Moss & Tox ~ Vampires!!!

Postby ToxicFlame » May 7th, 2020, 2:11:00 pm

Place holder for title?

Lore Rules:

(The following are general rules for how vampires work in this universe, for the purposes of Moss and I, as well as anyone who wants to read our story. :D)

* Vamprisim is a disease. It can affect ANY species (animals, mythological, or human). It enhances whatever natural skills/abilities/appearances they already have. It CAN be cured, but it is a very difficult process that involves purging one's heart and the blood of a vampire's sire.

* Vampires are NOT undead. Their bodily functions (such as reproduction, aging, etc.) are simply frozen.

* Vampires CAN be killed, but not in any specific way such as burning or stakes. They are simply more difficult and more durable than the average human.

* "Turning" is NOT done by being bitten, but rather by having the victim drink blood of the sire vampire. The more people a vampire turns, the more powerful they become. Vampires can (but don't always) come from covens. Vampires that are turned generally have a compulsion to follow the orders of their sire - and all vampires have compulsions to follow their coven leader - if they have one. This, however, CAN be overcome.

* Vampires bleed black, rather than red. This is because their blood does not carry oxygen - hence, why they must prey on others' blood. Be careful when fighting vampires - because if any of their blood gets in your, through an open wound or an orifice, you can be turned. It only takes a single drop. If vampires do not feed for extended periods of time, they can go into a "bloodlust" state where they become crazed. They are both at their most powerful and most vulnerable in this state, as they can not think clearly - and may even hurt someone they care about.

* Vampires CAN have special powers, but don't usually. The more powerful a vampire, the more likely they are to have special powers. For example, high-ranking coven members or those from certain lineages may be more inclined to have special powers.

* Generalized Vampire Powers & Rules Include:
- Super human strength, speed, and durability
- Super human senses (ability to scent & hear others, specifically)
- Vampires who tend have gone a while without feeding, will have their fangs engorged and more noticeable.

Bios:

Name: "Zane"
Age: 368 (biologically 18)
Species: Vampire
Job: part-time computer engineer/tech support
Coven: Thoriin Clan (formerly)
Special Powers: ???
Character Traits: quiet, calm, contemplative, lonely, a little sarcastic, perfectionist
Other Things: Zane is a vampire who doesn't want to be, and as a result he refuses to feed. This generally leaves him weaker than most vampires who do choose to feed. For some reason, Zane has somehow managed to not go into bloodlust due to his lack of feeding; no one particularly knows what makes him different from others. Also, Zane is a severe smoker, as he claims that smoking helps stave off the urge to feed - and now he's simply become used to it.
Appearance: shoulder-length, wavy, navy-blue hair; pale skin; engorged fangs; square, rounded glasses; angular face; lanky build; slightly hunched back; long legs & fingers

Zane lazily dusted the shop counter with a rutty, old rag. They hadn't had a customer in ages... not that Zane could blame anyone. The old computer shop was uninviting at best, and a run-down slum at the worst; who knows how the heck they managed to stay open. He lazily looked up to the wall clock which was ticking by ever so slowly for all of humanity... and even slower for him. He didn't even know why he worked in this dump... Just to save face, he supposed... so he looked "normal" or, he desperately wished, "human."

When the annoying little bell over the shop door jingled, he looked up in surprise. A young man with wavy brown hair and tan skin appeared in the computer shop doorway. He certainly didn't look like a computer geek, Zane thought. But on the other hand, he looked exactly like the type of guy who would need help fixing a virus he probably caused.

"Can I help you?" Zane asked boredly, dropping his chin in his hand as he leaned on the counter. His boss would probably prefer if he greeted customers in a more "friendly" manner... but Zane knew his boss' manners were a hair worse than his own, so he couldn't be bothered to care. "I'm sorry we don't sell computers if that's what you're looking for," he said, eyeing the man up and down. "We just fix them." Well... *I* fix them... he thought callously, and he'd be lucky if he got paid half the revenue. Oh the woes of a run-away vamp with no identity...

