Mira really should have been more wary of her current situation to be fully honest, the naive girl having been mostly taken in by the friendliness of the monsters down here and the charming puzzles concocted by the taller of the skeletons named Papyrus.
Luckily, as it was, she wasn't in any real danger, the girl taking great joy in rubbing the greater dogs belly as Sans and Papyrus meanwhile discussed where the stray human would be staying, her wandering the Underground without a home being a very bad idea with her lack of knowledge on...really anything down here.
Of course, her sleeping on a dog bed was simply a idea from Papyrus who knew much less about humans than Sans did, him never having gotten a complaint from Fridk when he had attempted to 'capture' the human so long ago.
"Ah yes! A human bed, I should have thought that true!", Papyrus seeming a bit sheepish as he also remembered how humans had descended from skeletons, of course they would prefer a regular bed, "I will be sure to secure one that is perfect!".
Greater dog wandering off as Mira turned her attention back to the brothers, a cold wind from somewhere, somehow, blew through the trees, Mira taking in a breath as she gave the skeletons a nervous smile.
"Good news human! My brother and I have decided that you will be staying with us if you choose!", Papyrus seeming quite proud of the shared decision as Miras eyes brightened up, she nodded at the idea, looking to Sans for conformation.
"In the meantime I suppose we should show you to your new home!", Papyrus not wanting to scare Mira with the 'gauntlet of deadly terror' or any other puzzles for the matter right now, traversing to Snowdin town with the brothers, Mira took in all the sights of the cozy little town, some of the monsters, mostly bunnies and dogs, seeming to think her odd but not making a deal of it as she had thought they would.
Papyrus pointing things out such as the 'librarby' and the inn, it almost reminded Mira of a regular human town on the surface, her being curious to check things out on her own sometimes to get a feel of where she would likely be living for a long while.
"And this, dear human, is our house!", Papyrus noticing that Mira seemed a bit awestruck at his introduction, he almost thought he had said something wrong before Mira shook her head and smiled happily.
"I've never lived in a house this, uh...big...its so cool!", Mira genuinely being happy as she had spent her life in cramped apartments and the like, she didn't question how a house like this was in the Underground as she was just content to be away from the cold, "Thank you!~".
-----------------------
Toriel, despite knowing that the Underground ever since Frisk had made it through the barrier, was a slightly safer place for fallen humans didn't want young Alia wandering out of the Ruins on account that...well, Alia was simply a child and most of the Underground was wilderness with many traps and a mixed bag of monsters.
Alia was free to explore the Ruins though as they saw fit, the monsters that inhabited it being far too weak to even think of harming a child. Being a boss monster, the monsters of the Ruins also feared Toriel and they knew they would have to deal with her if they harmed Alia.
Still....there was a inkling in the back of the goat moms mind that perhaps she should do something about the entrance in the basement to the wider Underground. Alia didn't seem the type who would want to wander away, but....perhaps it was best to be cautious.
Assuming Alia was distracted by exploring, Toriel decided to act on her intuition and slipped away to the basement, her never having gone through with her threat to Frisk to destroy the door in her heartbroken anger.
The coldness of the stark, empty door wasn't something Toriel enjoyed being near...it reminded her far too much of her past mistakes, worries, and failures....

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
Sans was relieved that Papyrus quickly agreed to get Mira a regular bed rather than a dog bed, and smiled as he replied, "i know you will, bro." Fortunately, it seemed like Mira had not overheard the topic of their conversation; he didn't want her to get the wrong idea and think that Papyrus saw her as a pet or something.
When Mira turned back towards the brothers, Sans smiled back at her, letting Papyrus speak up to announce the offer to stay with them. Papyrus was the more outgoing of the two, after all, and Sans admittedly tended to just go along with whatever Papyrus wanted. Of course, Sans would be happy to let Mira stay with them as well; though he had been nervous at first about finding a fallen human, Mira was quite friendly and seemed to want to get along with everyone, so he wasn't concerned anymore.
Seeing Mira look at him for confirmation, Sans nodded, "of course you can stay with us." Sans was glad that Mira seemed happy with the suggestion; it seemed like Papyrus was set on her being their guest and he wouldn't have wanted his brother to become disappointed if she had decided she would rather stay somewhere else. Besides, it would be nice to have someone around who didn't complain about his sense of humor. It wasn't like Sans could really help it at this point; puns and bad jokes had become his coping mechanism, one he didn't see going away anytime soon.
As Papyrus led the way to town, Sans followed along, keeping an eye out to make sure the town's residents didn't crowd around Mira. Fortunately, everyone seemed willing to give her space, which Sans was relieved to see. While he let Papyrus do most of the talking as usual, Sans did comment on a few things during the tour, like pointing out Grillby's and telling a couple of puns about things they passed, though he tried to be quiet so Papyrus wouldn't overhear the latter. It wasn't like he wanted to annoy his brother, after all.
Soon the trio reached the house, and Sans watched in slight confusion as Mira looked awestruck by it. As she explained the house was bigger than she was used to, Sans felt even more confused. Their house wasn't tiny, but he would never have expected to hear a human call it big. It was a simple two story house, after all, and he had read in a book that had fallen from the surface that there were much bigger buildings than he could even imagine on the surface.
Skyscrapers, if he was remembering correctly. Buildings so big they actually looked like they reached the sky. Compared to those, why would their simple house be considered 'big'?
