My pairs to make Cinnabars have failed again. So 5 attempts, and 5 fails.
This is absolutely rotten. I think their failure rate is far too high unless you're hatching, growing, and breeding like mad (I'm going at a fairly decent pace even, in my opinion, just not at as high of a pace as a handful of others who are getting the Cinnabars).

That's some serious bad luck! Rosehill's stated that the highest failure rate is 50% for this contest, so it seems like you had the worst kind of streak. (There's a 3% chance of all 5 of your attempts failing!) Don't give up, though - maybe your next 5 will all succeed to make up for your terrible luck!Jadeunicorn wrote:My pairs to make Cinnabars have failed again. So 5 attempts, and 5 fails.

As far as cooldown potions go, I think it's great that they were disabled for this contest. Everyone is subject to the same whims of RNGsus as a result. Again, to me, there's a huge difference between starting with the max number of items that will let you set up a breeding and hope it works, and starting with max items that let you brute force a breeding until it works.
Also def agree that some of the egg hatching methods are maybe a bit...fishy! I'm definitely going to side-eye you if your fish all miraculously get exactly the number of anonymous clicks needed to hatch them in like 5 minutes. Twitter bots are good, but generally not 3 rows of anonymous clicks good.

Re: July 2020 Competition - Fishing Flies - Discussion
I only have 2 pairs (the 5 failures was total breeding attempts over the entirety of the contest), and I don't think I'll have another before the end of the contest, so I actually will only have 2 more attempts on Tuesday for the contest (and I kind of want to wait to breed them until Wednesday because I seriously don't need more failures pissing me off on my birthday ).Kestrad wrote:That's some serious bad luck! My anti-record is 8 failed attempts in row. Fortunately, I have pretty decent rate now.Kestrad wrote:That's some serious bad luck! That's a mood. Yeah, I'm fine with ya'll tweeting stuff, sure, 7 extra anon clicks, your egg is halfway hatched, that's cool, fine. But when I stalk the clicking thread and a new variant I've not yet seen has grown into an adult without me ever even seeing the egg that's a big eyebrow raise right there - or when I see like 20+ Anonymous on a critterKestrad wrote:Also def agree that some of the egg hatching methods are maybe a bit...fishy! I'm at 663 points, but I got 5 Ulysses growing so I won't get dat memeable 666 (but I could get 669 hehe nice
Reached 25 Sunsets finally, but I've failed so many breedings today there was literally a point where I had nothing higher than Swallowtail to breed and that was pretty maddening. I swear, the Tree Nymps are the worst in every category. They are a mean one Mr. Grinch
Mmmmmmmmmm like just now. 3 attempts at Sunsets, but because Nymph is a part of the breeding concoction all 3 failed, of course. (+1 Birdwing & Ulysses fail, Ulysses Swallowtail gave me an egg though but gosh that's not the critter I need more of at the moment)
Tree Nymph? More like, Thee Numb

to be fair in terms of hatching with anon clicks, i can easily get a row and a half with the link shorteners and getting people to click on them in Discord, which tend to hatch the eggs pretty quickly (along with a quick 3-4 posts in egg click threads). however, i am seeing people with over 4 rows of anon clicks and sometimes i'm getting extra anon clicks on my own creatures which i'm not sure where they are coming fromReima wrote:That's a mood. This doesn't make me feel better. It just means my attempt 6 and 7 in three days will fail and no Cinnabars for me during the contest.NelwNoll wrote:My anti-record is 8 failed attempts in row. Fortunately, I have pretty decent rate now.
You're hatching like crazy, so thankfully you've had more chances!
Us middle-of-the-road hatchers (and lower) have it rough when the RNG gods doom us.

It took me most of the competition to get a pair of Cinnabars and the little jerks give me an egg on the first try. RNG is laughing at me I swear

I've been focusing mostly on the personal goals and it's helped me garner quite a few points the past couple of days. I admittedly have way too much time on my hands.
Spoiler
i'm sitting at a little over 1000
