(Everyone will be happy in the end :) remember that!)

( This epic cooking scene, I love it xD Truly the most dramatic of introductions!)

Just because she was ‘strict’ didn’t mean that Undyne was above having fun with these cooking lessons, her wanting to teach Mira what discipline was all about just as she had done with Papyrus when he had asked her...well, kind of begged for lessons way back when.

The human girl being seriously confused by all this despite her determination to continue these lessons no matter what, she was taking in every bit of info Undyne was giving her as if her life depended on it.

‘T-this is so confusing, why is she treating cooking like a battle lesson or something??’

“That’s right! Rule number three is just to have fun! If we have fun that means this lesson has been a success!”, Undyne laughing as she knew Papyrus got it, her attention than turned back to the drive where all their ingredients were lined up.

“Get over here you two, there is a lot to learn”, Motioning at the pot of hot water bubbling away, Undyne had learned a long time ago that water was needed to actually cook pasta and that magic alone didn’t do the trick, she than looked at Paoyrus as she figured he would be happy to show this kid how he did things, “Papyrus, since your on your way to being a awesome master chef why don’t you show this kid the power needed to cook this pasta to perfection??”.

...........

Another hail of angry bullets coming from Flowey as he had no intention of letting Sans off easy for bringing these corrupt memories of his to the surface, as much as he wanted to forget Chara and everything she had done...they had done, it wasn’t easy to just forget someone that you had once looked on as a sibling.

‘She is dead! Just forget about her, the dead have no meaning to you! That was too long ago anyways, no one else remembers her so why should you??’

This human that Sans had befriended, she was just going to end up hurting him just as much as Chara had hurt him, but it wasn’t as if he cared that Sans got hurt, right? This skeleton had impeded his progress at every turn, with every reset, mocking him in judgement hall when he had failed over and over to land even a scratch on his damned grinning form.

And yet, deep down...why did he not want Sans to feel the same hurt he lived with? He wanted the skeleton to suffer yes, but humans were fragile creatures and this girl he had rescued was weak...how long would it be before she ended up like ‘her’ as just a distant memory stuck to one soulless entity?

“Your a idiot if you think she really even likes you”, His voice lower and more hurtful as he kept his distance from Sans, Flowey knew how to get to the skeleton’s nerves from all these years of torment, “As soon as I decide to reset, this will be all over, a-and I will make sure this time it’s permanent when I destroy everyone down here this time~”.

(Yes ^^)
(It's perfect XD)

Papyrus grinned as he followed Undyne over to the stove. Everything was ready for the best cooking lesson ever! And he was sure it would be the best ever, because he was hanging out with his friends!

"CERTAINLY!" Papyrus agreed happily, glad that he had an opportunity to show Mira how he cooked pasta. "WATCH THIS, MIRA!" Papyrus said with a smile, before beginning the lesson just like Undyne had taught him, giving an explanation of what he was doing the whole time. It was clear that the way he'd been taught was indeed quite similar to battle training; the proper way to create the sauce included a lot of smashing vegetables with one's fists, for one thing. Nonetheless, Papyrus was clearly enjoying every moment of it.

'THIS IS GREAT! WE'LL ALL BE BEST FRIENDS IN NO TIME!' Papyrus thought, as he moved on to the noodles. Glancing over at Mira to see what she thought of the cooking lesson so far, he hoped she was having as much fun as he was.

..........

Sans dodged the second wave of bullets, now certain something was up. Flowey wouldn't have been this angry just over Sans outsmarting him. It must have something to do with the first fallen human. Clearly, they meant more to him than he was willing to admit. So, it seemed Sans had some research to do. If Sans could figure out what was going on with Flowey, maybe he could convince him to stop with the resets and genocide runs.

Sans was tired of fighting Flowey anyway. Flowey would just reset and start it all over when Sans won. If he wanted this to end, he needed to find another way to stop Flowey.

After all, the greatest victory is that which requires no battle, right?

Sans frowned slightly at Flowey's comment that Mira didn't actually like him. Sans didn't see anything to be gained from pretending to be friends with him, so he saw no reason why Mira would be faking it. Besides, she seemed too genuine for it to be fake. Sans was far more concerned by Flowey's threat to reset and then kill everyone. If he was going to stop him, he'd have to figure something out fast.

"you sure you wanna be stuck alone with me? can't imagine that would be very entertaining," Sans asked jokingly, that being the only thing that he could think of to make Flowey think twice about resetting and killing everyone for good. Anything to buy him more time to figure out what is going on...

‘They know how to cook pasta, right? This seems a little...unorthodox’

Mira simply keeping tabs on what she was supposed to know and do in order to make pasta the way these two monsters seemed to think was the right way, the girl had no issue with Undyne putting Paoyrus in charge of examples...b-but the more she watched the more confused she got...

Did all monsters cook like this??

Smashing vegetables with fists, throwing pasta in the pot like one was trying to to spear a enemy...were these cooking lessons a metaphor for battles??