Sans shrugged off the thought. Maybe there weren't actually very many of those large buildings on the surface. Maybe most buildings there actually were more in line with the sizes of the buildings here in the Underground. After all, he probably shouldn't put too much stock in books about things he had never actually seen. Mira had experienced being on the surface first hand, so he would take her word for it on this.
At least she seemed happy, that was the important thing. So, Sans pushed the thoughts aside and opened the door for Mira and Papyrus to enter, figuring Mira was probably really cold by now and likely wanted to get out of the snow.
"do you need anything? maybe some water?" Sans asked, still not entirely sure how long Mira was out there before he found her. Staying hydrated was important though, he was pretty sure humans needed lots of water. Maybe he should do some research on what else humans need to live... Frisk hadn't stayed in the Underground for very long, so there was probably a lot of stuff he had no clue about when it came to what humans needed.
.....................
Alia had begun wandering around the house, with Chara following and narrating about the various things the two came across when they were not too caught up in memories. Alia had quickly realized that one of the rooms had been Chara's, when they were alive, and stayed out in the hallway as Chara revisited it. She couldn't help but feel a bit worried Toriel might suggest she use the room. That would feel even more like she was replacing them than she already did, and Alia really didn't like that feeling. Watching Chara float around the room, smiling at memories, Alia felt an even stronger desire to reunite them with the monsters.
Eventually, Chara rejoined Alia in the hallway, and the two continued on. Chara's comments soon helped Alia relax again, and she was giggling as they left Toriel's room and moved on to the next. Except the next door was closed, and had a sign on it claiming the room was under renovation. Chara had floated through the door with a curious expression, but when they returned they looked troubled. Alia decided not to ask what they found; she figured if she needed to know, they would tell her.
At the end of the hallway, they found a mirror. Alia approached it, and Chara said, "It's you!" Though she had known logically that a ghost would not appear in a mirror, not seeing her friend's reflection beside hers made Alia rather sad. Nonetheless, she smiled back at Chara, not wanting them to feel worried about her.
As the two returned to the room Toriel had previously been reading a book in, Alia was surprised to see she wasn't there. Chara suggested she might be in the kitchen, so the two headed there to check, but Toriel wasn't there, either. Alia was now very confused; Toriel hadn't entered the hallway while the two had been exploring there, so where could she be? It didn't take long for Alia to guess what had happened. Maybe, just like her parents on the surface, Toriel just didn't have time for her. Really, it shouldn't be surprising if Toriel was busy with her own life, Alia told herself.
Chara seemed to guess what she was thinking, and tried to reassure her. "It is very unlike her to just disappear without a word. She must be around here somewhere. Maybe she is downstairs?" Alia would have been unconvinced if it had been anyone else saying that, but she trusted Chara. So, she nodded and headed downstairs, and after following the path at the bottom of the stairs, finally found Toriel staring at a large door.
To Alia, this seemed like Toriel was contemplating leaving. She felt like she should have known better; sooner or later, everyone got tired of dealing with her. She was too awkward, too bad at socializing, too... Whatever it was that kept annoying everyone. Maybe she should just accept it-
"Mom?" Chara spoke up, sounding extremely confused. Alia glanced at them, feeling bad. If only she had managed to find a way to help Chara speak with the monsters... Alia was used to this, but Chara shouldn't have to watch Toriel leave like this. She probably wouldn't leave at all if she knew Chara was back.
It was really just for Chara's sake that Alia spoke. Maybe she could buy herself a bit more time to try to find a way to reunite the two. Then they could be a family again, and Alia would be the one to leave, if that was what Toriel wanted. "Toriel?"

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
It was safe to say that Mira knew she was completely out of place in this odd town of monsters, some of them staring at her and whispering comments she felt were, naturally, about a human of all things walking in seemingly out of the blue.
Sure, Sans and Papyrus were being incredibly kind to her despite her position as a entirely different species than them....but it didn't help the fact that Mira desired nothing more than to be able to go home and think of this as nothing more than just some strange adventure she could look back on in the future and think of as some strange hallucination.
Of course, she couldn't deny the reality of what was in front of her, Mira feeling a warmth of happiness in her heart that the two brothers weren't leaving her to her own devices in this world. God knows what she would have done if she was left to fend for herself, her fear of monsters likely meaning she would have hed up in a cave somewhere for her own safety.
Mira, having grown up in not the best conditions, was naturally awestruck a bit by the brothers house, Papyrus beaming with a bit of pride over it all and how he had managed to effortlessly impress the new human.
"I'm uh, actually a bit tired....", Mira blushing nervously as she was definitely not the type to ask for anything ever, was really just craving a place to get her mind together and rest and....figure out where she would go from here in terms of...everything.
"In that case let me show you to your room, human! Its right up the stairs to the left", Papyrus being as happy as a skeleton could be as he led Mira to her new dwellings, he knew he needed to keep his excitement down over Mira more the time being so she didn't scare off, "Dont hesitate to let me or my brother know if you need any human things!"
Mira giving a slight nod as she finally began to let her mind take in exactly what her new situation was as she sighed and plopped on her back on the bed looking up at the wooden ceiling, she clearly needed space to adjust, Papyrus even taking the hint and not pursuing his interest in the humans....everything for now, returning downstairs to begin working on a wonderful welcome meal for their new guest.
"What do you think of our new human, Sans?", The tall skeleton having read that humans lived spaghetti, it was natural that he would cook his famed dish for Mira, Undyne having shown him a way to even make it edible!
