Re: November mid-month?
(no hatchling gender dimorphism)
EGG:
This copper egg has a crest of bright jade spikes.
HATCHLING:
Hatchling copera are easily mistaken for toys, as they like to find a nice warm spot and stay there, not moving for much of anything unless forced. They start out thin and barely longer than a magi's forearm, and grow slowly, but they have no apparent maximum limit on size, as long as they can consume enough copper to keep building their bodies. This can cause issues for those areas that use copper piping, or for magi that need copper for their spells or other projects. Hatchling copera usually tolerate people around them, and even handling them, if that person also offers them some copper or a few small gems to add to their hoard.
GENERAL:
Found mostly underground in caves and old tombs, copera are curious creatures in that no one is entirely sure if they're alive or not. They appear to be made entirely of copper, with jade spikes running along their back and on the edges of their hood, and a gleaming sapphire set in the center of their forehead. The barb on their tail is wickedly sharp and they hoard enough fine gems to rival any dragon. Although they look fearsome, especially as they get older and bigger, they generally just want to be left alone to snuggle into their gem pile.

Re: November mid-month?
The hatchie looks like a snakey or wyrm, and the name hints at cobra, all shiny too.
EDIT - freakazoid's grew up, wow! That is gorgeous!
Female
No one is entirely sure how large an adult copera could grow, if it had an unlimited supply of copper to consume. There's something not quite real about their appearance and when they're still, magi could be forgiven for thinking that they're statues or toys. However, an adult copera can easily use the barb on its tail when threatened; they don't carry poison, but the barb can grow large enough to cause fatal wounds on its own. Magi who travel into underground caves are often known to carry a small bag of gems to offer to any copera they come across, in exchange for safe passage.
