Correction, the purple to green switch between Gourd Wyrm eggs seems to be random and a bit of Magistream trickery at this point.
#1366: Gourd Wyrm (green)
Sprite art: Mysfytt | Description: Real
You are certain this is a pumpkin wyrm egg, but the small tail poking out makes you reconsider.
(no dimorphism?)
Hatchling Description
Spoiler
These wyrm hatchlings show interest in magis only if gourd treats are offered. Otherwise, they have no interest in humans, focusing on playing with each other. They like to follow adult wyrms around, mimicking their behavior in the cutest way. Although small, they will eagerly help carry gourd seeds around, and they will use their sharp claws to shred tiny pieces of the gourd for storage. They try to carve as well but have little success. The hatchlings love to play hide and seek, so finding one inside the Keep's kitchens around All Hallow's Eve is not that uncommon. Even if they are most comfortable spending time at the gourd patch, the hatchlings sometimes go exploring, relying on their incredible sense of direction to lead them back home. They avoid pumpkin wyrm hatchlings and sometimes act envious if the pumpkin hatchlings receive more attention from magis than they do.
Adult Description
Spoiler
Adult gourd wyrms act in a parent-like manner although they are unable to lay eggs. They care for the hatchlings just as much as they care for the gourds they take their name from. Busy around the gourd patch, the adults take turns doing different tasks. Some are busy hollowing out gourds so new homes can be made for the growing hatchlings. Others store the flesh for the coming cold months. Others oversee the hatchlings. The most important task is caring for the gourd seeds. Not only will these provide more food in the following years, but some of them are magical in nature. Some of these seeds are actually gourd wyrm eggs and the adults are very careful in storing them inside special gourds. These gourds are larger than most, and hollow inside. The eggs are placed inside and guarded permanently even if the wyrms have no natural predators. They allow no other creatures to approach their eggs and will become defensive if any magis come too close to them.
Spoiler
Small and very active, the gourd wyrms live inside gourds just like their name suggests. They have been considered one and the same as the pumpkin wyrms for a long time, but their coloration, smaller size, and love for gourds have proven they are an entirely different kind of wyrms. Not only this, but they do not get along at all with the pumpkin wyrms. The two wyrm kinds never reach an agreement on which is better, the pumpkin or the gourd, so they keep their distance from each other. Whenever the two come together, they will bicker for hours on the matter. Gourd patches are kept far away from the pumpkin ones for this exact reason. An admirable thing about the gourd wyrms is that they never destroy or damage pumpkins, no matter how much they dislike the other type of wyrms. The gourd wyrms are always busy with their patch, gathering seeds for the next season, taking apart dead or rotting gourds, or carving out new ones. The flesh is stored for food while the hollowed gourds are made into new homes for the growing hatchlings. They rarely leave their patch, as they are very preoccupied with the well-being of their gourds. On the rare occasions they need to leave, sentries are set near the gourds, to protect the homes, hatchlings, and eggs.

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
One can tell a gourd wyrm is different from the day it hatches. The hatchling will have different colored scales, and it will show absolutely no interest in gourds. Some wyrm adults try to instill the love for gourds into the hatchlings, but the little creatures remain obsessed with eggplants. The hatchlings will eventually be taken in by the adults that share their interests. They accommodate easily with the new family. The hatchlings like to follow adult wyrms around, mimicking their behavior in the cutest way. They love to play hide and seek, so finding one inside the Keep's kitchens around All Hallow's Eve is not that uncommon. Even if they are most comfortable spending time near others of their kind, the hatchlings sometimes go exploring, relying on their incredible sense of direction to lead them back home. They avoid other wyrm hatchlings and sometimes act envious if those hatchlings receive more attention from magis than they do.
Adult Description
Spoiler
Adult wyrms act in a parent-like manner although they are unable to lay eggs. They care for the hatchlings just as much as they care for the eggplants. These wyrms act like all the others, hollowing out eggplants so new homes are ready for growing hatchlings, gathering food for the winter, and caring for the hatchlings. Interestingly, although they are different, these wyrms also collect gourd seeds. This is not for food, though. Some of these seeds are actually wyrm eggs and the adults are very careful in storing them inside special eggplants. These eggplants are larger than most and hollow inside. The eggs are placed inside and guarded permanently even if the wyrms have no natural predators. They allow no other creatures to approach their eggs and will become defensive if any magis come too close to them. The hatchlings that come out of these eggs rarely share the adult's interest in eggplants. Even so, the adults care for them immensely, nurturing them until the hatchlings are ready to move to the gourd patches.
Spoiler
Every gourd patch has a few odd individuals. In the gourd wyrms' case, there are some that lack interest in gourds, which is a rather concerning matter to all the other gourd wyrms. Having no interest in caring for the gourd patch or in hollowing out and storing food leads to these individuals' exile. However, for these wyrms, life outside the gourd patch is better as they have a very different interest - and it is not in pumpkins. These odd wyrms enjoy living on fields that have eggplants. Although not as many in number, these wyrms come together and form their own smaller families where they act in a very similar way to the pumpkin and other gourd wyrms. The wyrms are always busy with their eggplants, gathering eggplant flesh for the next season, taking apart dead or rotting eggplants, or hollowing out new ones. The hollowed eggplants are made into new homes for the growing hatchlings, even if there is no certainty these hatchlings will have the same passion for eggplants as the adults do. Those who lack the odd interest return to the gourd patches, where they are taken into the family and raised along with the other gourd wyrm hatchlings.
