Sent vs Outbox
Re: Sent vs Outbox
Outbox = you sent the message, but it hasn't been read
Sent = you sent the message, and it has been read
Sent = you sent the message, and it has been read

Re: Sent vs Outbox
The message may not have been read even if it shifts to the Sent folder. The message will move from the Outbox to the Sent folder when the receiver visits their inbox and the sent message can be seen there (well, the subject moreso), even if the receiver doesn't read the message at that moment.Imposibibble wrote:Outbox = you sent the message, but it hasn't been read

I'm pretty sure that the message has to be clicked on- whether the person who clicked actually reads it or not is a whole different matter. Just seeing the inbox doesn't mark the messages as read, why should it move them to the sent box?

Re: Sent vs Outbox
I thought the whole difference is that the outbox is pending to be sent, and sent means it's actually been sent to the recipient- regardless of whether it's been read or not..?

Re: Sent vs Outbox
During the server crash when lots of PMs were sent to Tristan & co. I think Morgaln stated that it appeared to be so that once the messages no longer showed as numbers in the "x amount new messages" on the top the sent messages moved to the Sent frolder from the Outbox even though they hadn't had the time to read every message. The number vanishes with just going to the Inbox whether or not the message is actually read (as long as there's room in the Inbox to receive the message). So I'd think the Outbox/Sent division isn't that much about the receiver reading the message as it is about receiving the message. When it's in the Outbox, it's waiting for delivery and once it's in the Sent folder it's been delivered to the recipients Inbox, whether or not they've clicked it open or read it.TNHawke wrote:I'm pretty sure that the message has to be clicked on- whether the person who clicked actually reads it or not is a whole different matter. Re: Sent vs Outbox
Shall we test it and find out? If we send each other a PM, but don't read it, just click to view the inbox, then we can see if it shows in the sent or outbox.
Tested- and Rosehill was right! I stand corrected, and glad of it.

So, in short it's basically the same as mobile texting and other forum PM's?TNHawke wrote:Shall we test it and find out? If we send each other a PM, but don't read it, just click to view the inbox, then we can see if it shows in the sent or outbox.

Outbox - pending to be sent. (IE, no credit / signal on mobile/cell-phone)
Sent - message reached person
