FAQ: The Frequently Asked Questions thread (Updated Nov 2023)
Re: FAQ: The Frequently Asked Questions thread (Update Sept)
I've seen adult animals labeled "frozen" how is this possible?
Re: FAQ: The Frequently Asked Questions thread (Update Sept)
Typically a bug or delay in site update - someone trying to freeze a high-percentage creature and just as they do someone gives it that last click it needs to grow up. Unless they're pygmy phoenixes. Those are in a weird position because they are actually hatchlings - there is no adult stage for them. So percentage-wise they are adults (100%) but site behavior treats them as hatchlings (no breeding, and freezable).

Re: FAQ: The Frequently Asked Questions thread (Update Sept)
Would it be possible to add at least the gender option "other?" To be honest I found the option "kraken" funny but without knowing the intent I can't be sure it isn't making fun of nonbinary genders

Hi, I've been around on Magistream for quite some while now, almost since the beginning actually, so if you don't mind me providing my opinion on the subject.Toadby wrote:Would it be possible to add at least the gender option "other?" If you believe that Magistream doesn't provide an option to accurately represent what one may define themselves as you can simply opt to not display your gender at all. In fact, there are various users who don't although they do define themselves as male, female, or kraken. I can ensure you that Magistream is a very open and accepting community and that no ill will is meant to anyone, regardless of what their background may be.
If you're so inclined to let people know how you (not you specifically, whoever that wants to) define themselves, they can simply state what that on their Profile or in their Signature. No one is stopping anyone from being true to themselves, it's simply that why should gender matter that much on a egg-clicking website? If anything, providing multiple additional options may only serve to isolate certain members of the community.
That said, I'm not necessarily an advocate for gender nor do I follow it too closely, so I apologize if I offended you.
I hope this helps clear up your answer.

Pygmy Phoenixes are not freezable even though they display the freezing option, because the site treats them specifically as adults in that regard.Myrin wrote:Typically a bug or delay in site update - someone trying to freeze a high-percentage creature and just as they do someone gives it that last click it needs to grow up. Frozen adults cannot be obtained by trying to freeze a high-percentage hatchling and it gaining the final click at the same time.
Frozen adults are only the result of site crashes or some other very specific conditions.
Re: FAQ: The Frequently Asked Questions thread (Update Sept)
My bad. I seem to recall someone saying they tried to freeze a hatchling and ended up with a frozen adult, but memory is fuzzy and could easily be wrong.
I have 10 frozen pygmy phoenixes in my keep currently. Got them from another user, so I suppose it's possible they requested frozen ones in the MS Rapture recovery. Just assumed their original owner had actually frozen them. Never tried myself since they can't grow up anyway.

Re: FAQ: The Frequently Asked Questions thread (Update Sept)
The Rapture Recovery is probably the most likely way to have gotten them. I've got two frozen adults that I got from the recovery and I only put to request them as frozen to see what would happen. Frozen adults are still able to breed, which is kinda funny.Myrin wrote:My bad. I Would like to know if I could trade an item with other, such as, for example an alicanto heart.

No. You can trade creatures to use items on, though.Amneashea wrote:I Would like to know if I could trade an item with other, such as, for example an alicanto heart.
