Everybody is struggling with the pandemic and other things happening currently but being a chronic pain patient makes it even more difficult. I have the same issues but for me going offline and trying to be in nature was the answer.
I take it that is not possible in your situation.

What sort of games would you be interested in? Mainly adoptable pet games or would you also be interested in RPG's? The latter genre has much more games to choose from and generally possess very active communities.

You could open up an interest thread in the roleplay section of this forum.

As a final note on this update is a rant that me and my roommate texted eachother about gifted kid burnout and I’m sure some of you have felt it too.

I love gifted children burnout and the fact that i was forced to participate in an educational system that was so beneith my acuity that I was never challenged and therefore never developed the skills to succeed in the real world despite being held to an academic standard that schools boast. Even though I did not learn anything from being taught in a formal setting. And in addition there is a perception that gifted kids are the pride and joy of the school and family which perpetuates the idea that a child's worth is only to do the bare minimum to excell in a subpar education system while also continuously pressuring the child to make decisions about their future career choice at a young age because staying in acadamia is all they prepared us for.
ATeaWithBee’s Roommate
Go off!!!!!!!! And then when you get to real life and you can’t skate by on the bare minimum you don’t know what to do and have lil breakdowns bc you’ve always been The Best and don’t know how to handle failure or challenges and have tied your whole self worth to your academic success

I have just a couple lil thoughts...

On the topic of not being able to take notes or write because your hands hurt a lot, have you tried speech to text? It might not be the same as writing necessarily, but I feel like it might be a good way to get bulk typing done in a way that won't hurt your hands, and then you can always go through and edit as needed.

My second thought, have you ever played Magic the Gathering? If you're really into lore and great art, MtG certainly checks off those boxes. They've been printing cards since like... the 80's? I can't remember, but for a while, so the lore is extensive and interesting! It's an easy card game to learn the base mechanics for but takes a good while to really master it. Building decks can be challenging and very rewarding when you see it work the way you planned. MtG also has a HUGE and very active community. I'm sure you have a card store (or comic book store) somewhere nearby, most have weekly Magic nights, and theres regularly scheduled events. It's a great place to meet people. Cards are also not all that expensive (for the most part), and some stores will give you a free deck or some boosters if you're new. If you're not interested in leaving the house quite yet, I can recommend MtG Arena, it's free to play (with microtransactions of course). I REALLY don't recommend only playing MtG on the computer, but it can be a great way to get starting and to learn the rules.

Anyways, I feel like I'm preaching a religion, so I'll stop lol If you've heard of it already, I dont wanna waste any more of your time... but if you haven't, check it out! <3

quick edit; I did NOT see when the last post for this was lol not trying to necro... just trying to pass on the glory of card games haha
