I figured. As I said, it does mean having to buy them again, from Steam. Before Steam I bought Age of Mythology three-four times on disk because I kept losing them, so having to pay for it AGAIN was really irritating, especially since I still had it on disk, having just bought it one more time, only to find out that it didn’t work on my new laptop.CinnaminDraconna wrote:All of mine are on CD's.. they weren't downloaded.. Why would I want to download them.. and pay for them again.. when they aren't compatible with Windows 10?

Re: How Was Your Day Thread V5
You still can play old games on your computer. There are several ways to go around the OS issue.
1) Use Emulator
(as far you don't download games illegally, this method is legal!)
2) Use VMware
VMware is a virtualization program. There is a lot of youtube videos that show how to run the systems you need, and even people who show how to run old games using that program.A friend of mine that uses Linux uses this program to play some games on his laptop :3

Thanks AC.. will have to find a vid for a Win10 VM. I can follow directions (usually, lol) but that vid is for W7, and I never used W7. I skipped straight from WXP to W10.

If you won't be able to find directions for W10 on youtube, just try searching on google. Most of the functions and programs have the same name, the only difference is that they are located in different places
Good luck!

Re: How Was Your Day Thread V5
Most older games on Steam have been reworked so they are compatible with newer versions of windows. The store page will tell you whether or not they are. Even if they're not, the steam community likely has figured out a way to make them work on newer versions anyway.
The good thing about steam is, once you buy the game, it is yours forever. No matter how often you switch computer, you'll always be able to download it again free of charge. No scratched disks, no lost CD keys, all you need is an account. And if you have steam cloud enabled, you'll even be able to continue your save games right where you left off. Of course that changes if Steam ever goes out of business (which is not likely to happen anytime soon), but until then, it is a very useful platform.

Yes. That. I was really tired last night, so I was having a hard time expressing that. Thank you.

I generally consider myself smarter than a 7-year-old, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put together the base for the giant T. rex model I got for Christmas.
