SOON :t-boo: :t-boo:

ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE UNICORNS AND THE EVENT!

First of all, the Unicorns: Every Forgotten Unicorn that is caught before October 31st will initially have its rotating sprite frozen, based on the time it is picked up from the stream. Every Forgotten Unicorn that is caught starting from October 31st will initially have a rotating sprite. Starting from October 31st it will be possible to make a frozen-sprite Unicorn's sprite rotate, and to make a rotating-sprite Unicorn's sprite frozen.

Second of all: due to the server acting up under the pressure of the event (now fixed, thanks to Madd) and due to the confusion about the Forgotten Unicorns, the event will be extended by two days. The stream will flood up to and including November 4th instead of November 2nd, and the Halloween Shop will remain up to and including November 4th, and the quest can be started up to and including November 4th. Gifting schedule will remain as was originally stated.

Creatures:

#1042 Forgotten Unicorn (Limited creature. Stream, will not be able to breed)
The form of the hatchlings and adults is based on the time it is picked up from the Stream.
Image
This egg was abandoned.
Image Image Image Image
(6am-noon / noon-6pm / 6pm-midnight / midnight-6am)
Spoiler
Sometimes, eggs grow cold, and the parents abandon them. Sometimes, magi think their eggs will never hatch, and forget about them. And sometimes, as autumn looms and the nights grow long a dark, a shadow passes by, a dark horn touches the shell, and the egg hatches anyway. The hatchling is always a unicorn - an adorable, energetic little unicorn with a red mane. It loves to play. At least in the morning.
ImageImageImageImage
(6am-noon / noon-6pm / 6pm-midnight / midnight-6am)
Spoiler
The unicorn is gaunt, but loving. At least in the morning. Only the bravest can bear to see what it becomes. And only the most skilled, powerful magi let it out at night. It is driven to make more, and must be controlled. There are so many young ones that die, and so many opportunities.

Burying the dead is a good idea. Burying eggs that didn't survive is a better idea. If you don't, they may be touched by its twisted horn. What emerges isn't what you buried.

#1043 Livian Bat (Permanent creature. Stream, will be able to breed)
Image
This slightly fuzzy egg smells of grass and fruit.
Image
Spoiler
If you had poured half as much time and attention into your studies as you have into cultivating a Livia fig tree in your greenhouse, you probably would have finished at the very top of your class. Today you are triumphant as you carefully place your tiny livian bat hatchling on a low branch and watch closely. The tree seems to shiver, leaves curling around your hatchling, and there is no trace of the sap that has given you more than a few nasty burns. Your hatchling begins to daintily nibble upon a small fig, and you flop back onto a nearby bench in relief. Once the tree is large enough to support more livian bats, you'll get your hatchling some new friends.
Image
Spoiler
A fully grown Livia fig tree can support a large colony of livian bats. The bats weave leaves and vines into nests in the tree branches. These nests will continue to grow along with the tree, and are added to as needed to fit the needs of the colony. Adult livian bats prefer to only feed upon the figs from their fig tree, though they will accept other food if absolutely no other choice is available. A fully grown livian bat is not much larger than the figs they eat, and watching them harvest extra figs for humans they like can be very funny. An especially large fig may require the efforts of several adults, and it is not uncommon to see a young bat overestimate its strength and plummet straight to the ground, squeaking in mortification. When this happens, other colony members will immediately come to the aid of their fallen friend.
General description:
Spoiler
Livian bats are found on the fringes of Foenara's Grass Forest. It is believed they may also live deeper in the forest but various expeditions into the forest have not found any. These bats form colonies and are found living in the branches of the native Livia fig trees. These fig trees are only found in Foenara, though the Herbalist's Guild believes they may be grown elsewhere with the correct care. Livia figs are an important export of Foenara due to their powerful magical property: when consumed these fruits allow a person to speak any language as well as understand any language spoken to them. Livian bats are crucial to the harvest of these fruits as the trees produce an extremely caustic sap when approached by another living being. More study is needed to determine exactly why the trees allow the bats to live in them and feed upon the fruit without harm.