-----------------------
Everyone that she had let her guard down and allowed a human to leave...the worst possible outcome had happened, not a one of the children that had passed through here ending up with a soul in the end, besides her truly determined Frisk of course.
But Frisk had been different than the other children, somehow more widened to the world than most at their young age. It had been something that the goat mom had taken notice of with how determined they had been to escape to the rest of the wider Underground....
To escape from this prison that monsters called home.
To leave her behind in the pursuit of freedom-
No! She knew she needed to stop thinking like that. To pin all her hopes and dreams onto a child was a mistake that had ended terribly in the past due to her naivety in the pursuit for a better life for all in the Underground, her dear Asriel and Chara paying the price for her moment of negligence.
And that presence she had felt ever since Alia had fallen....why did she continue to feel this age old presence that ached her very soul to its core?
"Go back upstairs and be a good child, won't you?", The usually composed goat mom's voice seemed to hesitant a bit as she didn't dare turn towards Alia almost in fear that she would see something she would regret, "This door, it leads to the wider Underground...I'm going to destroy it for your own good".

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
It was a relief to Sans that Papyrus seemed willing to let Mira rest after she explained she was tired. Papyrus rarely seemed to rest himself, and Sans was sure his brother was eager to show Mira around the house more and make her some of his famous spaghetti, so he hadn't been sure how Papyrus would take the comment. Fortunately, he hadn't had to step in and say anything, since Papyrus had quickly accepted it and led the way to her room.
Seeing Mira seemed somewhat embarrassed about admitting she was tired, Sans smiled reassuringly at her. After falling into the Underground and all, it was only natural she would feel tired. Sans was glad she was willing to say something when she needed to rest.
"sleep well," Sans said, waving to Mira and then heading back downstairs so as not to disturb her while she rested. Noticing Papyrus heading straight to the kitchen, Sans grinned at his brother's predictable decision to make some spaghetti. Of course, he had been sure that Papyrus would want to make some for Mira; Papyrus had been practicing making the meal for quite some time now, and even though Undyne's training methods could be rather chaotic, Papyrus had definitely been improving.
Hopefully the meal would help Mira adjust somewhat; Sans wasn't sure when she would be able to go home, but he hoped she would be able to feel comfortable here in the meantime. After all, this whole thing must have been a shock for her; monsters, a whole world hidden under a mountain, and the barrier... It was probably a lot to take in.
"she seems nice," Sans replied to Papyrus's question. "you did a great job with the room, by the way." Sans was very relieved that Papyrus had in fact taken his advice seriously and given Mira a regular bed rather than a dog bed.
Sans hoped that Papyrus's spaghetti-cooking efforts were not too loud and that Mira was able to fall asleep easily. While Sans had long since gotten used to the sound of Papyrus practicing making the meal between cooking lessons, it did involve a lot of stirring the noodles really fast and squishing various vegetables for the sauce. It didn't faze Sans anymore, but he figured it might seem rather unconventional to a human...
............................................
Alia wasn't sure what she had been expecting. Perhaps for Toriel to turn around, surprised, and act like she had never been thinking about leaving at all. Or maybe for Toriel to say she was just about to go get groceries or something like that. But Alia was not at all prepared for what Toriel said instead. Go back upstairs and be a good child, won't you? The words struck Alia like a shove from one of the bullies at school. She actually felt herself stumble backwards a bit, as memories appeared in the front of her mind.
"Can't you see I'm busy? Go away, I don't have time right now." Alia had been five, and tried to show her parents a drawing she had made. "Just be a good child and go read a book or something." The time Alia had approached her parents while they were watching a show on TV. A few more memories followed, before Alia was finally pulled out of her thoughts by a worried-sounding voice.
"Alias? Are you okay?"
Alia looked over at Chara, who seemed extremely concerned. Taking a breath, she managed to nod at them, before turning back to Toriel. The goat monster hadn't even looked at her once. That only made Alia more sure Toriel didn't want her around. It wasn't a surprise, really. Toriel wanted a good child. Someone like Chara. As hard as she had tried, Alia just wasn't capable of being one, according to her parents on the surface at least.
Well, at least she didn't have to worry about replacing Chara anymore.
"I-I'm sorry, Toriel... I won't bother you anymore. I can leave if you want, there's no need for you to destroy anything," Alia said. Having been so distracted by memories, she hadn't fully heard what Toriel had said about why she was going to destroy the door and, due to the first statement, figured it had something to do with trying to get Alia to go away.
Really, the thing she felt the worst about was that Chara still could not talk with Toriel. Alia figured they would miss her a lot; if only she could have found a way to reunite them so they could stay together at least. Maybe if Alia could find a way later, Chara could go back and stay with their mom afterwards. The thought was only a small comfort, but at least she wasn't feeling completely hopeless about it anymore.
.....
Chara was really confused by how Toriel had been acting. They had never seen her like this while they were living in the Underground. She had always been there for Asriel and themself, whenever the kids had needed her. Toriel never would have disappeared without telling them, and what was this about destroying the door? Why would Toriel want to do that? Toriel had never been the destructive type, at least when they were alive. Even when she used her magic, it was usually to bake a pie or something like that. Not to break anything.
But Chara did not have much time to consider these thoughts before they noticed Alia seemed to have been affected by what Toriel had said. She seemed lost in thought about something; not anything good, if her anxious expression was anything to go by. Chara could not help but feel worried about her; in the short time they had been friends, Chara had noticed a lot of similarities between the two.
