Rose is adorable! I love rabbits' noses. They're so small and fuzzy.
I have a DA account where I mostly post photography, but I also post pictures of my babies.
https://www.deviantart.com/jmilana/gall ... fur-babies The solid black Flemish Giant, Chunks, is not mine, but I love her anyway. I consider her the "auntie" of my babies. I like to think she watched over them until I adopted them. I have no idea what breeds mine are, though. I got them from a pet store, not a breeder. I know you're not supposed to do that. But I swear, I didn't choose to adopt some random rabbits! I made a connection with both of them over time.
See, nobody wanted to adopt Pearl because the employees warned people all the time not to touch her because "she bites." I touched her anyway (when the employees weren't looking), and she never bit me. Instead, she gave me kisses.
She's my little sweetie. But anyway, she was 7 months old, and nobody would adopt her, even when the store reduced her price by half. She only seemed to like me, and she was terrified of any other human contact. To this day, she's afraid of rubber gloves (which is what the employees would always wear to clean her cage). I assume they mistreated her, but I have no proof. She will even growl at me if I'm wearing gloves, almost like she's having an episode of PTSD or something. Usually, though, she is so gentle. I can literally hand feed her pellets, one at a time. She's patient and trusting with me.
I didn't know Minnie for quite as long as I knew Pearl, but I was allowed to hold some of the baby bunnies (she was only 3 months when I adopted her), and she was my favorite. She was so tiny but so brave. When I picked her up, she climbed right up my shoulder, trying to get a good look at everything. She's very curious and loves to explore.
I knew from my limited research that bunnies are very social and should be together with other bunnies when not around their humans, so I decided Pearl would be happy with some company. I brought them home at the same time but kept them separated, thinking I would introduce them later. That night, my cousin Sandy called me (she had heard I adopted bunnies from my dad) and warned me that, if they were both female, they would probably kill each other if left alone together. Guess what? We took them to a vet the next day, and they were both female! As time went on, even after they were spayed, it became more and more clear that they hated each other. They share a play area (they wouldn't if I had literally anywhere else to let them play, but I don't), and Pearl spends some time every night sniffing out Minnie's scent and then peeing on the rug wherever she finds it. It's my sister's rug, but she doesn't care because she loves the bunnies too much. My mom, on the other hand, absolutely hates it when Pearl pees on the rug. I...don't know how to stop her, but I think my mom is the only one who cares. It's a very cheap, easily replaceable rug, and if I have to pay to replace it, I will. It's not a family heirloom or anything. Minnie is much less territorial, luckily. She won't start fights with Pearl, but she will fight back if provoked, so I never leave them alone together. God, I hope she'll be okay.
UPDATE: Minnie is doing much better this morning! She has been eating and drinking all night and all morning. We are going to drop off her stool at the vet (we asked if we could do that, and they said yes), and they are going to check for parasites and bacteria. Hopefully there won't be anything, and it was just a case of inflammation of the bowels. I would rather not bring Minnie in unless it's absolutely necessary, as it's extremely stressful for her.
