Looks like they are based off of Purple gallinule!
Love them!!!
And yes they walk in and live on Lilly pads! I’ve seen them in person down in Florida!

Tbh they are probably based off New Zealand Pukeko! (Given the name, lmao). The 5 shard doni looks a bit more like them than the purple swamphen/gallinule. Same family of birds, but the name/type of bird already exists, and yes, they live a similar kind of life to purple swamphens! (Given that they are both gallinules). We have them here in Australia too, they're so pretty.

I adore these, telling myself not to get extras but I think I will, and I haven't done that since the Dark/Royal Peacocks, lol. These are stuuuunning, plus it's nice to get some southern hemisphere rep with the name! (Loved the Numbat recently for that reason as well.)

They are purple swamp hens from Australia - have them in my town actually - but they may be related to the NZ ones since they look practically the same thing
