I want to go shopping so bad. I miss walking around stores.

But I'm an at-risk person with my health history and I can't even chance it.

At least my credit card bill will look nice this month :/

Same here. Had 19°C on Saturday and now it's snowing.
Nature is wild these days.

Good thing I went out last week to pick up the LoK comic that was on hold for me at the comic store. B/c I just got an email from them that they're having to close b/c of the whole 'only essential business stay open'. They were hoping to remain open but no.

we sympathise, it sucks not being able to do something you love or enjoy. for the walking around stores, do you know what are the things you enjoy most about it? can you replicate them with some other action?

for example, if it's the walking around seeing stuff you love, are there more secluded walks you could go on, with different kinds of things to see? back when we were mobile (i.e. not bedbound), we used to enjoy things like exploring local roads and alleys and seeing what people had growing over their fences or similar, or when we were really young and energetic we loved going on countryside rambles and exploring nature in wildlife reserves with walking trails.

or if it's the viewing of merchandise you enjoy, or picking and choosing things, can shopping online offer similar opportunities? or can a friend or someone go for you and take you with them on their phone? we personally have done that with our sister, because we can't go out ourselves normally anyway. so she'll chat with us on IMs while she's at the shop, and take photos of the items for us, or videos of walking around looking at the shelves, so we can decide which items we want and let her know. it's very helpful!

or if you love the people-watching, are there places you can do that from a safe distance or through a screen? perhaps there's a livestream somewhere of town-square-cam or coffee-shop-cam, or of some important landmark or event where you can see the crowds come and go? we remember there being a goat-cam for the swedish gävlebocken around yule that showed the flow of people and traffic around the giant goat.

as non-mobile disabled folk, we also use computer games and online games that simulate the activity we're looking for. those can be very useful when you can't do the activity in the physical. obviously it's not the same, but it can really help in situations where the other options are depression or cabin fever or similar.

other things we do include distracting ourselves if we can't fix the problem, finding other things that bring us joy and make life good from different directions, or exploring new ways to meet our physical and psychological needs with different kinds of activities. for us personally there's also the option of getting used to the situation enough to stop noticing it, but that's more because our situation is long-term. some folk can ignore things that bother them even if the change is recent, but not everyone can do that.

and of course there's the thing you've already done - talking about it somewhere. expressing yourself or sharing, finding some empathy or support, or just venting all help. we sometimes vent in private about our situation because we feel freer to say whatever we want when the only people listening are each other, but we know most people don't have the luxury of a being part of a community of supportive headmates the way we are. we're not sure how well private venting works for people who are alone in their heads, but we've heard it can still be useful sometimes.

maybe it's something we haven't thought of, or a combination of everything, or some other option. whatever the case we hope you find something that helps, whether it's a replacement or distraction or a new way to find fulfillment or something else entirely. we know that feel all too well, and we're old hands at dealing with it, so we thought we'd drop in here in case we could help at all. <3
