3 and 5 shards can generally interbreed and will produce either of the parent species.Morohtar wrote:
Thanks a lot, I'll be crossing fingers then that they will be breedable with one another at least. :'D *already bought one of each*

Makes me wonder though...are Crystalwings considered dragons or birds? Several of them mention them being birds in the description, but Pygmies state they're a hybrid of two different dragons.

I've wondered that too.RobotChimera wrote:Makes me wonder though...are Crystalwings considered dragons or birds? Several of them mention them being birds in the description, but Pygmies state they're a hybrid of two different dragons.
According to Rijolt, the artist who created them (or, drew the original sprite for the elders through to the GB ones) they're dragons, scales and all.

But they didn't write the descriptions (according to the Bestiary Damien did), which call them birds. Even though they're, not really birds? I mean, they don't have a beak and have four legs. The only thing they have in common with birds is feathered wings.
I always considered them dragons (I didn't even realize for the longest time that the descriptions called them birds)

They are Crystalwings, which are neither dragons nor birds. People just don't always know what to call things correctly, that goes for the MS world as well as for ours.BBkat wrote:I've wondered that too.RobotChimera wrote:Makes me wonder though...are Crystalwings considered dragons or birds? I mean, it's like trying to class a fish as either a dog or a cat. Apples and oranges and bell peppers; none of these things are like the others

React to it like: I'm allergic to one but not the other, so can I keep it or not? xD
This Signature looks so bad on mobile. Good lord it is HUGE. I'll need to work on that at some point. For now though I sleep

Re: May Donis-Iluntz/Avgi Crystalwing (#879/880)
Well fish cannot breed with either dogs or cats so it's a bit different than that. Often hybrids will occur between species of the same genus so from a genetic standpoint it definitely matters how closely related they are to dragons.Merkwerkee wrote:I mean, it's like trying to class a fish as either a dog or a cat. Then again, we somehow have hybrids between a koi fish and an ibex here so genetics probably went out the window a long time ago. Just seems weird for the Pygmies to specifically mention being a hybrid of two dragons.
When I first saw the Elder Crystalwings I thought they were some form of fairy and not at all related to dragons or birds.

Re: May Donis-Iluntz/Avgi Crystalwing (#879/880)
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but did we ever get an answer to this?RobotChimera wrote:All donis are eventually breedable (of the same species) for 3 shards to produce another donation creature. There's no clue if they can breed with Rewins in the future though for pygmies.Morohtar wrote:Gosh, I am SO happy I saved my shards. :'D
Does anyone know whether or not they are breedable? (If they are, I'll need to get some money to buy two of each.)
Will the Iluntz and Avgi Crystalwings be able to breed with Rewin Dragons to produce Pygmy Illuntz and Avgi Gemdragons, and then breed the pygmy crystalwings?
I'm wondering because I JUST finished breeding all of last years pygmies and was going to get organized for next years, when I realized that the Illuntz and Avgis are donation creatures.. and I only bought 2 of each.
So far, the only CW's that can't be bred for pygmies are the elders, which is why we need to know.
I am in the process of moving house, so I will not be around much for the foreseeable future.
