The sounds of clanging in the distance, fire lighting the sky, children wailing in pain and screaming for their mothers and fathers. A raid, she’d heard of them happening to other villages before, but never thought they’d be so close to them. Yet now they were right on their doorstep, and her feet were frantic. Scrambling and rushing as fast as she could carry herself. It was just a half hour they were gone. The chieftain was completely oblivious to what had been going on around them and now they were paying the price. House canopies burning down around here, whole structures collapsing under their own weight.

More screaming and parents running with their kids away from the area. Beastmen warriors, men and women alike arming themselves with their crack hammers and wooden clubs. Nicole’s own weapon drawn as they rushed towards the center of the residential area where her house was. A silhouette in blood red cloak, overlooking a man sprawled against the ground, and two children behind him. Slow confusion, then haunting realisation, fear, pain, agony, and despair.

Finally, fury. Unbridled rage absolutely overtaking her form and she screeched ungodly so. Calling out to the harpies and heavens themself for help and vengeance. Tempests filled the air encircling and ripping the cloaked man to shreds in an instant, four different colored harpies taking off as soon as they finished their assistance. “No…Vayne wake up!” A pained and tear stricken voice from the woman dropping to her knees and bringing the white haired man into her lap, and children closer.

“WAKE UP! You fought for this! Wake up!” A hiccup and tears choked back, a weak hand pulled up and gently caressing her cheek. “Stay with me!” More calling out, a blood stain left as the man couldn't even utter a word, and his arm fell to his side limp. Rain setting upon them and washing away the blood dripping down on her knees and muddying the stain on her face, as she wailed, calling more harpies to the area than most could ever see in a giant nest in the mountains. Two protecting the children nearby, the rest, committing slaughter on anyone holding a weapon, friend or foe alike, the screeching of harpies and screams of men almost drowning out her wails through the night.

It wasnt supposed to be this way.

They were supposed to be happy now.
I haven't been on in a while, but i enjoy writing short stories and roleplaying. I very much enjoy feedback, so if you ever have any on my stories, i'd love to hear it. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
