Heyla! The new Doni's are in the shop!!!

This egg is solid and heavy, but it feels comfortable when you hold it.
ImageHatchling
Spoiler
Your young caprichthys has hatched out powerful and gentle. It is easy to please as it enjoys being around any being or creature and seems to love you like a loyal dog. The creature is confined to water, but will gladly take up residence in Lake Lakira interacting with the creatures that swim by. It has its own patch of lake and a small collection of rocks and shells laid out in a pattern to guard. Despite the creature's ability to swim freely where it pleases and its fondness for other creatures, it seems far more eager to remain near its small territory than wander.

Spoiler
The caprichthys are unique companions of the mer-folk, seldom seen for the mer-folk are secretive and live in caves deep underwater. What little is known about their caprichthys usually comes from abandoned undersea temples where the more frightening of the species, the Hadean variety, live. The creatures are a variant of capricorn, bred specifically for the purpose of guarding. As such, they are larger, stronger, and smarter, with heavier hooves and longer horns to frighten off intruders. While encounters with caprichthys are rare and tensions with the mer-folk remain high, their eggs are occasionally given as gifts to magi the mer-folk trust. Arcadian caprichthys are the more docile variety, said to guard places of import in living mer-folk cities. In practice, they seem to act more as guides and greeters than true guards, as there are rarely threats for them to protect their companions against thanks to the mermaids' powerful water magic.

This egg is perfectly normal, but it gives you an uneasy feeling when you hold it.

Spoiler
Your young caprichthys has hatched out scrawny but feisty. It is difficult to please as it is apt to grow irate at little provocation. The creature is thankfully confined to the water, or else it would probably destroy your room and anything in it. As is, you are careful to keep it in its own pool. Despite the creature's temper, it seems quite calm when alone.

Hadean caprichthys are far more aggressive than their counterparts, defending the grounds of old temples as though guarding valuables. Some claim that they are Arcadian caprichthys whose homes have been abandoned, the creatures turned corrupted through grief and dark magic. This is of course nonsense, as the mermaids will occasionally gift Hadean caprichthys eggs to magi they come to know well. It is noteworthy, however, that they never confirm nor deny the rumors. And the Hadean egg gifts often turn into something more like a curse...

Aww, cute little babu guarding it's spot. I know they're capricorns, but the behavior reminds me of a cross of a young dragon (my treasure!) and a bowerbird (because everything's laid out carefully).
