#Creature 1151 - Neket Carro
The Egg
This egg has brightly colored feathers and a shining gem.
Spoiler
These creatures are bright and colorful, which belies how sinister some people find them. The reason lies in the gem that every one of these creatures possesses. Peering into the gem, with the creature's permission, gives one a view of future events, though there is much debate whether events seen within the gem are mutable or not. What is certain, however, is what is seen in the gem at the height of the solstice. After flying high in the skies at noon on the longest day of the year, the neket carro will land and allow trusted individuals to peer into the gem. What is seen will be the manner of the observer's death. Most do not want to do it.
Spoiler
Neket carros care deeply for their young while they are in the egg, and make sure each hatchling safely emerges with their gem. Even when first hatched, neket carros are composed and mature creatures. Their feathers have their characteristic colorful plumage, and they will molt often as they grow, the shining feathers worth a surprising amount to collectors. While small, your neket carro still soars the skies with grace, seeking out fallen animals to consume. The gem on their head is small, but shadowy visions can still be seen.
Spoiler
While they are carrion eaters, neket carros are very clean, keeping their colorful plumage spotless and shining. They also take care not to dirty the gems they carry, which are taken from shells of their egg and imbued with magic from their parents. Magi at the keep often study the visions they see within the gems, but must be respectful of the vulture to do so. Those who bond with a neket carro will find themselves with a keen protector, and their neket carro will often fly in circles above their heads on a constant watch for their safety. Of course, some say that the neket carro knows the hour and manner of their companion's death, and is only waiting.
