hm..rather yum than yuck, but not a "full" yum.

Black pudding with eggs and baked beans.

(I absolutely dislike black pudding, which in Germany is named: Blood sausages. But eggs and beans are awesome.
I'm so curious about pecan pie one of you has mentioned above. I've never eaten it before, but I love anything sweet with nuts. Sounds and looks so delicious. I've never had corn syrup either, which I found as an ingredient in a typical American pecan pie recipe. I've even never seen it in Germany or anywhere else in Europe where I've been. Corn Syrup is a typical american thing, it seems, as pecan pie is, too. I think pecan pie might be even more awesome with maple syrup? Does corn syrup just taste sweet or does it have a strong taste of its own?

@gummiphrog If you ever consider to try fava beans, you should know that they're the kind of thing you either love or hate. Because of their own unique taste, which I really love. And they are most amazing in combination with bacon in some kind of cream sauce with dill and mashed potatoes. In Germany we usually eat them in exactly this combination, together with smoked pork cutlets. "Kasseler Koteletts". Typical German dish. But Hannibal Lecter liked them too. :yey:  In Silence of the lambs he talks about Fava Beans and uhm...liver... :t-hugme:

I wonder if mashed potatoes are really the exact translation for what we call Kartoffel Püree? I am sure, it's not, but Kartoffel Püree/potatoe puree is a must in combi with fava beans. And it becomes perfect if you add a dark sauce to the potatoe puree, made in the pan in which you fried the cutlets. Slowly but surely this is becoming a gourmet thread. :D )