The way Alia was acting now reminded them a lot of when they had first fallen into the Underground, and thought they would be intruding on the kind family that found them if they stayed around. They just hoped Toriel would figure that out in time...
Seeing Mira seemed somewhat embarrassed about admitting she was tired, Sans smiled reassuringly at her. After falling into the Underground and all, it was only natural she would feel tired. Sans was glad she was willing to say something when she needed to rest.

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
Papyrus was aware that, especially with humans, he could be a bit much and didn't want to scare Mira into wandering away from Snowdin and getting into trouble as there were many dangers one such as her kind could get into down here.
He had even made his puzzles more human friendly! The skeleton was aware that somebif his past ones had been rather dangerous for non monsters and with the way everyone talked, at least before Frisk fell, humans were dropping into the underground every other decade and he needed to be ready!
The eager skeleton had never actually -seen- a adult human though and adjusted accordingly, him naturally assuming adult humans were just like grown monsters (of which he wasn't far off). So far he had assessed that Mira was logical, quiet, hardy, and quick to act and had all the potential to be a good friend.
Now, Papyrus was naturally learning to cook beyond spaghetti with Undynes help but it was the quickest and easiest thing to make for a hungry human, at least according to Papyrus. He really wasn't even -sure- how much adult humans ate so maybe his habit of cooking huge amounts of food would work out this time?
What a mystery!
"I've been reading up on humans and according to 'A monsters guide to human anatomy' humans need to eat multiple times a day. Its odd but I think they simply go through energy faster than monsters do", Papyrus actually making a point as many monsters, as foid as converted to magic in them, didn't need to eat every day or desired to, the skeleton was putting in the effort to care for Mira with what knowledge he could aquire.
Papyrus was no dummy even if his way of thinking was a bit convoluted at times. With Mira sleeping upstairs the skeleton at the very least was assured that the human was comfortable and regaining strength, her being lucky that she had managed to land where she had -when- she had, Snowdin forest being prone to bad weather at the best of times.
---------------------
Toriel was definitely not herself, the fact that she seemed to have been pushed completely over the edge by grief likely not being touched upon by someone as young as Alia. The goat mom was notoriously harmless but she simply couldn't allow this child to leave the Ruins, the danger being far too great for her to let it happen.
There was something in Alia, whether a uncanny resemblance or some odd presence, that hurt Toriels very Soul and brought back all the pained memories of her dear Chara. It was...difficult to not push such things onto Alis though as the child obviously didn't know who Chara was, but hundreds of years of repression and pain had to bubble up at some point....
Toriel absolutely did not want to harm Alia though and knowing very little of the child's meek mental health clenched her fists, her already regretting the words she had chosen in her moment of weakness.
"Alia, I am sorry. I didn't mean to be quite so harsh. Its just....", The goat mom shaking her head as she had immediately resorted to treating Alia like a defiant Frisk from so long ago.
"I just want you to be safe, understand?", The smallest of weak smiles crossing her face as she knelt before Alia but didn't dare to touch them for a usual hug, she had at least picked up on the child's disdain for touch, "I was so assured that you were going to leave and be hurt or worse....I should have learnt this by now, but if you want to leave for the wider Underground I cannot stop you".

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
(Sorry again for the delay! I finally had a chance to finish this post!)
Sans listened as Papyrus mentioned having read a book about humans, and his thoughts on it. "sounds like you've been putting a lot of backbone into this," he said, unable to resist telling a pun. After all, it was in his bones! Nonetheless, he decided to make an effort to keep the puns to a minimum for now, and changed the subject to be a bit more serious about things. Mostly because he didn't want Papyrus to accidentally wake Mira up while yelling about his sense of humor.
"you're right that humans need to eat regularly, but that means you'll have plenty of opportunities to make your famous spaghetti for her," Sans continued, hoping the compliment would ease any irritation Papyrus might have felt about his jokes. Sans knew Papyrus had been working hard at his cooking lessons with Undyne, and it was probably really exciting for him to have someone new to cook for.
After all, there really weren't that many opportunities to cook for someone new in the Underground. Being trapped under Mount Ebott meant that you pretty much saw the exact same people all the time. It had been a long time since the last human to fall into the Underground had left, and who knew when or if another human would show up.
Now that Mira was resting and Papyrus was occupied with cooking, Sans realized he hadn't finished his rounds of sentry duty for the day yet. After unexpectedly finding Mira, Sans had been more focused on helping her find the way out of the forest than finishing his examination of the area. Sans figured he should probably head back out there sometime today; though he doubted he would find anything more surprising than a fallen human, he still wanted to make sure he did a thorough job.
Besides, there was always the possibility that when Mira had fallen, some rocks or other debris could have fallen as well. Sans wouldn't want to leave anything lying around where it could potentially cause harm for anyone. Just because most monsters didn't travel very deep into the woods didn't mean there wasn't the possibility that someone could. It was definitely better to be safe and check, just in case.
Additionally, Sans should really make sure there weren't any signs of Flowey hanging around the area; the last thing they needed was for Flowey to pop up unexpectedly to try to pick a fight. Which he probably would if he knew about Mira. Flowey seemed to enjoy seeing how people reacted to different things, based on his actions during several of the reset timelines. Someone new to mess with would definitely get Flowey's attention. Sans needed to be ready to stop him if he tried anything.
...................