“Excellent job! Now Mira, show me what you can do!”, Undyne Keeping a eye on the pair to make sure that they were following directives, the fish lady motioned to a tomato on the counter, “Show that fruit who’s boss!”.

Mira hesitating when Undyne seemed to want her to literally smash the innocent tomato with her fists like some animal, the girl obliged as bits of the fruit splatted on all of them in the process, seeds landing in the girl’s hair as she blushed nervously.

‘O-oh no....did I take it too far?’

..........

Why had this damned skeleton brought up such terrible memories for him?? It wasn’t as if Sans knew about Chara, right? There was no way he knew about her...even Flowey himself was having a hard time to hold onto those few fleeting memories he had of the girl...

‘No, your soulless, you shouldn’t be even thinking of that brat!’

Glaring angrily when Sans dodged his bullet hell, Flowey hadn’t been aiming for the kill as much as just throwing them out of sheer annoyance towards the pun-filled skeleton for making him think of his one time sibling and best friend.

“Stuck down here with you?? Don’t make me laugh”, Flowey not vibing with the joke that Sans suggest might happen if he simply decides to kill everyone and destroy resetting in general, his small eyes seemed to darken as it wasn’t as if he hadn’t planned all this out in the past only for it to be ruined by...another human...

He dared not even think of the name, that kid being the only thing he feared more than Sans.

“I could just as easily make you suffer like the rest of them”, Trying to shake the thought of that second fallen human from his mind, Flowey wasn’t aware that Sans was stalking for time to try and figure out more about what made him so angry in the first place, “I know your weaknesses, you one hit wonder~”.

"WOWIE, YOU GOT THE HANG OF THIS FAST! GREAT JOB, MIRA!" Papyrus said, grinning. Papyrus was glad to see Mira had picked up on Undyne's method of cooking so fast; now they were sure to all be besties! This cooking lesson was going great!

Papyrus continued tossing noodles into the pot as if they were spears, just the way Undyne had taught him. This was one of his favorite parts of cooking, watching the noodles change as they cooked. It was second only to stirring the noodles as quick as you possibly could, a step quickly approaching. Papyrus couldn't wait!

After throwing a few more noodles in, he offered the box to Mira. "WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY ADDING SOME NOODLES NOW?" Papyrus was sure Mira would do just as well with this step.

.........

Seeing Flowey didn't seem to get Sans' comment, the skeleton decided to try a different strategy. Though, Sans wasn't sure what Flowey thought was going to happen if he killed everyone else and didn't reset... It wasn't like he could cross the barrier, so he basically would just be stuck down here with Sans.

Sans shrugged off Flowey's comment about knowing his weakness; it was true that Sans only had 1 HP, so if Flowey could land a hit on him, it would be over... But if Flowey couldn't land that hit, it didn't make any difference whether Sans had 1 HP or 1 million HP.

And so far, Flowey hadn't been having much success with landing a hit.

If Flowey planned on making Sans completely miserable...

...Sans wasn't going down without a fight, the hardest fight he'd ever put up.

"i suppose so," Sans replied nonchalantly, leaving unsaid the retort that he was close to figuring out one of Flowey's own weaknesses.

Now, Sans just had to figure out how to learn more about the first fallen human. Obviously, he wasn't about to ask Asgore, he figured that would be too heartbreaking for him. The queen had disappeared, so he couldn't ask her either, even if he'd wanted to. But surely there was some kind of record of back then... Maybe Alphys would have an idea of where he could look for information.

"well, this has been... enlightening. suppose i'd better be on my way, then. see ya around, flowey." Sans said. The sooner he figured this out, the sooner he might be able to stop Flowey.

Mira glancing at Undyne when she had done as the fish lady said to do and had squished the tomato with her bare fists, instead of looking angry about the mess she almost looked overjoyed in a sense, almost like she was proud of this human for actually taking initiative and crushing the fruit as she was told.

“Perfect! Doesn’t that make your blood boil?”, Undyne smirking at Mira as the girl simply nodded and continued to look to Papyrus for most of her guidance, the fish lady was honestly quite intimidating and Mira wasn’t sure what to really think of her yet.

Wiping the tomato pulp from her hair as they go started on the noodles, Mira was beginning to get why maybe the skeleton’s cooking wasn’t the greatest, this being more like a battle for speed than the love and care that she figured a good cooked meal would require.

Nevertheless, Mira wasn’t going to give up yet as she took some of the noodles from Papyrus and threw them into the pot as one would use spears, some of them clattering off into the floor as it didn’t seem the girl had the best aim in the world.

“Work on that rookie, you always have to aim for the kill!”, Undyne taking note that this kid wasn’t the best at aiming, maybe she could teach her sometime on the best way to make sure she always got the right shot in.

..........

His mind continuing to solely focus on that single name he had tried so desperately to forget about, Flowey was more than enraged at Sans for making him feel this way...no, feel wasn’t the right word, it was more of something he couldn’t quite describe....sadness? No....he didn’t experience sadness either, he was empty.

