Ten Dragons Shop

Post by PKGriffin »

Comissions are temporarily closed.

I'm selling some recolors of these sprites I made of my Dracanus vulcos dragons (yes, I know that isn't actually Latin). You can either get the freebies I have in the Adoption Box, or order your own custom version. Flat recolors are easy, so those are the cheapest option, but I will also add patterns or change around small features (horns, feathers, tail tips, frills) for a small fee. You can ask for any variation of the dragons I have here. I can change any of the colors, make them partially transparent, give them spots, stripes, extra horns, whatever you like.

If you want to raise dragons, you can buy eggs or hatchlings. Eggs take about three days to hatch, and hatchlings take about five days to reach adolescence (this may vary depending on how busy I am). Eggs are 40g, but the only thing you will know about them is the subspecies; all colors, patterns, and features are random. Hatchlings are 60g, and will give you some indication of your dragon's colors and patterns, but not their other features. You can request that your hatchling to be a particular type of dragon or unknown. You may only order up to five dragon eggs or hatchlings per day. You can request as many adult dragons as you like.

You can also breed dragons if you have adults. Dragons can breed with other subspecies, but the offspring will all be only one subspecies (i.e., no hybrids will be produced). You can breed your own dragons, in which case you must provide the codes for them, or you can breed one of yours with a stock dragon, in which case you only need to provide the name of the stock dragon. It costs 300g to breed a dragon -- but you may end up with more than one viable egg. Use the form on the Breeding Grounds page below.

Dragons

The cost for any recolor is 300g. Adding a pattern is another 300g, and adding a feature is 500g per feature.

Hatchlings and Eggs

Hatchlings can be any color, but they will all have the same basic shape, regardless of the subspecies.

ImageImage

Dwarf Dragon
Image
These eggs are the smallest, hardly bigger than those of a goose. Each is pale violet speckled with countless other colors.

Quicksilver Dragon
Image
These eggs are very light and cool to the touch. They are silver with bronze tips, and their shells are highly reflective.

Cliffside Dragon
Image
These eggs are rough like stone and balanced so they will not easily fall off the edge of a cliff. They are all brown with gray flecks.

Coastal Dragon
Image
These eggs have an unusually waxy texture, designed to repel water. They are very bright blue, almost iridescent.

Equatorial Dragon
Image
These eggs are smooth and have a thin, delicate shell. They are each different colors and seem to change with shifting light.

Glidewing Dragon
Image
These eggs are light weight and thin-shelled, but far stronger than they appear. Each one of them is pale tan and bears no distinguishing marks.

Sandstorm Dragon
Image
These eggs have thick shells, and even in the hottest or coolest times of the day, seem to remain the same temperature. They appear dull at first, but are colored an iridescent gold, which gives them the appearance of a mirage.

Plateback Dragon
Image
These eggs are the size of small boulders, and the heaviest and toughest by far. They are all dark gray, though they will turn darker, and their shell will grow thinner just prior to hatching, so the young dragon within can escape.

Scalemail Dragon
Image
These eggs are hard, but their surface is slippery, smooth, and almost silky to the touch. Each eggs is generally dark, but with an iridescent sheen of some brighter color like blue or green or purple.

Emperor Dragon
Image
These enormous eggs are warm, almost hot to the touch. They are brilliant gold and catch the light so as to appear to glow with an inner light.

New! Items

All dragons like to have a hoard of treasure, but some have a better idea of what 'treasure' is than others. You can buy several things for your dragons' hoards here, and if you choose to give them to one of your dragons, something unusual might happen.

Image
This is the skull of an unknown dragon. The bones have magic in them, and perhaps could turn your dragon into something different...
Price: 500g
This item will change your dragon into a different subspecies.

Image
This is a vial of dragon venom. It is common knowledge that dragon venom is flammable, so perhaps this will give your dragons an edge...
Price: 400g
This item will produce fire effects for your dragon.

Image
These books will appeal to the more academic dragons. One of them appears to have information on genetics...
Price: 400g
This item will tell you the genotype of your dragon and how each gene reflects your dragon's phenotype.

Image
This is a shell from a far away sea. Shells are symbols of good luck and fertility in these regions...
Price: 300g
This item has a chance of giving you more eggs in each breeding.

Image
These beautiful crystals shine in many colors when you move them about. Perhaps their magical properties could give your dragon a new coat...
Price: 200g
This item will allow you to recolor your dragon.