Alia waited uncertainly to see what Toriel would do. At least she didn't just ignore her and leave; Alia knew how devastating that would have been for Chara. Although it would probably be just as devastating for them to have to leave Toriel behind... But really, what choice did Alia have but to go? If she stayed, she would only end up annoying Toriel later on, so she would just be delaying the inevitable. Sooner or later, Toriel would see whatever her parents on the surface saw. If she hadn't already, which Alia really couldn't rule out if Toriel had been contemplating leaving in the first place.
It did surprise Alia quite a bit when Toriel apologized. That was the last thing she would have expected- in her experience, adults didn't really apologize... Ever. It was always her who was at fault. But Toriel still seemed upset about something, though Alia had no idea what it was. Maybe she was upset with Alia, and was just trying to be nicer about it than the humans were.
Tilting her head as Toriel explained further, Alia was clearly confused since she hadn't fully understood Toriel's intentions regarding planning to destroy the door. Even now she didn't really understand it; after all, what did destroying a door have to do with keeping her safe? Still, Alia could tell Toriel meant what she was saying, and she tried to be reassuring. "Please don't worry, Toriel. I'll be very careful, I won't get into any trouble."
Besides, Alia knew Chara would be able to help her avoid anything dangerous, just like they had helped her with that strange puzzle with the easily breakable flooring. Though Alia obviously couldn't explain that to Toriel right now, she hoped that her confidence in Chara would reassure Toriel even if Toriel didn't know where that confidence stemmed from.
The rest of the Underground... Alia was curious about it. Chara had mentioned a couple of things here and there while they had been exploring, but Alia kind of wanted to see it for herself. But she also didn't want Toriel to worry if she did... Alia was feeling a lot of conflicting feelings, but she kept a reassuring smile on her face for Toriel's sake.

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
(Sorry for my own delay! School and work kill me ><)
Papyrus really did want to learn more about this strange, fallen human as much as he could, even if that could be a hard task by itself with Mira's obvious meekness and her likely unwillingness to talk much yet about life on the surface. There was very little info on human's apart from their soul anatomy available to monsters, but that wasn't what he was interested in.
How long did humans sleep? Did they -need- sleep? How much did they need to eat? Did humans need sunlight to live like some monsters? How many humans were there? Did humans still hate monsters?
A million questions buzzed in his mind but clearly those would need to wait, the last thing Papyrus wanting to do to be to accidently scare Mira and make her even more wary of the Underground than she seemed to be already.
"I just want her to be comfortable! I know its been a very long time since Frisk escaped here but I like to think I have learned more about humans since than!", The skele sighing exasperated at his brothers terrible pun, it was true that Papyrus had learned plenty on how and how not to act around humans since than, "Besides, a adult human must have complex needs compared to a child!".
It was common for some to think that, at least compared to his brother, that Papyrus was immature or buffoon much to his disdain, the skele simply having a exhuverarance for life that many monsters had since lost. Of course, anyone who knew him understood that Papyrus was just as intelligent as his sibling in areas that San's lacked.
One thing that the skele didn't lack on though was harping on his brother to stick to his duties. After all, if San's had been sleeping on the job like he usually did who knows what would have happened to Mira!
"Shouldn't you be returning to your sentry? I appreciate that you rescued the human but I can look after her while your out!", Papyrus knowing that if Sans wasn't on patrol like he should be that Undyne would find out and it could look bad on him, he was unaware of the much bigger threat of a certain flower causing chaos in the Underground that his brother was trying to keep track of, "If anything unusual happens I will tell you immediately!".
----------------------
Perhaps it was a bit strange for someone as young as Alia to see the shift that Toriel had in regards to her allowing the child to leave the Ruins for the wider Underground, the goat mom still feel internally distraught despite trying to put on a better face for Alia's own comfort.
It wasn't right for her to put her own feelings onto a human child like this, no matter how much pain she was feeling in her Soul. Humans were immensely powerful, even as children, and if Alia had the Determination that Frisk had....
Toriel didn't sense anything negative in Alia. There were past rumors on how much damage a loose human could do in the Underground but Toriel really didn't think a child was capable of such things, in her eyes monsters being more of a threat to Alia looking back at the fates of the 6 children that had fallen before Frisk....
No, she didn't want to think of that, not anymore....
"I'm sorry I have put so much on you. Your far too young for me to unload my personal troubles onto", Toriel hugging Alia greatly, the goat mom knew that Alia would eventually find a way to leave, even if she kept the child here intentionally. Allowing Alia to leave into the Underground was the right decision despite its potential consequences, "I simply ask that if you do leave....please, don't tell anyone of this place".
Toriel stopping short of telling Alia to never come back, she couldn't bring herself to be so calous towards the human. If Alia did ever decide to return to the Ruins it was natural that Toriel would want them back, her unwillingness to leave a child in a potentially dangerous situation being incredibly strong.
Thr goat mom easily being able to open the massive, stone doors that led to the Underground with her magic as she protectively had Alia stand back, it was clear that they hadn't been opened in a very, very long time with the resounding creak that echoed through the cavern. A slight coldness echoing from the blackness ahead, Snowdin didn't lay too far ahead and would be Alia's likely first destination.
"I can't follow eith you, my child. Everything after this point is up to you", A hint of hope that Toriel wished Alia didn't notice echoing in her voice, she really did hope that the intimidating sight of the tunnel ahead would change the human's mind, "It is only a short walk to Snowdin town once you leave the cavern. Follow the marked path and you will remain safe".

