If you get a bezoar, no folklorist or mythologist on the jury would convict you for the perfectly justifiable homicide you would commit.

Those things tend to an inch round at the smallest.

The "shiney" ones that you can buy online are actually manufactured - animal fur and stomach bile rolled around until firm, then polished. But real Bezoars do exist and they are both roughly textured and much larger than harry potter would have you believe. Some of the ones that have been found in cows and horses have been large enough to drill out and turn into shot glasses. We're talking hardened hairballs the size of an apple.

This is the worst time for me to have a cold, dammit. I have the bestseller meeting on Thursday and if I'm not there to advocate for Canadian/indigenous stuff, they choose like, 4 nonfiction books by the biggest name authors and ignore the rest.
If you see me posting nonsense, give me a smack and tell me to go write.

Doing home visits with a doc today, and it's surprisingly quiet for late flu season among the elderly folks this week. It's been a little difficult, as we've lost a few of my favorite patients since I last went on rotation with this doc, and seeing their spouses in the halls by themselves hurts my heart quite a bit. It's good to see everyone though. I'd like to apply for a more permanent schedule on in-patient care, assuming ER doesn't explode anytime soon.

Where do people get off telling others what to do with their own property?

You see this everywhere. From fans telling writers that *their* interpretation of a work is as or more valid than the writer's intention, due to they're the consumer (that Death of the Author horseshit for a writer/painter/whatever who is still alive). From people decrying rich folks spending their money on a Lamborghini instead of the Red Cross or high tips (while I agree charity is a GOOD thing and that people probably should help other people, it's not charity if it's expected or forced through pressure and you having to live on tips because of the American system of pay is not their fault nor should they be required to tip you if they don't like your service). From contractors telling my bank what we should require as documentation before we will pay out insurance proceeds.

Is it yours? No? Then stfu.

I'm very sorry to hear that. That's one of many reasons I can't be in medicine of any kind. I cannot handle others' in pain.

^ THIS.

I get into this sort of discussion with patients' family members all the time. It's ultimately the individual's decision. Sit down and hush up.

And, honestly, as hard as it is... I love what I do. It took one ER nurse to save my life and turn me around. If I can do the same for one person in my career, it will have been 100% worth it.

I swear it sounds like my upstairs neighbors have stilettos on just walking the length of the apartment. I just complain online. I don't feel like I have any place to complain in person. They aren't intentionally being loud, these apartments just suck when it comes to noise. The walls and floors/ceilings are so thin.

I get what your saying. But my question is, is there such a thing as a good apartment where the walls/floors/ceilings are pretty soundproof/noise reduced? What do they do for that? How the hell can I get that or what do I look for next time (in case I move/sell)?

We live in our apartment/condo and we are first floor and my neighbors upstairs above me have kids and they run around and tumble on things and sometimes they play loud asf music early in the mornings on the weekend. Though to be fair, it's not every day and I cannot even say it's that often, but it does have the annoyance factor that on the particular day they do decide to play loud music, it always happens to be on a day that I didn't get much sleep at all. I freaking hate when that happens :srsly:

The biggest issue is these are all wood-laminate floors. If it was carpet, I wouldn't hear a thing. My last apartment had carpet in all the living rooms and bedrooms. There's not much that they'll do about noise reducing, which is why I just whine online and deal with it. Thankfully, these people are only loud during the evening hours. I never hear them in the mornings or at night.

Man, MRIs are so freaking L O U D. I was already aware of the "clanging on an anvil" sound, but not the lasers! Lots of pew, pew, pew! I like to imagine that I was in a Star Wars movie during that. Some of the other sounds also sounded like blaring fire alarms sometimes. No amount of earplugs were going to block out those noises lol.
