another cascade of lava oozes down magnis, the largest volcano in voltar. deftly dodging the dangerously hot flow of molten rock and crystals, a small group of gemstone kirin prance around their home. this clan, the most elite family of alexandrite gemstone kirin, can trace its origins back to almost every major mountain range and volcanic epicenter in the world, and has chosen to settle at the base of magnis. very few creatures are able to navigate the perilous cliffs and slopes of magnis, which are covered in obsidian and other volcanic glass. this royal lineage, however, has made it their home.

aarik and elora, the heirs to the throne, are also the keepers of the family's storied history. gemstone kirin of all varieties throughout the world are naturally progenitors of the alexandrite gemstone kirin, and the various noble families to whom the clan of magnis traces its origins can all be found in a book, one whose legendarily powerful magic prevents it from incineration, located on a rock formation that juts out directly above the churning lava lake at the core of the volcano. when a hatchling passes the test of agility and strength required of all members of the clan of magnis, they are able to descend to the lava lake and touch their nose to the book, officially initiating them into the royal line.

rules
as one can tell, this family takes its origins very seriously. as a result, any member of the magnis clan must pay very close attention to inbreeding, especially because all alexandrite gemstone kirin are naturally of third generation (or 2.5) from being born of the stream. though hatchlings may be frozen as long as they are named and cared for, eggs may not. all members of the family are deserving of a name that is worthy of their noble upbringing and history.
