I don't get much pressure for my childfree lifestyle. Sometimes a member of the extended family will ask me when I'm going to have a baby but its pretty easy to shake them off. I asked my mom about why she didn't harass me about it more and she said for three reasons: (1) She wasn't in a hurry to have grandbabies. (Altho my sis has provided her with one earlier this year.) (2) She suspected I wasn't going to give her grandchildren anyway. I had never played house/ dress up as a kid. I didn't carry around baby dolls. As I grew older I never dreamed of getting married or having babies. (3) It wasn't any of her business if my SO decided to have kids or not.

I stay childfree not because I hate kids. If there is any anger or dislike involved it is usually directed at the parents of the unruely child. I simply adore my nephew. The reasons I'm childfree are:

-- I am terrified of accidentally harming an infant. I don't hold infants. I have trouble even touching them.
-- I am selfish. I'd rather be playing and buy toys for myself and my SO than buying diapers, school books, and healthcare for a child.
-- I don't like feeling clung on. I need my 'me' time or I fall into depression.

I, am never ever going to have kids. They disgust me. I made the decision a while ago to not have them. I don't like the screaming, the schreeching, the drooling and they crying. I hate it all. I don't want to take the responsibility of being a parent, and I never will. I don't want to have to worry about the process, then the pain of having the child. Then worring about it's health and statistics. I don't want to have a bratty snot nose kid who disobeys you all the time and talks back to you. I don't care if it doesn't turn out like that, I still wouldn't want the child. I don't want to deal with bullies or packing lunches or enrolling them in schools, or paying for their first car, and making sure they get good grades. I also can't stand babies. I can't look at them, I can't watch them eat, I can't watch them do anything. I don't like them. I am totally child free. I am more of a dog person, meaning I would rather raise dogs.

I don't think I would ever have any biological children. For one, my genes suck. I have a very long history of diabetes, bad eyesight, and tons of other crappy things in my DNA on both sides.

But, if I ever wanted to have kids, which I think is very unlikely, I would adopt. I really wouldn't want to go through 18+ hours of labor to have a kid that pisses me off as much as I piss off my parents.
And, I'm only 16 now. So I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have kids anytime soon. Not for about twenty years. Or maybe even fourty. Yeah.

I don't want children, ever. I have expressed this to my family before and mostly gotten 'Oh yes you are you have to have children.' or 'Why would you want to live alone all your life?' Guess what? I do not have to have children the desicion is mine and I don't want them. I can't handle babies at all. They throw up, slober, and you have to change their diaper. I feel like I am going to vomit every time I am near a baby who is slobering. I cannot eat near them because they get food all over themselves and then spit it up and the mom or dad will actually eat it sometimes. It is sickening to me.

I also don't want to have to deal with the responsability of having a child. And the career path I have decided to follow will have a scheduel that has me working alot, working at odd hours, and getting emergencie calls in the middle of the night. Having a child would make that very hard. I don't want one, nor do I want several. Period.

I think that it's really funny, I wrote this post ten years ago when I was 11 years old  I am now 21 and married. And my husband and I have decided one or two children, I'm not really big on kids and the idea of pregnancy and childbirth scares me.

But I definitely see the appeal in children, we also have talked about fostering children as well.

I think that when you get pregnant, all instincts are to wake up. After all, before becoming a mother, no one knows how it is. Our parents also did not know how to be parents, how to deal with us, how to develop us.

Eh, I've never wanted kids. I think my mom has finally let go of it as a possibility. I've been saying I would never have kids since I was 13. I think now, 16 years later, she finally believes me. But then again, she also calls my cat her "grandkitty" so...maybe she's not entirely over it yet. xD

I'm 28 and I definitely don't want children, for pretty much all the reasons everyone has listed. Been sure of it since my late teens, and my sister and her demon spawn alongside my cousin and her kid have only reaffirmed my beliefs.

As a general rule, I love kids...as long as they are at least in the first grade and I don't have to take them home with me. My girlfriend and I have mutually decided we will not be having children. For her, it is a matter of ambition and comfort; she is a driven worker and constantly wants to do more and better. For me, I have very poor genetics and struggle to keep a job, ha. Taking care of myself is hard enough.

I am child-free:

I never found the "right man", either they were loving individuals who were not financially successful, or the opposite, they were financially successful but did not have nurturing personalities. By age 27 I realized that I did not come into this life to be a mom. I certainly did not want to be a single mother, I'd already witnessed too many friends struggle with that.

I was adopted as an infant, as was my older brother. I'm sure that made for uncertainties on my part. My adoptive father was emotionally abusive "rageaholic" which I'm sure compounded my issues. I certainly did not grow up feeling that men could be trusted.

I came to terms with my decision by my late 20s, yet my mom would constantly badger me about when I'd have a baby. I'd tease her and tell her that she'd have to settle with being a "grand-dog-mother", which was not what she wanted to hear!

I agree with all those of you who say that there are too many people on the planet. What would possess someone to have 6 or 8 or 10 kids, in light of diminishing resources and a possible lack of a sustainable future on our planet? That type of ignorance just baffles me
