Well, here's a handy dandy time zone converter for those who need one.

Yeah, Daylight Savings Time is a butt that way. It'll revert to EST in November when Daylight Savings ends in November and we fall back an hour.
But sounds like you're in the same Time Zone as MS anyways (unless there's *another* Eastern Time Zone I don't know about).

There's the Australian Eastern Time Zone (Australia Central as well) and several others with Eastern in the name.

I've several family in one state that doesn't shift, and a dear friend in another. It means they're an hour behind the daylight savings equivalent.

The time zone is the Eastern Time Zone in this case, and yes people who are in that area are always in that area. But some places in the Eastern Time Zone may not go to daylight savings, in which case they are not in EDT when daylight savings is in effect. As an example, my Arizona friend, while living in the Mountain Time zone, is currently in MST. MDT never applies to her because she is never in daylight savings time, and if you try to convert a time from where you live to where she is by changing it to MDT it will actually be the wrong time.

tl;dr: The shift of calling a time zone DT vs ST is not solely determined by which time zone they are part of.

...I never said it was? I know it has to do with whether or not Daylight Savings time is being observed or not. I *literally* said that.

Then my comprehension error. When you said you were in the same time zone, I thought you meant since you are both in the Eastern Time Zone, you were both at the exact same time regardless of whether it was called EDT or EST.

Unless you literally meant you and the original comment both lived in the same state/province/close area, so you know that the person who made that does experience daylight savings, which would also be something I failed to understand.

My 14 year old grandpup went over the rainbow bridge last night ...daughter said he was still sorta warm when she got home from work but he just couldn't hang on any longer. Is rough on me and her and even worse for her hubby and stepson....had been a family member for 14 years (since he was a puppy)...and was pretty much a brother to the son...had been a part of the family before he was born.

Me and Teddy going for a walk was always a hoot - he was starting to have trouble walking and I have occasional balance problems...we sometimes looked like a pair of drunk sailors on a rolling boat. Gonna miss my little bud that's for sure.

And their other 3.5 year old dog started having seizures in May...thought we had those under control then they started in again last week...not been a good week to say the least.
