You had to catch green ones, and hope they'd turn purple when they landed in your Keep. Once the purple ones did start appearing in the stream, you had to catch them and hope they stayed purple.

How do you get the purple gourd wyrms? I haven't seen one in the stream since the first day. Am I just really unlucky?

Oh, they all appear as green int he stream, so you have to grab and check your keep after.
I think at certain times of day, like evening, they show up all purple in the stream, but it's still random what you get.
The purple are "shiny" apparently.

Should I bother trying to save some Candle Wyrms in case they can have their form change halted or is that unlikely to happen since the shards don't work on them?

Maybe it will be seeds instead of eggs.

They will probably 'technically' breed like everything else does. But the site has a habit of wierdly wording things for role-playing purposes. Makes no sense to me, but lots of other players like it.. oh well.
