Hatchling pulsedragons spend a lot of time sitting still, observing the world around them. They're unable to pulse until they become full adults, but they have long memories and easily remember any kindness shown to them. They can, however, sing and enjoy doing so, especially in small groups where they can practice their harmonies. As they grow, they become more solitary. Travellers along the deeper sea routes where nyanja pulsedragons live often tell tales of unusual waves, claiming them to be a hatchling nyanja pulsedragon's first attempt at learning to pulse.
Large and solitary, nyanja pulsedragons are an unusual sight in most areas. When they do venture out from their deep underwater caves, they often head for beaches and other coastal areas. In return for an offering from fishermen, nyanja pulsedragons may start to sing. As they sing, they draw in magic, visible in the glow within the membranes of their wings. When this light is strongest, they release it in the pulse that gives them their name. Most of the time this pulse is helpful, easing sickness in people and bringing a bountiful harvest of fish. Occasionally, however, if the pulsedragon has been treated badly, this pulse can easily destroy homes and cause the sea to rage.