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
(It's totally fine! I completely understand that life gets overwhelming at times, I hope things calm down for you soon!)
.....
Sans smiled reassuringly at Papyrus at his comment about wanting Mira to be comfortable. "hey, you're doing great so far. you're listening to what she says and you're considering her needs even when she doesn't say them. i'm sure if you keep doing that, you'll get the hang of this in no time. you are the great papyrus, after all," he said, hoping the little pep talk would help Papyrus.
Resisting the urge to chuckle as Papyrus brought up the topic of his sentry duty just as he remembered it, Sans knew his brother probably was expecting him to slack off due to the lazybones persona he had developed during Flowey's manipulation of the timeline. Truthfully though, Sans was glad Papyrus had brought it up since he did intend on taking his job seriously- he always had, actually, even when he acted like he didn't- so he nodded in agreement.
"you're right, bro. i'll go finish my rounds. if you or mira need anything, just let me know, alright?" Sans said, starting to turn towards the door but then pausing and getting a glass from the cupboard and filling it with water. "oh, and if she wakes up before I get back, here's a glass of water for her. hydration is very important for humans."
Setting the glass of water on the table, Sans turned towards the door again. "see you later, bro. i'll be back soon." With that, he set out to finish searching Snowdin Forest for any fallen debris... Or any signs of Flowey.
.....
Listening as Toriel spoke, Alia figured that perhaps some of her inner turmoil had to do with losing Chara. After all, they did seem to be about the same age as Alia, so maybe seeing her had brought those thoughts and feelings back for Toriel. Alia felt bad that she couldn't help Toriel see or speak with her child yet, but this only fueled her determination to find a way to reunite them. She hugged Toriel back, trying to reassure her. Someday, she would help reunite the family... But it seemed unlikely she would find a solution by staying here in the Ruins.
Besides, it seemed like her appearance was bringing back difficult memories for Toriel, and Alia didn't want to be the cause of that. At least until she could reunite them, it was probably for the best that Alia left. She was used to the solution being her staying out of the way, so Alia was not bothered by it at all, though she did feel bad that it meant Chara would not be able to see their mother very much in the meantime. Glancing at her ghost companion, Alia saw in their eyes that they seemed sad, but they were smiling reassuringly at her and encouraged her to do whatever she felt would be best. It seemed like they had come to the same conclusion that Alia's appearance might be reminding Toriel of them and affecting her mood and feelings negatively.
"I won't tell anyone," Alia replied to Toriel's request. Although she didn't exactly understand why Toriel would ask for that, Alia was already keeping one individual's presence a secret, so what was one more? If that would make Toriel feel better for whatever reason, Alia wasn't going to question it; anything she could do to make this easier for Chara and Toriel, she would be happy to do.
Watching Toriel open the giant door revealing the path to the rest of the Underground, Alia stared curiously into the dark cavern before her. Maybe she should have been intimidated or scared by the sight, but she simply wasn't. Instead, she felt anticipation; like something important was about to happen.
Nodding up at Toriel when she instructed her on how to reach Snowdin Town, Alia said, "I will be very careful, Toriel. I will be alright, so you don't need to worry about me." Mentally, she added, And I will find a way to reunite you and Chara.
Waving at Toriel, Alia took a step forward towards the cavern and then another, Chara's ghostly presence beside her providing enough light for her to see where she was going as she traveled along the dark pathway. They glanced back a couple of times, but when they saw Alia had noticed, they were quick to reassure her.
"It is alright, Alias. Of course I will miss her, but even getting to see her again at all was more than I ever really expected." Seeing Alia still looked concerned, they decided to tell a few jokes to try to get her mind off of it, and as the two entered Snowdin Forest, Alia was giggling.
......
Sans had just finished his rounds of sentry duty; thankfully, there had not been any debris or anything else that could hurt anyone, nor had there been any signs of Flowey as far as he could tell. Relieved, and now quite deep within the forest, Sans was about to teleport back home when he suddenly heard the sound of laughter nearby. Sans paused and looked around in confusion, half expecting Flowey to pop up and taunt him, although the laughter didn't actually sound anything like the sentient flower's. It didn't sound at all like the old lady he sometimes told jokes with, either; this voice was much younger.
Heading in the direction of the sound, Sans was surprised to find a human girl walking along the path, looking to her side and giggling at seemingly nothing. "heya, kid," Sans greeted her, wondering how not one but two humans had ended up in Snowdin Forest today. Even one human falling into the Underground was an extremely rare occurrence, but there was always the chance it could really just be a coincidence...
"Oh, hi!" the girl replied, looking surprised but fortunately not scared. Sans was relieved to see that the appearance of a monster seemingly had not frightened her, though he couldn't help but feel curious about why that was when it sounded like most humans still had rather negative opinions about monsters based on what Mira had said earlier. And what had she been laughing at? As far as Sans could tell, there was absolutely no one else in the area.
Nonetheless, Sans didn't sense anything about the girl that would give him a reason to be distrustful of her, so he decided not to question her about it and instead held out his hand for a handshake. "i'm sans, sans the skeleton."
"It's nice to meet you, Sans," the girl replied, reaching out to shake his hand. "I'm Alia-" she continued, before bursting into another fit of giggles as the whoopie cushion in Sans's hand suddenly made a noise as they shook hands.
"heh. the old whoopie cushion in the hand trick. it's always funny," Sans said with a grin.
