Where do people get off telling others what to do with their own property?

You see this everywhere. From fans telling writers that *their* interpretation of a work is as or more valid than the writer's intention, due to they're the consumer (that Death of the Author horseshit for a writer/painter/whatever who is still alive). From people decrying rich folks spending their money on a Lamborghini instead of the Red Cross or high tips (while I agree charity is a GOOD thing and that people probably should help other people, it's not charity if it's expected or forced through pressure and you having to live on tips because of the American system of pay is not their fault nor should they be required to tip you if they don't like your service). From contractors telling my bank what we should require as documentation before we will pay out insurance proceeds.

Is it yours? No? Then stfu.

It's been a little difficult, as we've lost a few of my favorite patients since I last went on rotation with this doc, and seeing their spouses in the halls by themselves hurts my heart quite a bit. It's good to see everyone though. I'd like to apply for a more permanent schedule on in-patient care, assuming ER doesn't explode anytime soon.
I'm very sorry to hear that. That's one of many reasons I can't be in medicine of any kind. I cannot handle others' in pain.

^ THIS.

I get into this sort of discussion with patients' family members all the time. It's ultimately the individual's decision. Sit down and hush up.

And, honestly, as hard as it is... I love what I do. It took one ER nurse to save my life and turn me around. If I can do the same for one person in my career, it will have been 100% worth it.

I swear it sounds like my upstairs neighbors have stilettos on just walking the length of the apartment. I just complain online. I don't feel like I have any place to complain in person. They aren't intentionally being loud, these apartments just suck when it comes to noise. The walls and floors/ceilings are so thin.

I get what your saying. But my question is, is there such a thing as a good apartment where the walls/floors/ceilings are pretty soundproof/noise reduced? What do they do for that? How the hell can I get that or what do I look for next time (in case I move/sell)?

We live in our apartment/condo and we are first floor and my neighbors upstairs above me have kids and they run around and tumble on things and sometimes they play loud asf music early in the mornings on the weekend. Though to be fair, it's not every day and I cannot even say it's that often, but it does have the annoyance factor that on the particular day they do decide to play loud music, it always happens to be on a day that I didn't get much sleep at all. I freaking hate when that happens :srsly:

The biggest issue is these are all wood-laminate floors. If it was carpet, I wouldn't hear a thing. My last apartment had carpet in all the living rooms and bedrooms. There's not much that they'll do about noise reducing, which is why I just whine online and deal with it. Thankfully, these people are only loud during the evening hours. I never hear them in the mornings or at night.

Man, MRIs are so freaking L O U D. I was already aware of the "clanging on an anvil" sound, but not the lasers! Lots of pew, pew, pew! I like to imagine that I was in a Star Wars movie during that. Some of the other sounds also sounded like blaring fire alarms sometimes. No amount of earplugs were going to block out those noises lol.

I'm not super claustrophobic, and I've done plenty of full-body scans, but for some reason when I was put in the MRI machine, I started to lose my cool. They gave me a thing to squeeze if I couldn't take it, and I was so dang close to squeezing the shit out of it. They bundled me in at a funny angle so one of my arms started to fall asleep, and I thought I was having some sort of attack, lol! It just went on and on and on.

I keep talking about my nonexistent shop, which I've been planning for, for some time. I'm trying to iron out how many posts I'll make, and which sections and graphics go on which posts before the shop is officially open. I got halfway through that before I decided I didn't like the color scheme of the header images I chose. I picked another one, but now I have to make a credit post for it, and hop on a free editing site to make the headers all over again, then put them all in an image hosting site so I can get codes. And that's all the aesthetic, easy stuff. I have to sort through hundreds of creatures and set up who goes where, what sort of lineage they have, etc. And then I decided to go through my entire Order tab and set of prices for each possible offspring, since I just reread the rules and you're not supposed to conduct any of the pricing via PM like I had done a handful of times. I've learned, now it's time to apply that info.

I don't really have to do any of this, but like, I'm proud of my shop and my ideas. I want the effort to be reflected in the outcome.

Was it medical or for research? Different protocols can sound different. Also doing DTI can make subjects think they're falling through the table.

Boy, oh boy, do I dislike working the maternity ward. It's not the ladies, it's not the babies, it's not even the worrywart husbands that won't get off my ankles every time their wife's IV chirps to be changed.

It's the fact that they'll randomly rip me, an overnight ER nurse, out of my already struggling trauma unit and plop me on the dayshift without a break in-between. I understand that the hospital is understaffed and all of the messes that come along with that, but damn does it hurt getting home at 6am after a 11-hour shift... just to find out your supervisor is back on his malarkey and you've got enough time to shower, change scrubs, and feed the dogs breakfast before you dump the teenager at the bus stop on the way back to work. On the fair hand, he gave me the next couple of days off and then I'm on administrative for a couple of days.

But still. I'm fucking dying exhausted.

Walking by radiology scares the piss out of me on days where MRIs are seemingly the only thing on the schedule. Also, our radiologist and his RNs have major sticks up their butts, so I dislike that wing on premise.
Hope everything went alright!

Medical. I had an MRI done for my pituitary gland. Also not sure what DTI means, but I never felt like I was falling through the table. Now THAT would be a scary experience in a claustrophobic space... :t-O_O:

*Edit: I feel like a better analogy to those blaring noises sounded more like the emergency broadcast system (at least the alarm used in the USA)
