"The Queen of The Stream"

Young Ladia Light-stone was a sensible lady, always keeping her hands clean and her skirts dainty. She, of course, must be the one to this. Why, you may ask? Well, my dear fellow, the maiden was a princess! A princess who, after her mother, would come of age to rule the city of Triathe. Queen Hyrsted found this deeply troubling, however, because her daughter was not the princess she had wanted her to be. Yes, the young noble had always done as she was told and came as bidden, yet this was not the problem. The problem was that the princess did not wish to be just a princess - she wished to be trained in the ways of a humble beast-master. Now, back in Hyrsted's time, the only beast-masters were the mysterious magi. These were queer folk, always coming and going with the sigh of their creatures' wings. How could such a highborn lady want to be looked upon as queer or odd?
Yet, Ladia never scorned her mother for looking down upon her wishes, she actually admired her more. Such a caring mother such as Queen Hyrsted would try to protect her daughter at all costs, correct? Yes, yes, Hyrsted was merely being what she was raised to be - a queen, a protector of her people. So, Ladia kept her love of beasts to herself. She constantly studied them while her teachers and mother were not around, growing a special fondness for each one separately.
As the year of her coronation grew closer, Ladia became more and more enraptured in the world outside the castle walls. Soon enough, the princess was allowed to venture out into the areas surrounding Triathe. During one of these trips, the princess found a small squirrel with wings. Now, she had been taught not to touch strange creatures that were liable to hurt you in the foulest ways. Yet, this creature didn't strike her as frightning, but more like frightened!
