Ruin Astridae #1152

General

Deep in the Ixan jungle, astridaes can be found amongst ancient ruins and temples left behind by a long lost civilization. No one enters said ruins without the astridaes knowing, granting luck and protection to those they deem worthy to enter the ruins, and bringing great misfortune to those only wanting to plunder and take. Astridaes are incredibly beautiful birds, found in many colors, blending in with the foliage and even the colorful ruins themselves. Over the many years, adventuring magis have been granted eggs and they have become a fairly common sight and a popular pet amongst the people of Synara. Magis will sometimes make jewelry from their colorful feathers, believing that some residual magic will grant the wearer luck.

Egg

This small, white egg is specked with orange and blue.

Hatchling

Newly hatched, these birds are not much to look at. Small, completely bald and with a large beak, many magis find them quite unattractive, but as they age and their feathers start to grow in, they become much more pleasing to the eye, though never reaching the beauty of the adults. Even though they are small, an astridae hatchling can eat a lot more than one would imagine. They love blueberries and will eat an entire basket of them in just a minute. While they can't fully control their magic at such a young age, magis with them as their companions find they tend to lose their belongings less.

Adult

Astridaes are large birds, but surprisingly lightweight and are able to light on their magi's shoulder easily, which is a good thing, because that is where they love to perch most of the time. They love fruit and will not pass up an opportunity to eat an apple, or their favorite, blueberries. Any magi knows that leaving fruit out with an astridaes in their keep means it will not be there later. It is not until they reach adulthood that astridaes fully gain control of their magic. Able to bestow luck and protection to any magi they deem worthy. They will never use their power for misdeeds, so any young magi wanting to use their power to cheat on a test will find that their luck ran out and that they have answered every question wrong.