Image
Dragons love reflective gold, and this pile of coins will do nicely. The larger a dragon's hoard, the better it is at attracting a mate...
Price: 100g
This item will decrease the waiting time for a pair of dragons to produce an egg.

Image
This collection of stones and flowers seems to have a mixture of abilities. Some of these objects you know can change a dragon's genes, for better or worse...
Price: 50g
This item will have a random change on the genes of your dragon. Their appearance will not change, but their ability to pass traits on to their offspring will.

Image
This is an old eggshell made into a sculpture as a centerpiece for your dragon's hoard. It appears to have some magical properties, perhaps relating to eggs and hatchlings...
Price: 30g
This item can freeze an egg or hatchling.

Image
This is a leg of beef. Dragons love to eat raw meat off the bone, and it is said that beef helps dragons grow quickly...
Price: 20g
This item increases the growth rate of hatchlings and eggs.

Image
This medallion has ancient runes on it which promise to reveal your dragon's genes. With this information, perhaps you could make copies of the same animal...
Price: 20g
This item will reveal the genetic code of an adult dragon. The code will be saved, so if you ever want to breed a clone dragon, you can.

Image
This is a pile of garbage. The dragons don't seem to mind, as long as it is shiny. Oh well, perhaps you might find something useful in here...
Price: 10g
This item allows you a small chance of finding a different item.

Image
Hmm, well this is odd. There appears to be a lantern among the items here. It releases an unusual sort of magic capable of turning back time...
Price: 10g
This item will reverse any changes made to a specific dragon.

Colored Examples:

