some speculation that there is another type of yet undiscovered meo. They are highly adept at the form they do control, though, with such fine mastery that meo owners will often train them to make lovely cloud or water patterns, and some collaborate to have their cats put on shows to welcome the coming spring. Particularly well-trained meo might even be able to shape words, though this is uncommon and their vocabularies are usually very limited.
Ohh, the Meo May adults stole my heart just like I expected them to! I really love the male Nuoc, too, but I used my last shards on the Mays.
What beautiful dreamy kitties, I just love them.

especially since this lunar new year is the year of the cat in vietnam! it isnt acknowledged very often since it seems like not a lot of people know; seeing these pets has a special place in my heart. i really appreciate them ;_;
its probably already obvious from the description and artwork + the revealed hatchling sprites but the literal translation is
meo nuoc = water cat
meo may = cloud cat
you can probably guess why the word for cat in viet is "meo" haha
Mysfytt drew these gorgeous kitties when staff found out that there was a zodiac split
Also, I'm glad the names landed, since I am not Vietnamese and so this was very much a case of hoping Google translate didn't lead me astray! I was very worried in particular that stripping out the accents would change the meanings too much. Google claimed that meo may could mean "lucky cat" so I took that and ran with it a little.
aw, that makes me really happy to hear! you and mysfytt did a wonderful job with the design and description of this creature and yup youre right, changing/removing accents does change the meaning of the word sometimes- but its fine here, even without the accents its clear what each element is cat is supposed to be
