FINAL RISE (WIP

Final Rise
Like an eagle… Speed. Like an eagle. Concentrate. Breathe. Like an eagle. Come on. Like an eagle. The words you just read were the thoughts that Thorn, a Misty Roar dragon, thought. Misty Roars are EXTREMELY FAST. “SPEED!” Thorn yelled as he zoomed through the sky, swishing his tail. He had won the Draconic Clock Cup! He could now take home the clock that sees all, and tells the future. He could now go anywhere. He could now do anything. He could now see anything. He could now- “ROLL THE FERN CAREMELS IN THE COOLING WATER!” screamed his mother. Gosh, just like his mother to interrupt him. Thorn was adopted by a family of wild dashund dogs, so a dragon like him couldn’t move a muscle in flight without doing humble chores. Speed mattered to Misty Roars. Chores mattered to short, long worms with ears. The old sausage dog and fifty-four pups were religious, so they believed in the disturbance of the world from flapping wings and burning grass. So over the years they had turned Thorn into a dog, like them. They also believed something called the Final Rise was coming up, so they had to make things like Lemon Pepper juice and caramel ferns. Thorn didn’t know why, but they all tasted like grass. He wished he could go do Dragonaire Elementary, that way he could have normal friends. At least he had Acacia Lake View Dog school. Yes, he was a dragon, but his mother couldn’t afford a posh dragon school AND food for fifty-four pups. Well, he did have Mitzi, who was a kelpie crossed with a border collie, and Burn, the ACTUAL border collie. Thorn and his friends had to walk the pups to the school. “Don’t you think we should take the shortcut?” Mitzi asked wearily. “I would LOVE to, but Trixy, Bixy, Lixy, Twiglet, Spotlet, Mitlet, Triplet, Zippy, Tippy, Nippy, Wotnot, Pitpot and all the other dashund pups want to see the statue of the moon.” Replied Thorn.
