No one is quite sure how oracle trees come into being, but magi speculate that when a tree grows truly ancient, the earth magic absorbed over millennia of life slowly imbues them with sentience and movement. Oracle trees are slow and venerable, generally unconcerned with the dealings of humans or magi, and most of them are found deep within the Silva Forest, where the only hint to an intrepid adventurer that the trees are alive is an errant trembling of branches when there is no wind to disturb them. Some trees are more curious than others, however, and venture out to meet and observe magi. Over time, oracle trees have gained an ominous reputation, as they can sense impending disasters, and the more sociable ones will crawl out of the forest to warn their magi allies, associating them with misfortune. They will also not hesitate to clobber anything or anyone that feels threatening, and then slowly settle their roots over the victim’s corpse to absorb the nutrients. Such incidents are increasingly rare, though, as the Keep now carefully protects the oldest trees in Silva from being cut.

Sometimes, when one ventures deep enough into Silva Forest, the trees seem to shift between one day and the next. This is no illusion or other trick of sorcery, as oracle trees make their home inside the forest, and these massive trees will slowly lumber about as they please. Travelers would do well to treat the forest respectfully, as oracle trees will shift to create clear paths for people they like, and purposely create twisty, treacherous roads to nowhere for those they loathe. Some trees have a curious nature or an inclination to wander, though, bringing them out of the forest and near where humans dwell. Occasionally this causes such trouble as a tree plopping down in the middle of an important road and refusing to move, and in such cases magi are needed to mediate. Some magi deeply invested in earth magic have befriended oracle trees, such that a few reside at the Keep. They watch the comings and goings of the magi, and the occasionally consult on historical matters they have witnessed if in a good mood.

edit2: i didn't have any creatures in my main tab, but i guess you need the creatures in your keep? sorry for the bad info (usually you need them in your main tab so i didn't clock it)
