I enjoy fantasy. particularly in the realm of Magic and based around Magical or supernatural concepts though I also like to dip my toes into crime fiction too, though I have a really bad habit of figuring out who the culprit is about halfway through the book.
I also like a mix of the two, been reading alot of the Dresden Files, the magical twists really make the actual mystery harder to solve but it's interesting seeing how magic works in a world more based off ours.
Which genre of books is the most interesting?

Re: What Type of Books is the Most Interesting?
I enjoy reading Non-fiction most, I think

I'm a huge fantasy fan, and science fiction is fantastic, but mystery is surprisingly good.

Uhhh I think this is a dead thread, but I really enjoy 'realistic' fantasy (in the sense of like? GoT? like people usually die for real and mythological creatures are scary). I SUPER enjoy the Witcher series,

I'll side with Fantasy and Horror, I do so like a good scare.

I like 'speculative fiction' (science fiction, fantasy, and related genres) much more than other genres.
To some extent, all fiction is unrealistic. Some of it acknowledges that, and some doesn't. I feel like stories that dismiss that illusion - even if they're like hard sci-fi and stick to the laws of reality as much as possible - tend to make more interesting points and more entertaining stories.

I'm particularly fond of historical fiction, myself! Paranormal is also interesting.

Encyclopedias. I enjoy non-fiction. Theology, mythology, demonology, cryptozoology, alchemy, fairy tales, lots of ologies. Novels are a little bit too long for my attention span.

I'm with Goldenwings. I prefer to read novels that are considered to be more classical/ traditional. Once, when I was in Barnes and Nobles, I found an entire section with a bunch of classics (Pride & Prejudice, Tarzan, Sherlock Holmes, Shakespeare) and I nearly died. I don't think they are boring at all. x3