Emperor
Dracanus vulcos imperialis
Image
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
ImageImageImageImage
These are the largest of dragons, known for their battle prowess and great ability to command and lead others. They are called Emperors as they often are at the heads of packs, advising or directing other dragons using their keen minds and imposing size. As juveniles, they often love flying around, but as their wings grow more slowly than the rest of their bodies, adults are usually too heavy to become airborne and must find other ways to spend their time. These dragons may live to great ages, many hundreds of years or more, and are widely respected among the other subspecies. Their venom spray becomes a vast orange column of fire.
Scalemail
Dracanus vulcos armorvas
Image
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Often considered the wisest of dragons, Scalemail dragons are noted for their beautiful, but tough armor of flat scales, as well as their excellent memories. Like Emperors, these dragons are unable to fly for their great weight and small wings, but they are easily capable of protecting themselves on the ground. They fight only when necessary, however, and prefer mental puzzles to physical challenges. Scalemail dragons are often found advising pack leaders, and may take up the role themselves in some circumstances. Their flame is purplish-blue with an almost silvery sheen to it.
Plateback
Dracanus vulcos carpara
Image
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Platebacks are the most common large dragon, and the sort most people imagine when they think of dragons. They are the heaviest flyers, equipped with large wings to engage in brutal aerial battles and an impressive set of jaws that can snap a horse in half. Platebacks are not well-known for their intelligence, often categorized as warriors or guard dogs among dragons. Most of them, however, will not readily fight except to defend themselves or those they care about. These are among the most dedicated of dragons, mating for life and adopting others into their families. Plateback dragons form strong bonds with human companions, and will fight to the death defending them. Rather than breathe fire, these dragons spray a highly corrosive liquid from their jaws.
Sandstorm
Dracanus vulcos ciraerea
Image
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Sandstorm dragons are a large desert variety, and one of the two subspecies of dragons to have feathery wings. These dragons are solitary, but form tight, long-lasting bonds with family members. They have excellent memories and are one of the most adept fighters among dragons. They will not engage others unprovoked, but when they fight, they fight hard, short battles. The blade on the end of their tail is weighted on the edge, and may in some cases be used as a weapon, but is more often used to deflect blows so that their forward-curling horns or powerful claws can deal damage. Their long wings make them graceful flyers, but slow to maneuver in mid-air, so they prefer to remain on the ground unless they must travel long distances. Sandstorm dragons breathe a white-hot flame which can burn all creatures, even other dragons.
Glidewing
Dracanus vulcos albatra
Image
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Glidewings are excellent high-altitude flyers that can soar for hours, and even days without tiring. Their extended wings are unique among dragons, in that the wing reams are shorter than the limb bones, allowing the dragons to easily lock their wings in place without expending much energy. Their deep, barrel-shaped chests house double-folded lungs that can process air at high altitudes. They are known for their aloof personalities, although can be surprisingly sociable among a few close friends. Glidewings are one of the more intelligent subspecies, though they seldom like to show it. Much of their time is spent memorizing the layout of the ground beneath or when night falls, mapping the stars above in their minds. While they may be one of the most adept long-range flying dragons, the odd proportions of their wings give them very wide turning circles, and landings and take-offs can be difficult. The latter usually end in the dragons face-planting themselves into the dirt -- all the more reason that their lightweight skeletons are especially strong. Glidewings shoot bursts of flammable venom from modified teeth in their jaw, producing jets of flame that reach a hundred feet or more.
Equatorial
Dracanus vulcos pranvaris
Image
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
These are the rarest of dragons, often shrouded in myth. Some legends pin them as dragon gods, capable of raising mountains and burning entire seas. The reality of these creatures is somewhat less impressive, though they do sport an interesting range of abilities that border on magic. Equatorial dragons are one of the two feathered subspecies, but their shorter wings allow them more maneuverability in their native forest homes than do those of the Sandstorm Dragons. Equatorials are usually solitary or live with their mate, and tend to seek out the company of other dragons only on rare occasions. They are the only telepathic dragon, and use this ability to communicate with other dragons in their range. Their ability to communicate with other minds allows Equatorial Dragons a limited influence over other animals, allowing them to calm or rile other creatures, even to the point of making themselves seem invisible in the eyes of other animals. Despite their impressive mental abilities, Equatorial Dragons are fairly fragile and neither have a breath weapon or powerful venom, unlike other dragons. Their long fangs may look impressive, but their length is designed to allow their relatively weak venom to enter the bloodstream of their prey more quickly.
Coastal
Dracanus vulcos ampherious
ImageImage
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Coastal Dragons are one of the most common of the subspecies, due in no small part to their active proliferation. These dragons are known for having a high fertility rate, and a social demeanor that allows their large families to stay together for generations. Coastal Dragons are often considered carefree and lackadaisical, both of which are reflected in their love of flying and swimming. These dragons have simple gills on the sides of their neck which allow them to take in oxygen directly from the water, allowing them to dive deeply and swim around underwater as long as they please to chase after fish and other aquatic treats. They range considerably in size and shape, some shorter than twenty feet when mature, and others rivaling Sandstorm Dragons in size. For this reason, Coastal Dragons may occupy a number of roles in their pack, whether leading, surveying, hunting, teaching, or getting in the way of other dragons. Despite their energetic natures, these dragons are not as harmless and fun-loving as they first seem; many of them suffer from genetic abnormalities and few live past the age of fifty, while most other subspecies can reach well over a hundred years old. Fights are common among these dragons, and although they are resilient to their own flames, most other dragons fear Coastal fire with good reason. Their bright-red flames are self-oxygenating, so they will burn long and fierce and are very difficult to put out. Coastal Dragon fire can even burn on water.
Cliffside
Dracanus vulcos mystarsis
ImageImage
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Cliffside Dragons are one of the more distant of the subspecies, preferring company of their own kind to that of other dragons. While some dragon packs may contain all ten subspecies, those with more than a few Cliffside Dragons tend to be uniform. These dragons get along with the other subspecies, but their culture, mannerisms, and even the dialect of their roars and growls are different enough that they do not often interact unless they grow up around the other subspecies. These are the most acrobatic of dragons, capable of using their tightly-webbed wings to turn corners on a dime and fly easily around the most difficult of terrains -- useful adaptations in their mountainous habitat. Powerful winds do not seem to faze these dragons, and they seem to enjoy flying in rough weather, even taking on vicious hurricanes and storms with delight. Lightning is a constant threat during these storms, but Cliffside Dragons have a waxy coating over their scales that insulates their body and draws electricity along microscopic copper deposits running down their spines. They can use this ability to conduct electricity as an aid to their breath weapon; Cliffside dragons produce a venom spray which causes small explosive reactions on contact with air and triggers a release of electrical energy stored in the atmosphere. At high altitudes, and especially in or just before storms, Cliffside dragons can use their venom to provoke powerful electric shocks. These do not have quite the same power as natural lightning, but the impressive bolts can cause substantial damage and harm nearly any animal alive. For this reason, other dragons give unfamiliar Cliffsides a wide berth.
Quicksilver
Dracanus vulcos svitern
ImageImage
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
Quicksilver Dragons have light, durable bones and sleek bodies which allow them to slip through the air effortlessly. They often fly like sparrows, darting low to the ground or high as they please and speeds that would challenge the concentration of even the most skilled aviators. Most of them have flexible bone plates at the ends of their tails which allow them to make these sudden turns, though at their highest speeds, these dragons can do little but fly in a straight line. If they can muster enough speed, the design of their scales allows a pocket to form around their bodies for insulation, and pushes particles of air out of their way, all but eliminating air resistance as they fly. When such a thing happens, the Quicksilver Dragons fly faster than even sound, and a deafening shockwave follows in their wake. They can only do this for a few minutes at a time, but it allows them to cover great distances with ease. Despite their remarkable physical design, Quicksilver Dragons tend to be less elegant when interacting with other dragons. They have very short attention spans and adopt an almost childish demeanor whenever something upsets or excites them. They can be very affectionate, especially toward humans, but other dragons tend to have little care for Quicksilvers. Some people consider them the least intelligent of all dragon subspecies, but for this, it must be said that their ability to calculate distance, speed, resistance, acceleration, and other concepts well beyond the capacity of other dragons is uncanny. Their breath weapon is seldom used for defense or hunting, though it has interesting properties. They spit a thin blue flame which burns at fairly low temperatures, and because of weak neurotoxins in the venom, it feels almost cold. The fire it still hot enough to burn, though, and may damage the skin long before a person begins to feel the effects.
Dwarf
Dracanus vulcos primatus
ImageImage
Spoiler
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
The so-called Dwarf Dragon is indeed the smallest of the dragon subspecies, though the name is somewhat misleading as their bodies are the size of a grown man's. These are the most common dragons by far, often forming their own little packs to hunt and bring down prey larger than themselves. They are highly social, and occupy several smaller positions within larger dragon packs, often those involving hunting or scouting. They have fairly small wings, and most cannot sport powered flight, but their light weight allows them to climb easily and glide from tree to tree, or safely down steep cliffs and mountains. Sometimes they may be seen parachuting off of tall rocks for the fun of it. What they lack in flight capacity they make up for in ground speed; although slower runners than Quicksilver Dragons, Dwarfs are light on their feet and able to cover a great deal of ground in a short time, if motivated. They are the only fully-bipedal subspecies of dragon, though they can run on four legs if they must. These little dragons are the only subspecies not large enough to bear an adult human, though they might carry a child on their backs. Dwarfs are chatty dragons with highly musical voices, and their ringing songs can be heard all throughout the mountain forests where they dwell. Dwarf Dragons have a particularly potent venom which can kill most prey items if properly injected. The venom is also slightly corrosive, so their coppery-green fire can rust metal if given a bit of time.