It'd been a long day. Loads of new plants to unload (his back and shoulders and legs would surely complain tomorrow), a few remarkably tiring customers- and now a broken laptop. Or a broken system. Whatever it was, his computer was broken and he'd come this close to just... Well, the tech guys would've had a lot more work putting that back together. Although it was rather late already, Silas had decided to put his jacket and shoes back on (and proper pants) and try his luck with the run-down shop down the street. He usually just passed it by and frankly, most days it didn't really look like it was still in service anyway. But it was the closest thing he could think of and probably a lot cheaper than whatever fancy store he'd find on Yelp or Google.

So there he was, tired in every sense of the word, entering the small shop welcomed by a jingling old bell above the door - much to his surprise the store was not only still open and looked just a tad more modern on the inside, it was also manned by a guy about his age who did decidedly not look like whomever he'd imagined working here. With his colourful hair and his angular face the only thing that in a certain way fit Silas' cliche ideas of IT nerds was his pale skin and lanky build. Still he looked around ever so briefly, perhaps instinctively looking for a proper adult, someone who looked like he had more of experience and would drown him in words like graphics card and processors, neither of which he understood much - or anything, frankly - of.

"Hi," not that he'd gotten a greeting from him but Silas wasn't about to forget his manners, "I do hope you can, yes!" Oof, the employee sure did sound bored. Well, he was about to get a lot more of that feeling! "I'm not, uh-" Again, another look and indeed, he didn't see any computers on display. He shrugged. "I'm actually not looking to buy a new one. Well- at least I hope I won't have to..." He pointed at his shoulder bag as he approached. "I was browsing the internet, you know, uh, Netflix, news site, email, that stuff-" he tried to explain. "And then it just. Everything froze and then it went black? I think it shut down, I don't know-" He opened the bag and pulled out his laptop. It was old and worn and, as multiple friends had repeatedly told him, apparently an outdated nightmare or something. "I don't actually know anything about computers," he admitted. He probably made the impression anyway but just to be sure: He didn't want to deal with big words and awkward nods and having to come clean about his cluelessness a quarter of an hour into lengthy explanations. "So... how much to have a look at it? To fix it?" He gave the clerk a bright look a hopeful smile. "I really need a working laptop." Can you fix it? He didn't even dare ask.

Zane had to admit - he was slightly surprised, and impressed, that the young man admitted to knowing nothing about computers; usually people come in here pretending to know something when they actually knew nothing. At least this guy was refreshing. Speaking of which... an odd, herbal, flowery scent wafted off of him, one that the undercover vamp couldn't help but notice. Was that... pansies? No, daffodils? Bah! Why did he care? It's not like he knew anything about flowers. He ignored the smell (honestly, all humans smelled weird to him) and quirked an eyebrow at the guy.

"Eh... I won't charge you nothing to look at it. I'll just let you know what needs to be done to fix it. I might have to factory re-set it though, so I'll have to back up your stuff on another unit if that happens. Don't suppose you have a flashdrive, do you?" He looked the guy over, taking one quick note of his face, then gave a rare twitch of a smirk. "Who am I kidding? Of course you don't." He leaned on the counter, eyeing the laptop. "I've got hundreds lying around here. Don't worry about it." How old was this model exactly? Zane hadn't seen one of these in ages!

He pulled out a notepad and pen from a drawer behind the counter and slid it over to the other man. "Leave your name and number, won't you? I'll text you as soon as I find anything." For a moment, a brief glimmer of his old accent snuck out; he had gotten so used to hiding it... Still, he didn't suspect any human to pick up on it, or place it in the first place. "When I figure out what's going on, I'll give you a price and if you're not interested in it due to cost, you can just pick it back up. No charge," he explained. Technically, diagnostics were supposed to be a flat $25 fee, according to his boss, but honestly Zane didn't feel like doing the paperwork.