#1367: Iridiun Fae Wyrm
Sprite art: Xenomorph | Description: Sochitelya
This pumpkin seed appears to have sprouted delicate, iridescent wings.
(female) (male)
Hatchling Description
Spoiler
An iridiun fae wyrm hatchling is larger than expected given the size of its seed-mimicking egg; likely the reason their wings push through the egg's shell shortly before they hatch. However, they're still among the smallest of the wyrms, though they grow quickly. As iridiun fae wyrms have their pumpkins in regular patches, and usually only up to five in one patch, hatchlings often end up playing alone and will happily join a magi in games if the magi offers. They especially love to play with real pumpkin seeds, often arranging them in complicated patterns; and it isn't unusual to see a hatchling curled up hugging a seed while it sleeps.
Adult Description
Spoiler
An adult iridiun fae wyrm would seem like an easy target for predators, given their small size and attention-grabbing iridescent skin. However, these creatures are dangerous to eat: though not actively poisonous, harming them can bring about diseases of the body as well as diseases of crops. As they don't mate to reproduce, iridiun adults are often alone, at least when there aren't hatchlings that need to be taught. The exception to this is during the height of autumn, when all members of the patch - and sometimes members of other nearby patches - gather to dance through the autumn leaves in complicated motions that throw light from their skin and wings. Some magi think this dance guarantees a good harvest in the spring; others are of the opinion that the iridiun fae wyrms are simply celebrating the autumn before they settle in for their winter sleep.
Spoiler
Every now and then, magi find special pumpkins in their pumpkin patches: blues and yellows rather than the standard orange, and skin covered in patches of thin sparkling crystal. These pumpkins are considered a blessing, as they announce the presence of an iridiun fae wyrm. Like their cousins, the pumpkin wyrms, they live inside pumpkins and are most active in the autumn, when the bright leaves begin to fall and frost touches the grass early in the morning. In sunlight iridiun fae wyrms glimmer and shine, and can often be found playing in fallen leaves, a glint of light within the autumn reds and oranges. Their pumpkins are their homes, large and hollowed out to accommodate both the wyrms and their store of food to get them through the winter. A magi lucky enough to find an iridiun fae wyrm in their pumpkin patch should take special care to protect the pumpkin and its occupant, or risk a blight over their entire crop.
#1368: Candle Wyrm
Sprite art: Xenomorph | Description: Real[/quote]
Small, bioluminescent scales adorn this egg.
(night?) (day?)
Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Magical candle wyrm seeds hatch inside special hollow pumpkins, the smallest hatchlings coming out from them. These wyrm hatchlings are fragile looking and playful. They can usually be seen playing with a pumpkin seed, tossing it in the air, throwing it around, or happily barking at it. They play with their seed until it becomes tattered from all the day's wear and tear. When this happens, the wyrm will consume the seed and find a new one to play with. Even if they are so cheerful, the hatchlings are solitary creatures. They stay with other hatchlings only until they are able to fend for themselves, leaving the group to find a pumpkin they can call home soon after. They show little interest in other creatures and approach magis only when pumpkin treats are offered. The hatchlings can be tamed and raised as companions if treated with care, requiring two things to be happy: the perfect pumpkin they can turn into a home and plenty of treats.
(female) (day?) (male) (day?)
Adult Description
Spoiler
Adult candle wyrms mate only after finding a suitable partner. This individual can be of either gender since the wyrms do not produce their own eggs. However, it is important for them to find a partner that can help care for the magical pumpkin seeds. They are not comfortable socializing with other creatures, which means the adult candle wyrms rely on the bioluminescence of their bodies to attract a mate. It is a rare occurrence for the first wyrm attracted by the other's colors to be the perfect match, so the adults spend many months searching for the right partner. Once this happens, the two wyrms will hollow a pumpkin to serve as the future home for the magical seeds. In some instances, the two wyrms will share a large pumpkin as a home, while in others, the wyrms will bring together their own pumpkins to live as neighbors. They take turns guarding the magical seeds that appear in their hollowed pumpkin, protecting it with their lives if they must. Although they care for the hatchlings, they show more interest in preparing new pumpkins for candle wyrm seeds, working in harmony for the rest of their lives.
General Description
Spoiler
Candle wyrms are another type of pumpkin wyrm that has recently been discovered. They are native to the Candle Archipelago, and in many ways different from the pumpkin wyrms the magis are used to. Although these wyrms make their homes inside hollow pumpkins, they do not live in pumpkin patches. This may be because pumpkin patches do not exist in the archipelagos or because the wyrms have little interest in living with others of their kind. Whatever the reason, the candle wyrms have made their way to the Keep via shipments from the archipelago, and as they loved the area so much, they decided to stay. The wyrms are silent creatures, quietly creeping up in places that have pumpkin treats. Their bioluminescent bodies are the only thing that gives them away. Many legends revolve around these wyrms as their glowing bodies are said to represent the spirits passed in the afterlife. There is no proof of this, but such stories continue to be told, frequent during All Hallow's Eve when the wyrms swarm the Keep for its autumnal festivities.
