"These tears aren't just from what you did or didn't do, but also from what the other members had been calling me and how they were treating me. How were you and the others, me even, to know that I wasn't really an Omega? I had no idea about my family history, and I was also somewhat in denial about you being my mate due to my status so you weren't the only one. Oh um thank you," Ronnie said and asked in both reply and what she sensed Link was feeling right then along with the statement about her smile. It seemed that since he had acknowledged that they really were mates, she could feel what he was feeling; as if their minds were connected. "Maybe a grilled chicken sandwich with mayo? I'm not a big fan of roast beef. Thank you and actually, if possible, can I sleep in the lounge instead? It might be better if I was hidden from sight from the other Betas, especially Catherine. If not then I'm sure I can deal with her not liking me," she said in reply to his question and statements regarding what she wanted and what was on the menu along with where she could sleep until she was settled in and comfortable.

She stood up from sitting down and walked around the room, reacclimating herself to it as it had been two years since she was last inside it. She knew that she would need to get her stuff from the cave, but she could get that later after she had both eaten and had gotten out of the bath. Sorry moon spirit for having doubted you and giving you a hard time regarding Link being my mate, she said in her mind as she sat down at the end and on the edge of his bed. It's okay, her moon spirit said comfortingly just as he came back out and said everything he did. She then blushed a darker pink when he kissed the back of her hand. "Thank you," she said again but this time in reply to everything he said regarding the bath and him also getting her whatever she wanted to eat for dinner.

Link listened to her, hanging onto every word, just enjoying to sound of her voice. It was comforting. “The bed is much comfier, I wouldn’t mind if you were to change your mind.I’ll make sure Cat doesn’t bother you.” He offered. He memorized her dinner request and left the room to her as he wandered to the kitchen for food.

Once downstairs, he found his favorite cook and explained the food he needed. He also asked for come cookies, extra pop, and a beer for himself. Link considered having it delivered but decided to just wait so Ronnie could have time alone to decompress. About half an hour later, the silver tray was ready to go. He thanked the cooks and whisked the tray away as he made his way back to his room.

Link set the tray down on the desk, waiting patiently for Ronnie to make her way back out of the bathroom. He settled himself onto the bed and grabbed his beer and book off the nightstand.

Ronnie nodded, not being able to help the slight pang of jealousy she felt at hearing the nickname he used for Catherine. That told her that he had gone back to her during the time that he was ignoring her. That also meant that he had also gone to the other Beta mistresses. She tried not to think of that as he left to go downstairs to the kitchen to get what she had requested for dinner, and she went into the bathroom to take the bath he had prepared for her.

She undressed, got in, and enjoyed the warm water. She used the provided soap that he left in there for her, and washed up with it afterward before washing her hair. When she was done after rinsing her hair free of the shampoo she had washed it with, she drained the tub, got out, dried off with the provided towel, and then got dressed in the clothes he had left out for her. She opened the door to let the warm air out, used the towel again to dry her hair before walking out of it, and into the room.

She saw Link on the bed with a beer and book along with the tray of food that was her dinner next to him on the desk. “Sorry. Were you waiting long?” she asked as she sat down on the other side of the bed. “Also um will the other Beta mistresses be a problem?” She asked this other question shortly after getting settled on the bed, but also tried to hide the fact that she was feeling a bit jealous and hoped that he wouldn’t catch onto that.

Link responded, “No, I didn’t wait long at all.” He then thought for a second, answering carefully, “They won’t be an issue. I’ll make sure of it. They don’t mean anything to me, not like you do. You’re my mate.” He gave her a shy smile, saying those words felt so good. “Eat up now before it gets cold!” He said to fill the silence.

Alright. You made up with her. I guess we can be friends. Just don’t f—do this up, buddy. His moon spirit said harshly. Link rolled his eyes at the comment and drew his attention back to his book. He almost felt as if everything that happened wasn’t real. It exhausted him and he hated having to hold back from touching and kissing Ronnie. He waited for her to turn his back to him as she ate her meal. When she did, he focused on her. Her body was more filled out, accentuating her curves. He quickly shook away the sexual thoughts creeping into his head. He noted how tired her body also seemed. Worn from being whipped and overworking. This thought saddened him. He ached to scoop her up and take all the hurt away. Before she noticed him, he quickly went back to his book.

“I’m glad,” Ronnie said in reply to him not waiting long with a small smile before nodding in nonverbal reply and also understanding to what he said next regarding the Beta mistresses. She then felt her heart flutter a bit in happiness when she heard what he said last about her being his mate. She smiled a bit more at that before nodding yet again to what he said in regards to eating her food before it got cold, starting to do just that soon after. She had her back turned to him as she ate the sandwich, looking around the room again.

She looked briefly over at him, seeing that he was reading before having her attention going to her sandwich afterward until she finished eating it. “So, um, did you miss me at all?” she asked curiously and a bit hesitantly before putting her hair up in a ponytail as she turned her body to be facing towards the mirror over the dresser. “I missed you. Even if I did only see you as you walked by me, it just wasn’t the same.” She put the empty plate back on the tray before getting up to put the tray on the dresser afterward.

