2020 continues to be...2020. I'm about ready to just throw in the towel and hibernate until 2021.

But also I agree, skipping the rest of 2020 seems okay to me.

It's just one thing after another. I mean, as soon as things start looking up for one thing, about 2-5 things go wrong elsewhere.

My partner, Raven, has possibly internal bleeding that's been going on for like a month or two. Her main doctor has been trying to refer her to a specialist for a whole month. She went on FMLA, unpaid leave from her job to get major abdominal surgery for something else and the internal bleeding came up in conversation. Her major abdominal surgery had to be pushed back. We started working on the referral in the meantime. She wanted to go back to work during this. Her doctor's office refused to give her the note to return to work because of the internal bleeding. She let her job know. They said that was fine, just keep them updated. They (her job) called her last Monday and suddenly said "Hey, we need something signed from your doctor stating why you cannot come back to work or you're fired on Friday." So less than a week to get something during a pandemic from a doctor's office that's busy as hell. We had been waiting for like 3 weeks at this point for the damn referral to even be SENT. So Raven calls up her doctors office and they give her a copy of the referral, which is signed. She sends that to her job. And they say it's not good enough. She needs to come back or she's fired. So she tells her doctor. They say, no you cannot return. You are possibly internally bleeding. She tells her job this. They say they don't care, she needs to come back or she's fired. She tells her doctor, hey I know y'all don't WANT to send me back but lemme sign like AMA (Against Medical Advice) or something and go back or else I lose my job and my income and MY INSURANCE to have the surgery and the ABILITY to see the specialist to not die.

They go back and forth all week, with both places refusing to compromise. So she got fired Friday, lost her insurance, we have no income, all that jazz. So I'm like well shit lemme up my job hunting. I've been doing some self employment shit and making enough to cover my bills since February, while passively job hunting and getting nothing because of my disabilities. (I don't qualify for disability/SSI/SSD because I have no work credits past 21 years of age because my stupid ex husband basically forced me to be a stay at home mom. Before 21, and when I was 19, I worked 120 hour weeks for a few months. I would have basically qualified my work credits just from that. But frick me, right?) Anyways! I always get to the interview, am very transparent about my disabilities because, quite literally, they will find out and they cannot be hidden. And I'd rather them know and be able to accommodate me beforehand instead of last minute screwing over the other employees and management. And being fired on the spot. Sure, it's anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to maybe a couple of months of income. But I'm just...not that kind of person. Even if I'm struggling.

So I've had 8 interviews in the past 2 weeks. And every single one has gone from "We are so impressed by your resume. Please come interview and work for us!!!!" to "Um, we'll let you know." and then crickets. And Raven is job hunting like crazy, too, but her health is declining pretty rapidly from all the stress and now not having rent money or any way to see the doctor for her issues. And it's just...it sucks.

And if we don't pay rent, we're evicted. We're not in one of the areas where there is eviction protection. So I just...idk what to do.

And this isn't even counting family issues.

I hope you and your partner get this figured out soon! That's a very scary thing to go through, and I'm pissed that her job would just do that to her when she is in the midst of a medical crisis and NEEDS that insurance.

Our governor is predicting that my state will get the vaccine for covid by mid December. I hate to be a skeptic, but I really doubt his claims, considering his past record of broken promises and letdowns. I can only hope. We are averaging 4k cases per day now and it's getting scary with towns within the metro are relaxing restrictions. I'm definitely going to be asking my doctor about the vaccine at my appointment next week. Since I'm so high risk (chronic adrenal problems and suppressed immune system) I hope I can get vaccinated. Then I pray to god that there will be some kind of return to normalcy. I've been dying to bleach my hair since the beginning of the year and planned to get it done over the summer, but then the pandemic started and the rest is history. I'd do it myself if I had the skills to get even coverage, which I fail at even when using box dye to color my hair. And I really don't trust my mom doing it because I'm worried it'll be uneven and incredibly brassy. It's better to leave it to a professional lol.

If you lived in my state I'd be falling over myself to try to hook you up with resources, but a quick Google showed me that Texas is a very different place on a health and social service front from what I'm used to working with (and it'd be unsolicited at that).

I wish you luck. I wish there were something more to offer.

I learned recently that our state will have vaccines as early as next month, but there's a big caveat. At first they will be in very limited supply, and will only go to healthcare workers. I think there is going to be a big difference between vaccines existing and actually being able to get them on request. Pretty much, the vaccine is going to be only for people treating COVID patients. Which makes logical sense, but is a harder sell when you have to tell people they don't qualify for a life-saving medical intervention.

I worry that politicians are getting people's hopes up when only a select few will have meaningful access this calendar year.

In real world, some chick at work was sensitive and said I diminished her input by not acknowledging her as the main question-answerer in our group chat. Well, A: you weren't in the entire week I observed, which I said and B: I said I wasn't in my group either. That was rather the point of our manager asking us to observe and report. Sorry the truth hurts. Work isn't a popularity contest, lady, and this has no basis on your employment record/standing, also advised to us at the outset. So...tf are you so upset about?

Also, COVID needs to be over. Wear your damn mask. IDC about your whining about your rights. It isn't about survival rate, it's about not overwhelming emergency workers, infecting vulnerable populations, and unknown long-term effects on your body. Sorry the government demanding you to be mindful of others, since so many people can't do it on their own, infringes on your rights to be a dickhole.

In other news, my car put up a bunch of warning icons because the gas cap wasn't fully screwed on. SO glad I brought it in for that.

EQ2 has an ingame calendar where they mark days part of an event with decorated borders.
the other day i discovered that they also do this obnoxious thing where they mark the days the events end at 2am as part of the event.
and now my interest to quest in it has died because my excitement gland has decided to throw a tantrum and play the silent treatment over the fact that i can't finish my building project based on items from this event for another month because i thought "oh i've got 3/5ths of it done today, i'll just take a break and finish it tomorrow".

I didn't get the job. After the last interview, it didn't seem like I was exactly what they were looking for so I figured I wouldn't. What sucks is my BF's family is convinced I should get it and keep saying I'm exactly what they want.
