I feel so stupid right now.
I renewed a membership for something not realizing they'd added more plans (that are pretty much all the same) and so, instead of paying $20 for a single year...I just paid $50 -_- Its non-refundable too, which makes matters worse.

I swear to all the stars in the sky if my college changes the layout of the student portal one more GODDAMNED TIME
I'm so completely over trying to find shit on this website, nothing is intuitive at all. I just want to pay for my next goddamn semester, is that so much to ask?

i've seen folks saying younger gen won't understand vhs having to be rewinded. what i haven't seen is mention that sometimes the vcr would jam up and spit all the tape out of a movie and it'd end up half flowing out of the vcr in a chaotic mess and sometimes get torn or bent in the effort of untangling the rest of it from the machine.
not sure why but i'm currently most un-fondly remembering my childhood introduction to the reality that machines can be temperamental goblins, and sometimes things that make you happy will break no matter how closely you try to follow the rules of using them.
i should probably be glad that i don't remember which specific event taught me that the second part of that doesn't just apply to machinery.
in any case, i wonder if the post-vhs gens properly appreciate their players not occasionally destroying their movies for no friggin reason ._.
also i am sad because i'm not sure exactly how many years it's been but i only got to watch that movie twice before it got eaten and i haven't seen it since.
the idea of having a cameras built into monitors these days kind of creeps me out, although i will acknowledge that it's probably useful for some remote jobs.
that said though the only downside i see to my barely post-clunker, very camera-less monitor is that if the marketing side of the internet ever did start spying on people through their monitors, they would be spared from seeing my middle finger habitually shown to every single ad that pokes its toe across the screen.
and i do mean every. it's like breathing at this point. we're talking a minimum of two birds per every monetized video watched.
i suspect i'm probably not the only one who does this. maybe that's part of why they haven't started watching people in that way. folks' dirty bedrooms, pets puking in the background, and excessive amounts of bored hand gestures aren't worth the effort of setting up such a surveillance system.

Spoiler
There are some days where I really want to leave this country. I know it won't stop the issues at hand, but man, the grass is looking much, much greener on the other side in some places... I'm just so tired of seeing these headlines and living in constant dread that the next mass shooting will happen in my area.

I learned what it is like to drown and no one bothers to help you. They just stood there laughing and pointing at me after I nearly panicked to my death since I thought I swam to shore and realized I couldn't touch the bottom.
