there's usually a spring event, it's not necessarily an equinox event. there's also usually something for april fool's -usually the time frame is "april fools, followed by the spring event, but who knows, they could decide to change it up this year.

EDIT: checking the bdays on my april 1st critters vs spring events, it's a bit variable when the spring event starts (sometimes it's directly after april 1st, sometimes a few weeks after so it's more mid-monthish/end of the monthish, but it's mostly been in april, not march)
(pronouns: they/them)
.

<3 clicks appreciated (to hatchling only please) <3

Yeah the Spring Event usually coincides with when easter happens irl. which tends to change from year to year.

Easter is traditionally the first Sunday after the first full moon after March 21*.

* Random fact I learned in high school (and still remember) to prep for an "It's about time" Science Olympiad event.

For some of you :derp:
Other religions celebrate it on different dates. For me easter is on 2nd of May this year.

I think a mod said at some point that this event has nothing to do with easter, though, but with the coming of spring - whenever that is considered to happen.

That's right, Easter in the Orthodox church doesn't always match up with the Catholic church. It's not something I always remember because no one I know IRL is Orthodox.

I'm not a very religious person, so it's just another Sunday to me.

I've always liked equinoxes because of the idea of balance - day and night, between summer and winter.

We had a rather wintry Spring Equinox this year - cold, gloomy and with a bit of snow >.<

Where I live, we've got a very old tradition connected to the first day of spring, "drowning of Marzanna" - children are making a small Marzanna doll (symbol of winter) of twigs and straw. Then they carry Marzanna to the local river and they toss it into the water, to chase away the winter for good.

Good things come to those who click!

Wow, that's a wild tradition! I feel like I'd be that one kid keeping my doll instead of tossing it and dooming us all to eternal winter.

We're having grey and wet weather here. Not unusual for the PNW, but I was hoping for nice hiking weather and then it snowed in the area we were going to hike. Had to cancel the birthday hike :(

Instead we are watching the Snyder cut >.>