#1044 Kericalla Bat (Permanent creature. Stream, will be able to breed)
Image
This egg is slightly fuzzy, with stripes of orange and black.
Image
Spoiler
A trip to the Callisto Islands is always a treat, and this time you are staying with the family of a fellow magi. Like most islander families they tend to the needs of a family of kericalla bats, and on your first day you were gifted with an egg. Now it is ready to hatch, and you have prepared a small gourd for it, lining it with soft, fragrant grasses and a sprig of tiny orchid blooms. A sharp crack, a indignant squeal, and you find yourself peering down at a curious little bat. You hold out your hand to your new friend and smile as it claws its way onto your palm and spreads out its wings to dry. It cannot fly just yet, but you can already see the beginnings of brilliant orange markings on those impossibly delicate wings.
Image
Spoiler
Your kericalla bat has been growing more and more agitated the closer you get to the small village of Stonehallow. The late autumn night is cold for a creature from the islands, and you begin to hurry in the hopes of reaching an inn. As you come around a bend in the path, you find yourself in front of a graveyard. Your kericalla shivers and hisses and as you peer at the tombstones you see something and it is moving. It is human in shape, rotten grey and sickly green with eyes yellow from jaundice. A hoarse, rattling cough rips from its cracked and bloody lips as it stares at you, and you know you should run but you are frozen in shock and fear. As its hand slowly raises, a sharp scream pierces through the fear. Your kericalla bat flies forward, hissing and shrieking, its orange wings glowing bright as flames in the night. The thing in the graveyard hisses and steps back, and you watch as your bat harries it back into its grave. When it has judged everything safe, it flies back to your shoulder and gently rests its tiny head against your cheek. You place a trembling hand on its brightly painted wings and shudder as you stumble towards the village.
General description:
Spoiler
Natives to the Callisto Islands, kericalla bats are found in every village. They are small, barely the size of your palm, and their delicate wings are streaked with brightly glowing orange stripes. Kericalla bats are revered by the islanders as guardians against the vengeful ghosts of those who died from sickness and fever. The islanders grow large calabash gourds that they dry and fashion into roosts and nests for the kericallas. The bats then decorate their nests with dried flowers, leaves, and even tiny seashells. After the evening meal, many families will light tiny lanterns and place them near the kericalla nests in order to attract moths and other insects for the bats to feast upon. During family gatherings and feasts, it is not uncommon to see a kericalla fluttering around an open door, waiting for someone to catch an annoying cricket or fly.

#1045 Sepulghul (Limited creature. Stream, Halloween shop 5,000 gold, will not be able to breed)
Image
You do not wish to touch this egg, it smells rotten and seems to be leaking odd fluids.
Image
Spoiler
Your sepulghul egg began hatching tonight. You have opened the window to let out the stench that seems to billow from the widening cracks in its shell, but the noxious fumes burn your eyes and nose. You cough and turn away, only to hear a loud crack, like bones snapping. On the table in front of you is a pile of rotten bones, glistening wet in the moonlight. A high pitched shriek sends you stumbling back as tiny fangs snap at the air. It is hungry.
Image
Spoiler
You haven't seen a living rat in months, not since your sepulghul learned to fly. It spends the daylight hours sleeping peacefully in an old wardrobe you cleaned out for it, but come nightfall it crawls out to groom its wings before beginning to hunt. Tonight you have brought it a few decessus hatchlings in the hopes that it will like them better than the mortifelis you offered yesterday. It licks at the tail of a decessus and chitters softly. You nod, pick up your pen and a piece of parchment. You do not know if others have learned of the telepathic abilities of sepulghuls, but you are in no hurry to tell anyone. There are tombs filled with the treasures of dead kings buried in the desert, and you will be the one to find them.
General description:
Spoiler
The desert has many secrets, and the sepulghul may be responsible for many of them. Travelers are advised to avoid any abandoned places and especially any sort of burial site, lest they find themselves being attacked by sepulghuls. These creatures feed on rotted blood and decaying flesh, and they will hunt the living when they are unable to find enough corpses. While a single sepulghul is small enough to pose only a minor threat to an adult, they live in massive groups that can easily take down a caravan. This is why those native to Etain refuse to travel on moonless nights and insist on burying the dead as soon as possible.

