Creature #1135 - Temple Runner - June 2-Shard

Post by Tyriagris »

I'm not seeing a thread yet, so here we are! The next in our line of temple creatures, it seems, and if the chirping and purring in the description holds up then boy oh boy do I need to get a few...

Egg:
Image
Spoiler
The occasional cheep or purr comes from this warm, fluffy egg.
Hatchling: (no dimporphism)
Image
Spoiler
Hatchling temple runners may look mildly disgruntled at all times, but they're actually quite affectionate and willing to cuddle up in a warm lap. However, when actually annoyed, they also have no issue in expressing their displeasure with squawks, growls, and scolding chirps. Magi raising runner hatchlings have at most two months before the hatchlings discover their speed, but fortunately runners aren't able to phase until they're fully-grown.
Adult:
Image(female)
Spoiler
An adult temple runner has a long body and powerful legs, suited to attaining high speeds. Though lightly built, they are still carnivores who possess sharp teeth and a powerful bite; however they tend to be patient and curious creatures, happy to lie in the sun and have their heads scratched when not needed to carry messages. Temple runners are good parents and prefer to have a hidden area to raise their hatchlings for the first few months, but once the hatchlings are old enough, families are often spotted playing together.
General:
Spoiler
Lean and fast, temple runners have been used for thousands of years to take important messages great distances. Runners possess the ability to phase from one physical area to another, once they reach their top speed. This allows them to traverse the world in a matter of hours, though longer distances mean more time for the runner to rest and recuperate. Highly valued, temple runners are rare to find in the wild, and expensive to purchase even as unhatched eggs.

(pronouns: they/them)