Alia grinned back. "You sure are humerus," she said with a giggle after a few seconds.
"thanks. it's in my bones," Sans chuckled, glad to have an opportunity to relax a bit and tell some bad jokes that Papyrus definitely would have yelled at him for. While the events of the day so far had certainly not been bad, there had been quite a few surprises and Sans needed some time to wrap his mind around it all. Regardless, he did realize that Snowdin could be quite cold for a human, and he had no idea how long she had been wandering around for, so after a couple more jokes he grew a bit more serious. "hey, it's kinda cold out here, do you need help finding the way out of the forest? There's a town nearby, I can show you how to get there if you want."
Alia paused for a moment, and seemed to look at nothing again. After a few moments, she turned back to Sans with a smile. "Sure, that would be great. Thank you," she said.
Sans wondered why she kept looking at nothing like that, but decided to set that thought aside for now and simply began leading the way out of the forest. "snow problem, kid."
As they followed the path out of the forest, they continued telling jokes. Sans couldn't help but be amazed by how comfortable Alia seemed to be in a completely unfamiliar place, talking with a monster, separated from everything she was used to by a barrier- well, Sans supposed she probably didn't know about that last part yet, but to be fair, everything else still probably would have been a major shock to most human children. Instead of seeming scared by her new surroundings, Alia just seemed curious.
When they reached the edge of the forest, Sans said, "okay, we aren't too far from town now. are you doing alright?"
Alia nodded, "Yes. This place is so cool!"
"heh, i'm glad you're having fun, kid. the town's this way, but if you want to stop and look at anything along the way, just say so." Sans figured Alia might find the puzzles Papyrus had made interesting, they were quite clever and creative after all.
....
Alia had been surprised to meet another monster so soon after leaving the Ruins, but it was a good surprise. Sans seemed to have a very similar sense of humor as herself and Chara, which allowed her to tell puns without anyone thinking she was talking to herself, like they might have if it was just her and Chara. Though this did make it more difficult to talk directly to Chara, they seemed to have gotten quite good at guessing what she was thinking or wanted to say, so it wasn't too much of an inconvenience for the most part.
Besides, it was nice of Sans to offer to help her, a complete stranger, and she didn't want to seem ungrateful. Alia wasn't used to people offering to help her, aside from Chara of course, and she appreciated Sans' offer to guide her to Snowdin Town even if she didn't technically need it. She was sure Chara was just as capable of guiding her there, after all. Still, the fact Sans was going out of his way to help her made her feel happy.
And he was very patient, much more patient than any adults on the surface had ever been. As they were walking to town, they had come across a game in the snow that kind of reminded Alia of golf. There was a patch of ice, a snowball, and a hole that you were supposed to push the snowball into. Alia had approached it curiously, and Sans explained the game to her and watched as she tried playing it. Her first attempt had been unsuccessful; she was being so careful that by the time she reached the end of the patch of ice, the snowball had melted. Rather than insisting it was time to move on like her parents on the surface would have, Sans waited for the snowball to reappear so she could try again.
That time, Alia had succeeded, and as a cute little red flag appeared and Sans and Chara congratulated her, Alia smiled back at them, feeling happier than she could ever recall feeling before. Not because of winning the game, but because of them. She wasn't used to having people support and encourage her as much as Chara and Sans had today. It was... A really nice feeling.
They continued on, pausing from time to time when Alia wanted to look at something- about which Chara usually added a funny narration or joke to make her laugh- until they reached Snowdin Town. "we're here," Sans said, indicating a sign. "this is snowdin town. it's got almost everything- a shop, a library, an inn, and the best restaurant ever, grillby's," Sans chuckled.
"Wow, this is amazing," Alia looked around in amazement, making a mental note of where the library was. That was probably the best place to start looking for ideas on how to reunite Chara and the monsters, so she would have to make sure to visit it soon!
"and over here is my house. mine and my brother's, that is. another human actually fell down here earlier today too, and she's staying with us as well. you're welcome here too, if you want," Sans continued.
Alia tore her eyes away from the library when she heard that. "Really? Are you sure? Your brother and friend won't mind?" Truthfully, Alia hadn't really had a plan in mind for where she would stay when she left the Ruins. She had figured there would probably be an inn or something somewhere, and when Sans mentioned the inn in Snowdin Town, Alia had kind of just assumed that was where she would end up. She hadn't expected anyone to offer for her to stay with them, and she wouldn't have wanted to impose on anyone anyway. But if Sans and his brother had room for some new friends to stay with them, maybe it wouldn't hurt... Besides, it was a lot of fun telling jokes with Sans, and if she stayed with him, she would be able to keep telling puns with him!
Sans smiled reassuringly. "i'm sure they'll be happy to have you stay with us."
Alia smiled back, "Then I would be happy to. Thank you, Sans."
"snow problem," Sans said. As he led the way to his house, Alia followed with a hopeful smile, wondering if maybe, she had finally found a place where she could feel like she belonged.

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
Mira was still fully processing this...strange new world she had been thrown into, the fact that this was a world of monsters feeling as if she had hit her head too hard in that bed of snow from earlier. Sure, monsters weren't a entirely unheard of thing on the surface what with tales and old books speaking of when humans and monsters lived in peace....
But Mira had assumed they were 'extinct', no one taking the concept that Monsters could be right beneath your own feet seriously. To be honest the girl wasn't even sure she wanted the surface to -know- about all this the more she thought on it.