#1046 Skelmblor (Limited creature. Halloween shop 5,000 gold, will not be able to breed.)
Image
This egg has sharp bones wrapping its shell.
Image Image (f/m)
Spoiler
Skelmblor hatchlings hate light. A wise magi will hatch their egg in the dark. Upon hatching, they will curl up wherever it is dark, whether it be underground if they are in the wild or hidden in their magi’s cloak if they are raised at the keep. Their immediate instinct is to burrow, and if not watched can get very far underground, a tiny hole the only sign of their activity. However, they lack the sense of direction that adults do, and in time a panicked chittering will emerge from the hole if they are alone. In lieu of letting them burrow, many magi let them scoot around in blankets when they are small. As they get older, however, they must be taught to burrow safely, and preferably far away from civilization. The more they burrow, they bigger they get.
Image Image (f/m)
Spoiler
Skelmblors are enormous creatures. Adults can be as large as a farmhouse with their skeletal wings spread wide. They rarely emerge from underground, however. It is not known if they eat, as their bodies do not seem to require sustenance of any sort, yet they grow all the same. Their travels underground will shake the earth above, and the largest ones can cause massive earthquakes if not strictly controlled. They do love diamonds and other precious, glittering rocks that are pressed deep within the earth, though no one is sure why. Diamonds don’t shine far beneath the earth, after all. Extremely well-trained Skelmblors will even bring back shining stones for their magi, but this is rare. Skelmblors are willful, and as unpredictable as an earthquake. Some magi claim that they do not cause earthquakes, merely travel along fault lines that cause earthquakes themselves, but most don’t believe this.
General description:
Spoiler
The rustling of branches, the shaking of trees, and long cracks in the ground mark the passage of a Skelmblor. Most people steer clear of these signs, unwilling to risk meeting the vicious creatures. Quakes generated by them moving deep beneath the earth have ruined farmhouses and frightened any who experienced them. When they approach cities, they bring disaster, and mages are often called to help to lure them away. The creatures favor gems and other shining objects, especially diamonds, and will follow a person holding one for a very long distance, emerging from underground to take their prize when it is offered. Some people believe that these creatures amass vast reserves of treasure and magical items deep underground. However, no one who has ever gone to find one of these mythical hoards has ever returned.

#1047 Vahti (Limited creature. Halloween shop 5,000 gold, will be able to breed.)
Image
Gently pulsing red light spills out through the arrowhead-shaped slits in this egg's pale shell.
Image
Spoiler
Vahti hatchlings spend their days lying on their bellies with their heads stretched out, usually on a busy path or corridor so magi trip over them. This seems to be satisfying to them but most magi find vahti hatchlings hard to read. Occasionally the hatchlings will reach out with their extra hands to pat and touch whatever is nearby, but fortunately they never mean any harm by it. At night they become slightly more active in the search for food; the more rotten the better. This diet of rotten food quickly makes vahti hatchlings begin to stink, and the majority of magi who care for one will ensure that it lives somewhere outside where it can't offend the noses of everyone in range.
Image
Spoiler
An adult vahti is a stout, solid creature with a surprisingly pleasant, playful personality despite its appearance and the stench of rotten flesh that clings to it. This isn't to say that they can't or won't bite with their long teeth, an injury that usually results in necrosis. The red slits on their shoulders show a glimpse of the pulsing flesh beneath and glow at night, flashing in patterns that the vahti use to communicate. Vahti are mostly loners who only come together with their own kind to mate, and leave their eggs in random places to be picked up by magi or - rarely, given their terrible taste - eaten by predators. However, some magi report that vahti they encounter in graveyards seem to want to play fetch, though they have a tendency to offer bones as their toy of choice.
General description:
Spoiler
Vahti are also known as graveyard sentinels, for their usual occupation of guarding the resting places of the dead. Generally slow-moving, they're still capable of surprising bursts of speed and agility. Magi who visit graveyards often leave small tokens of rotten meat and dying flowers to show the vahti that they mean no harm being in their territory. If there are no other options, magi can safely sleep in a graveyard guarded by a vahti, but should be aware that the graveyard's sentinel will often come over to stroke its extra fingers through the sleeping magi's hair.

Interesting timing with the new bunnies and devil fish. Think there's any correlation?