Hatchery and Breeding Grounds

Outside the caves where most wild dragons breed is a grassy knoll where you and others have decided to raise your eggs and hatchlings. The eggs are placed near a warm fire and tended by caretakers and adult wild dragons. Some adolescents live here too, and in time, you may come to train, ride, and breed your own dragons. For now, though, they are just babies tottering around, trying to keep from falling over their own four feet. It will take some time before they are grown, but luckily time seems to pass quickly in this place.

Adoption Box and Dens

As you wander around the dragons' caves, you spot several areas occupied by both dragons and their human companions and caretakers. There are several empty caves that you could take up, if you chose. One of these caves, though, houses a couple of adult dragons looking at you expectantly. There are no humans in their cave, only a sign that reads:

Hello there, this is the Adoption Box! These little lovelies need good homes, and I can't take care of them myself any longer, so I'm giving them away for free. Please only adopt three per day, though. Thank you!

You can't quite make out the signature on the sign.

Name Vlaise
Gender: Male

Image
Name Toby
Gender: Male

All creatures here are free, just fill out the form and use the dragon's name (you can change this later, if you like) so I know which one you want. ^.^

Please only take up to three creatures per day from the Adoption Box. Thank you.

Dens

Further down, there are several caverns tucked-away into the side of the mountains which seem to house humans and the dragons they have adopted. The entrances are much neater than those of wild dragon dens, and you can even see a few of the items belonging to other dragon-tamers like yourself. The watchful eyes of the creatures within make sure you don't wander too close!

The total is actually just 1700g. If you could initiate the trade, that would be great. I can still make some modifications to the design, if you like. I wasn't entirely sure about the three horns -- whether that meant three total or three on each side of the head -- so I can change it if it is wrong.