Link hesitated for a moment, or wanting to seem desperate but then he decided to spill out all the feelings he had been holding back. “Yeah, I did, Veronica. I missed you a lot, more than I could handle. At first, my solution was sex. A lot of it since I had so many mistresses at my disposal. But then that wasn’t enough so I resorted to tattoos, itching to feel the physical form of the pain that was caged inside of me. When that started to not be enough, I started drinking to just numb all of the feelings.” He said, the words slipping out of his mouth like he was going to run out of breath from the explain. He quickly looked down and muttered, “I’m sorry. That was probably too much.”

Link felt ashamed at what he had done with himself in the last two years. He let himself go and dig a deep, dark hole of regrets that he buried himself in. “I thought of you every night….” He trailed off, closing his eyes to conceal the tears he felt welling up. “I knew you weren’t being treated well. I did nothing. And I hate myself for it.” He said, feeling cold as he said it.

He then laid down, avoiding any eye contact with Ronnie. He couldn’t handle looking at her right now; her perfect, innocent face that now carried the scars and emotional trauma that he had caused by not saving her. “I’m not proud of what I did and I know even a lifetime’s worth of making this all up to you, still won’t be enough.” He said to aloud towards the ceiling.

Ronnie listened to everything that he said, feeling a bit sad at the turmoil he put himself through while turning her attention from being on the mirror to being on him. She sat at the end of the bed so as to be closer to him and not far away as she just sat and listened. She didn’t want to judge him as it sounded like he had gone through a lot just like she had although, probably a lot less pain. When he was done saying everything that he did, she drew a bit closer to him by getting up, and sitting at the edge of the bed closest to him before leaning in and kissing him softly on the cheek. “I haven’t been whipped again since the last night I saw you. I kept my mouth shut and emotions in check so that I wouldn’t get whipped again, but the pain I felt from not being able to be near you was still too unbearable. I just couldn’t let myself feel it. I like your tattoos, and I also think they look very nice although I'm sorry for the reason behind you getting them. I hope you don’t have much of a drinking problem now that we’re back together,” she said in reply to some of what he had said before continuing.

“Well you won’t know till you try, right? It would be good for me to feel something other than being shunned and the pain from kneeling all day to clean for a change as well as smell something else other than cleaning solution.” She asked and said the things she did last in regards to him making it up to her for the rest of her life with a smile she hoped was a reassuring one.

Link listened to her words and collected them in his mind as if they were delicate pieces of glass. He felt comfort knowing she felt the same way as he did. He also felt relieved she hadn’t be whipped again, though he knew she still obtained scars from the times before. When he felt the kiss on his cheek, he couldn’t help but notice the small spark of electric it sent through his body.

When she finished her sentence, he couldn’t hold back anymore. He sat up, drawing his face in close to Ronnie’s. He tucked a stray hair behind her ear, tracing his finger down her jawline and then gently brushing his thumbs over her lips. “I really want to kiss you.” He admitted, nervous to make the first move. He moved his other hand to rest on the small of her back. “I really want to kiss you…”he repeated, before adding, “because it makes me feel as if my entire soul is lit on fire, but in a good way. It makes me feel full of life and purpose. It makes me feel something other than anger.” Link felt his cheeks get red and hot as he let out some more feelings. He wasn’t used to this and didn’t really know how to handle it.

Ronnie had felt the small spark of electricity down her back as well after she had kissed him softly on the cheek and now, wanted to feel more of it; like she was addicted to it. She also found herself not being able to look away even when he drew closer to her and started touching her. Oh, how she had missed the fleeting touches he had given to her before. She found herself drawing a bit closer to him as well, and not wanting to pull back anytime soon.

She let out a very small moan when his thumbs rubbed over her lips, and she also couldn’t stop herself from gasping when she felt one of his hands against the small of her back before hearing everything that he said after he did that action. “I do as well, and I feel the same way for all of those things except for the last part regarding you feeling anger. For me, I felt sadness and pain and being near you took all of that away and left nothing but happiness. I missed that happiness I felt during the brief time we had together and want to feel it again,” she said in reply before leaning in more and kissing him on the lips afterward as she put one of her hands against one of his cheeks and had her other one be on the back of his neck.

Link smiled at the quiet moan she let escape her lips. When she finally broke the distance between them for a kiss, he couldn't help but pull her even closer. Feeling the heat radiating between their bodies, he felt the electricity ripple through him. His moon spirit was clapping for him in his head, obviously satisfied with everything he has said. He placed the hand resting on the small of her back to be under her shirt, his cold hand soaking up the warmth against her back from her delicate skin. He smiled between kisses and his moon spirit purred, You have no clue had badly he wants you.

He then used his free hand to run his fingers through her ponytail, pulling back from the kiss to look at her. “You are so stunning.” He whispered, before leaning in to kiss along her jawline following with kisses down her neck. He then pressed his hand against her cheek to pull her in for more kisses, teasing her with his tongue.
