The CDP

Catergory: Lore

You find an abandoned book with intricate designs on the cover, featuring many people that have strange looking features. There are doodles of flowers and smiley faces on the cover, and a name written in blue ink. The name begins with Aliz. The rest seems to be illegible.

Once upon a time, all the races of reality lived peacefully together. We were happy, and existed in harmony. However, there was a particular race... humans. Humans were not like us. They were divided among themselves, their moralities and culture wildly different from each other. They were the innovators, the inventors, the explorers... but they were also the conquerors. They were not like the hectic but peaceful arths, nor were they like the strong-headed but reclusive reols. We should've known.

Humans were a powerful race. While they did not possess any special abilities other than their resonance, they adopted excellently. They were the only race that can use resonance that wasn't their own, by adopting and learning through ways that we simply cannot achieve. Their exemplary spirit made them difficult to kill. But everything in this universe exists for a reason, including humans and their violent nature. We should've known.

Humans fought amongst their own kind. For territory, for goods, for glory. However, once they made it to the portals, we quickly helped them to achieve harmony among themselves. Their countries formed into an alliance- the coalition of nations. The CN, for short. We watched as their power and political influence grew. Looking back, it's true that the divide among their own kind was the only thing between humans and ultimate power. We should've known.

It was too late when we realized what was happening. The weaker, smaller worlds were soon conquered through sheer force. Then, they moved on to the larger worlds. They spread diseases, pumped poison into water and the air, they destroyed everything they came into contact with and took the land as their own. Before we knew, the humans- the CN- had formed an empire. A great, powerful empire that sprawled its way throughout the multi-verse, dominating the majority of our reality. We should've known.

We were forced to reach for the overseer's help. It's unbelievable how powerful the empire had become, for even the entire universe united could not defend against them. But desperate time called for desperate measures. The humans had too much power. And so, the overseer took away their resonance. They no longer possessed the amazing abilities that they once had. Their time flowed much, much slower than the time in our world. But it wasn't enough. We should've known.

Their technology grew advanced enough to detect and harvest resonance, and soon, they struck again. Humanity is dangerous when it has a common goal. The overseer once again defeated them, and sent them back to their world. However, we knew this peace wouldn't last long. We should've known.

The CDP- the Continental Domination Project was formed for this reason. If they were going to attack, the only way would be to defeat them before they defeat us. Every forty years- which was just under the time humans take to develop the technology- we must travel to their world and wipe them out. However, our morality could not allow us to erase their race completely, so we left small bits of their race to reproduce each time. It was a mistake. We should've known.

Soon enough, they started fighting back with resonance. It's not clear how they developed the ability to manipulate resonance again, but they did. Some say that it was because some of us stayed with them- traitors- and reproduced. In the end, a new operation had to be formed. Immersive wars were meant to take little lives, but they did gather all humans in one place. And we only have one wish- to gain shadow counter-parts of every human present in the battle. but there were consequences. We should've known.

Immersive Wars were not meant to happen frequently. There was not meant to be two speeds of which time flowed. The Inbetweens grew unstable as days passed, and it was threatening the overseer, along with the entire system of portals and resonance. The only answer was to remove the immense amount of energy and chaos caused by the immersive wars. and so, some humans were given the ability to go back in time. But caused more problems. They have information that they shouldn't. They can travel back to fix their mistakes and tell everyone what they know. We should've known.

Now, my collegues, the humans are fighting back against us, against their punishment. The Overseer is obligated to help them and their requests, and if we allow this to continue, the humans will strike someday, once again. We must defeat them before they defeat us. The FACDP has become a highly populated branch of the CN, and they are a massive threat. We must never let the past tragedies of the human empire happen again.
We already know.

You close the book and tuck it into your bag. From afar, the green-haired women looks at you. You beckon her with your eyes for an explanation, but she does not seem to understand. She tilts her head, and cacti springs out from her shoulder, bending in absurd shapes. She appears to be trying to entertain you.

This will be a difficult on to explain to them.
