if youre a writer, what literature works have shaped how you write the most? if youre an artist, what pieces do you think of the most when making art? etc

personally, for writing ive been influenced the most probably by a series of unfortunate events by lemony snicket. i read it all the time growing up and the writing style is probably pretty easy to see, lol. that and the welcome to night vale podcast/books. i also wanna say kitty horrorshow's games have affected me soooo much and made me start writing horror more. ive even started making games (nothing much, just twine text based games). primarily anatomy and some of her shorter works like lethargy hill, tenement or grandmothers garden, all of which i HIGHLY recommend if youre into horror. other games that inspire me are the stanley parable, which is my favorite game of all time (mostly the narrative style and just... the bizarreness of the story and how much it breaks the rules of games) and undertale (oh man, undertale... i remember getting to the part where the monsters talk about the history of the underground and just being floored by it. not to mention how creepy genocide was).

I write and draw, but my drawing style is definitely easier to pinpoint than my writing style.

My drawing style has been influenced namely by anime, with Inuyasha and Naruto being the main two influences from my youth. As of now, I'm definitely being Influenced by Demon Slayer, Fire Force, and even Bleach.

My writing is.... Well, honestly I would call it random. I mean, I read Harry Potter and Lemony Snicket and a lot of different books when I was younger, but I don't see any of it in my own writing. I also read fanfics a lot when I was young, and still do. All those various styles sorts just mesh together into something readable lol.

I can't really say what the greatest influences are as I find a lot of inspiration from a lot of sources. TV-shows, comics, movies, poetry, even just nature itself.

When I started out though I guess Tolkien, Star Wars, Star Trek, H.R. Giger and a load of 80's horror really inspired me. My art doesn't resemble any of them but they did inspire me to create my own style and explore certain concepts deeper.

Hi, writer here! When I was a kid, I was massively influenced by the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. I just really loved the stories, especially their settings and characters. I've grown a lot since then (I picked up the books when I was 10-ish, so over a decade ago haha) but I think you can still see the influence a bit in how I build my worlds. It was kind of a foundation, I guess. My other major writing influence is Brandon Sanderson. Specifically the Mistborn series and Stormlight Archive. I think our writing styles are similar and he absolutely influenced my magic systems. I saw how creative he was with it and it almost gave me permission to branch out myself. I guess I had the realization that I didn't have to do boring element based magic like everyone else was doing at the time. Not to say element based magic systems are bad but I think they can be limiting and get a bit stale if that's all you're reading.

For drawing, I'm still learning so I don't really have my own style yet. I'm not even good yet lol. But, Hollow Knight is a huge influence for me. The character designs are simple enough for me to be able to actually draw them and I think the backgrounds are beautifully done. So yeah, 90% of my art is just Hollow Knight fanart.

while i'm only a visual artist at the moment, my main influences are a lot more in cinema than anything else.
David Lynch, Tobe Hooper, and Satoshi Kon are my main film and photography influences,
while for traditional art; Daniel Johnston. Susan Te Kahurangi King, and many other outsider artists inspire me as I was never taught how to draw in a conventional setting.
Jean-Michel Basquiat also specifically inspired how I paint.
While I mostly draw pixel and furry-eqsue art a lot of my traditional pieces tend to fall into more unique or surreal styles so : P

Traditional/Digital artist here, with a focus on character/creature design.

I think what mostly pushed me to draw and keep drawing at a young age was Pokémon and Neopets, and it's defo the main reason I like creature design.

However, my artstyle draws (hah) mostly from old cartoons (think 30s-50s animation: rubberhose cartoons like Fleischer and Silly Symphonies, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry...), music videos (I have a knack for the colorful and nonsensical... like Yellow Submarine!) and a comic book artist called Francisco Ibáñez, which I think is the reason I tend to prefer humourous & lighthearted stuff instead of plot-heavy storylines.

I mainly like to draw inspiration from obscure (not-so-known) sources, because for some reason, I feel those are the ones that ring the most true to me. I also have a tendency to purposefully watch "bad" stuff so I can find good things in it and try to create something better out of them. It also helps me see the bad stuff, why is it bad, and how could it be improved.

As someone with schizophrenia and an animal lover, I love Louis Wain's old artworks. I highly relate to how chaotic his mind slowly became, and the fixations on specific subjects.
I also love horror artists as I use horror art as a means to cope with trauma. Zdzisław Beksiński is an inspiration both because of how he took his darkness and turned them into art, and how it inspired many rock albums years later as I am a metal lover.

I love people's art that relate to the chaos in my own mind and how I deal with it.

I think watching movies like Underworld, Lord of the Rings, Twilight, Inuyasha and so on have helped me in my fanfiction writing because I generally find it hard to find a way to make my stories blend smoothly. I simply want to get to the action while skipping alot of important details. And generally speaking, most Beta readers tend to be cruel x'D

I draw occasionally. Frankly I get most of my inspiration from browsing random Art Station profiles these days haha, usually professional concept artists for triple A games. Also a big fan of detailed and somewhat gritty anime/manga styles like Takashi Okazaki's works.