Humans could be needlessly cruel towards what they perceived as different. Monsters as far as she had experienced so far felt like a kindly type that humans would more than likely find trouble with.
The girl sighing and staring at the ceiling as she tried to lull herself into security, she couldn't help but wonder what would happen when she wandered beyond this house...would other monsters be as kind towards a intruder like her?
At the very least Mira wanted to make herself useful. Surely there had to be some way to get back to the surface without stirring up the potential annoyance of other monsters who might not take kindly towards her just 'leaving' whe they were stuck down here.
If only she knew it wasn't as 'easy' as just leaving, Mira in for the long hull as there was no actual way for her to leave, the young Alia that had fallen in another area of the Undergroumd in the same situation.
Mira would be sure to ask Sans or Papyrus about the rest of the Underground when she woke up but for now she was absolutely tired, drifting off a few minutes later finally.
.........
At the sound of a commotion downstairs a few hours later Mira snapped out of her little nap, practically tumbling out of bed as she thought something was wrong. She really wasn't used to...really anything down here yet to be honest, Papyrus's happiness at Alia being well warranted though.
"Another human?? How?? The chances are astronomical!", The tall skeleton giving Alia space despite wanting to be his usual self around the shy child, he had no intention of scaring them and knew that monsters could be scary to a young one such as this, "What is your name, human?? Perhaps you might like to meet Miss Mira?".
Being a bit forward as usual, Mira was just coming down the stairs as Papyrus brought up her name, her eyes growing wide at the sight of..a human child besides Sans....
But how??
"Ah! There she is now! Mira, this is....", Papyrus really hoping he wouldn't have to name this child, he wasn't the best with names and Sans surely wouldn't let him name them Chariel or Rocky, "....A human child that I'm sure you will get along wonderfully with!".

Re: Fallen twice (Potato x Sans)
As Sans opened the door to the house and Alia stepped inside, she felt her eyes widen as she looked around the living room. It was so different from the house she had lived in on the surface where everything was expected to be neat and tidy and perfect. There, nothing was ever allowed to be out of place, but here, there was a sock covered in post it notes on the floor and a rock covered in sprinkles on the table. This looked less like a house design from a magazine and more like a home.
A home. Alia had come to accept that she wasn't going to feel 'at home' on the surface, and she hadn't expected things to be any different here in the Underground. Though she of course appreciated Sans' offer to let her stay with him, she hadn't been sure what staying there would actually feel like. Even at Toriel's house, everything had still been pretty neat and tidy, and with that alongside the fact Toriel had likely been planning to have her stay in Chara and their brother's room, Alia had still felt out of place there.
But a house where things could be messy and no one was treating that like a problem... Maybe she really could fit in here. Maybe she had actually found a home.
There was still some worry in the back of her mind, though. After all, it wasn't just Sans and his brother living here; there would be another human staying here as well. Most humans on the surface didn't seem to like Alia, and there was no guarantee that this would be any different. Still, Alia hoped that she would be able to avoid annoying the skeleton brothers' new friend, because now that she had finally found a place she could see becoming her home, she was terrified of losing it. She would just have to be really careful...
She was drawn from her thoughts when a voice spoke up from the kitchen. Glancing over, she saw a taller skeleton who she assumed must be Sans' brother, and waved at him with a smile. Before she had a chance to answer his questions, another human walked down the stairs. The human looked a bit startled to see her, and Alia immediately began thinking back to try to figure out if they had met before, but she was sure they hadn't. Alia certainly didn't recall seeing her on the surface at any point, but maybe the other human had heard about Alia and how annoying she apparently was?
If that was the case, this would be even more difficult than it already was...
Chara seemed to have guessed her concern, because they very quietly spoke to offer her some support, though they appeared to be equally nervous about this situation. After all, their experiences with other humans had been quite negative as well, and as a ghost, there was really nothing they could do to protect Alia from living beings.
Despite her worries, Alia offered Mira a nervous smile and a wave. "Hi, it's nice to meet you both. My name is Alia."
Now all she could do was hope the other human would give her a chance.
........
Sans was glad to see Alia seemed to like the house, though he was again confused about how amazed she seemed by it, much like Mira had been. Apparently, the skyscrapers and other large buildings he had read about being on the surface weren't actually as common as the book made them sound. It made him wonder what the surface was really like; if most buildings weren't actually very big, what else in the books about the surface was exaggerated?
Oh well, he didn't have time to wonder about that right now. Grinning at Papyrus's reaction to another human having fallen into the Underground, he was glad to see that his brother seemed to have noticed that Alia was on the shyer side and was giving her space. Alia seemed comfortable enough despite Papyrus's louder tone, which was also a relief. However, Sans noticed that when Mira entered the room, Alia seemed to grow nervous. It wasn't like she appeared scared of Mira, more like she was nervous about what her response would be. Considering how Alia hadn't seemed quite this nervous about any of the monsters she had met, Sans figured she must have had some rough experiences with humans on the surface.
Well, at least she wouldn't have to worry about that here in the Underground, but it did make him wonder even more about what life was actually like on the surface. Pushing the thought aside for now, he gave both Mira and Alia encouraging smiles. "heya mira, i hope you slept well." Figuring Papyrus and probably Mira as well were wondering how he found Alia, Sans added a quick explanation, "i found alia in snowdin forest while i was finishing my sentry duty for the day. i invited her to stay with us."
