May Donis 1222 & 1223 & 1224 Stone Uguay

Post by Danafox »

Lakiran Uguay - 3 shard
Image
Marine plants grow on top of his egg.

General Description
Spoiler
Solitary and prideful creatures, uguay are more focused on the growth of their plants rather than starting and maintaining families. The only times these creatures socialize with other uguay is when they accidentally swim in the same area in search of food or shiny pebbles to decorate their shells. When this happens, the uguay will abandon all activities and begin a fierce competition of showing off their plant-filled shells, tirelessly trying to put the other turtle to shame for hours. It would be an impressive display of unique, complicated swimming patterns with sunrays shining on their shells from different angles if they weren't small enough to be completely ignored by other creatures - that, or the local marine life has gotten tired of the uguay nonsense. Getting these creatures to put their pride aside and mate is a long and tiring effort. Dedicated magi will spend years trying to get two uguay to befriend and finally start a family. If the potent life magic that aids them in growing their plants hadn't been so useful in making healing potions, the struggle to help the uguay survive as a species would have been long forgotten.

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
The main activities of young uguay are to eat and focus their energy on the marine plants that grow on their shells. Hatchlings are abandoned by their parents as soon as they're able to feed on their own and it is believed that this treatment is what sparks their dislike for other uguay. If it weren't for the small fish that swim around their plants the uguay hatchlings would exile themselves from the rest of the world completely. Fortunately, the hatchlings grow accustomed to the fish rather quickly as they soon realize these help them grow and maintain their plants by nibbling them, and most importantly they trim the leaves giving them unique looks, something the uguay take pride in from a young age. As soon as they control enough water magic to create bubbles around their plants, the uguay will venture on land during night time in search of specific tasty flowers, their clawed feet helping them immensely in their strolls.
Image
Adult Description
Spoiler
Most uguay adults spend their time at the bottom of lakes, feeding on different plants. If not in the water, the uguay will venture on land to have a taste of different blossoms. It is not an uncommon thing to spot one of these turtles staring into a puddle, admiring their own shells. Lakiran uguay prefer to do this on the hottest of days when most creatures are too sleepy to bother them from their narcissistic activities. This is the best time to approach an uguay as praising their looks might give a magi the chance to befriend them. Many magi who specialize in healing magic take uguay as companions. The sap squeezed from their plants contains potent life magic that is useful in making healing potions and salves. They are easy to care for as the only thing they require is a lake or a pond with small fish. In theory, the most one has to do is to remove a few leaves from the uguay's plants and they're set for a few batches of potions. However, these turtles do not appreciate others touching their most prideful possession and it can result in bitten fingers as they snap at everyone who tries to approach them.

Most uguay adults spend their time at the bottom of lakes, feeding on different plants. If not in the water, the uguay will travel on land to have a taste of different blossoms. It is not an uncommon thing to spot one of these turtles staring into a puddle, admiring their own shells. Alvean uguay prefer to do this at night time, when the moon shines brightly on their shells, giving them a somewhat fluorescent look. Stone Uguay - from Artificer Shop 3,800g
Image
Moss grows on this heavy egg.

General Description
Spoiler
Legend has it that long ago the artificers wanted to copy the benefits of having uguay as companions without going through the trouble of befriending the real creatures. They tried using different materials and fabrics in creating them and after many failed attempts they settled on one stone in particular. Mined from the mountains of Me'chuan, the obsidian found there proved to be the most effective in growing some sort of plant life if enchanted with enough life magic. In their zealous attempts to make these uguay better than their live counterparts, the artificers were too late to realize their magic did not stick to their creations as intended, and everything they imbued the stone bodies with animated them instead of causing plants to grow on the shells. Therefore, no fish were attracted to them when submerged and the artificers deemed the project a failure. Nowadays, the stone uguay can be found in artificer-run stores, trinkets sold for cheap prices.

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Stone uguay eggs can remain dormant for months, even years, and only when they are long forgotten by their owners do they crack and reshape into tiny turtle hatchlings. As they do not require any sort of attention, many have discovered their stone uguay hatchlings in weird places around their abodes, such as on top of the highest shelves, inside recently used ovens, or even in a sock drawer. If paying close attention to them, these creatures will not move and appear to be devoid of life. Some claim they are too shy to move when their owners are around, others say they do not have enough life magic to travel for extended periods of time. One thing is for sure, though: stone uguay hatchlings will remain motionless for as long as someone keeps a close eye on them.

Adult Description
Spoiler
The stone uguay grow so slow that it is uncertain when the hatchlings reach adulthood. Many of their owners see them fit as pond ornaments, their moss-covered shells blending in nicely with the scenery of both natural and artificial ponds. Some hold out hope and place the stone uguay inside the water, wishing for fish to finally become attached to these creations now that they appear to be fully grown. No one has seen something like that happen, though, and many blame it on the stone uguay themselves as they tend to disappear from their set locations overnight and reappear in the strangest of places. Sometimes it can be a funny situation, finding the uguay stuck on its shell on top of a bookshelf, while on other occasions, less amusing, they can be found at the bottom of a filled bathtub, staring lifelessly at their owners. Whichever the case, they are usually taken back to the ponds. Students who specialize in plant magic sometimes take stone uguay as companions, taking different approaches in growing something more than moss on their shells but so far the most anyone has ever managed to achieve was to slightly change the leaves' coloration.

The only thing that these adults need is the fish to be slightly animated and if there was animated bubbles around the turtles. Otherwise they are just GORGEOUS TURTLES <3