‘Chara, I’m sorry! You need to wake up, I know your in there somewhere...’

That voice, that vague memory of a child’s face, the time they had spent together...

In his anger it seemed that the sentient flower hadn’t been making too much logical sense in his threats towards Sans, him not even really having the capability to destroy the reset button if he wanted even since that ‘other’ human had fallen and escaped, his hatred for them only being matched by how he felt towards Sans.

‘Frisk, that was their name, that brat with too much determination on their hands!’

“This is over”, Simply glaring at the skeleton as he remained unaware that Sans had been trying to figure out more about the fallen child, Chara, through him, it wasn’t as if he could tell the skeleton more into if he wanted anyways, his memories of the girl not being strong enough for him to recall much as he began to burrow away, from the scene without another word.

Between Chara, Frisk, and now this new human that had fallen it appeared there was a pattern of strong souled humans who tended to be attracted to the barrier visible above the surface and inevitably fell to the underground, at least two of those humans being destined to save monsters in time in a way they didn’t even understand yet.

Papyrus grinned as Mira began throwing noodles into the pot. Though her aim was a bit off sometimes, Papyrus was still impressed by her willingness to give the monsters' method of cooking a shot. "YOU ARE DOING VERY WELL THOUGH!" Papyrus added after Undyne spoke, not wanting Mira to feel discouraged.

Papyrus cleaned up the fallen noodles, then smiled at Mira. "NOW WE NEED TO STIR THE NOODLES! WATCH CLOSELY!" Papyrus began stirring the noodles as quickly as he could, clearly having a great time. "THE FASTER YOU STIR, THE BETTER IT TASTES!" Papyrus explained, quoting something Undyne had told him during his first ever cooking lesson. It was something he'd taken to heart.

Miraculously, none of the water or noodles came splashing out of the pot as Papyrus stirred the noodles with surprising speed.

.......

Sans let Flowey leave after getting 'the last word' as the flower seemed so fond of doing, more focused on trying to learn more about the first fallen child. For the mere mention of them to cause Flowey to react like that... They might very well be the key to stopping Flowey from going through with his threats.

Unbeknownst to Sans, in a sense, they partially would be... But not in the way he or anyone else was expecting.

Sans immediately took a shortcut to Alphys' lab once Flowey was gone, knocking on the door with the hope that he would be able to find some answers here.

Even if she felt awkward with this cooking lesson there was no denying that Mira was having great fun with learning the way Papyrus and Undyne cooked pasta, it not even being similar in the least to how humans did it so carefully.

Did all monsters cook like this though? If so the human had the feeling there were a lot worse things that just putting too many peppers in a pot that could happen, Mira deciding to get rid of that kind of thought as she just wanted to focus on having a good time with her new friends.

‘No more worrying about the small things anymore, you need to be more confident!’

“Got it!”, Nodding as Papyrus explained that the faster one stirred the better a dish could taste, Mira took mental notes to try this on her own sometime to see if she could replicate it, “May I try?”.

Undyne seeming to be surprised with the fact that Mira wanted to take on the role of such a serious task so early on it n her training, she shook her head as this girl didn’t have enough willpower to stir the pot with the same vigor Papyrus had, “Watch and learn kid, your time will come soon enough”.

..............

Meanwhile back in Hotland, Alphys really wasn’t expecting anyone to drop by today as she had studied through the night and had taken pages upon pages of notes about human history and magic, her lab being scattered with sheets on the barrier, the various power levels certain areas had, and more info on human souls than one could even count.

To put it simply, the lab was a mess and so was she, Alphys not being the most organized of scientists out there clearly as she shuffled about doing her daily work in addition to her studies on humans.

‘Nothing I’ve found even adds up to making sense on why she can’t get through! This barrier is supposed to keep monsters is but I guess they didn’t take in account-‘

A knock on the lab door puzzling the Dino though from her thoughts as she went to answer it, seeing that it was only Sans brought a wave of relief as she half expected it to be that human having wandered all the way back here like a lost dog in search of answers on how to get home.

N-not that she saw Mira as a animal though, of course not! Humans were as smart as monsters obviously despite their differences!

“Is everything ok? I-I didn’t know you would be dropping by today”, Alphys obviously flustered as she invited the skeleton into her lab, she didn’t really enjoy others dropping by when it was this messy and she was clearly in the middle of a busy day, “Is it about the human? Is everything alright with her??’.

Papyrus was glad to see Mira was taking an interest in stirring the noodles; he felt kind of bad when Undyne said to wait. "MAYBE SHE CAN TRY, JUST FOR A BIT? PLEASE? SHE MIGHT SURPRISE YOU, UNDYNE!" Papyrus said hopefully. Papyrus believed in his new friend; he was sure she would be able to keep up with his quick paced stirring if she tried!

Even if Undyne refused, Papyrus figured it wouldn't hurt to let Mira try it herself back at the skelebros' house after the lesson. After all, she'd taken to the other steps quite well, Papyrus felt she should have an opportunity to try this too.

........

"oh, mira's fine, don't worry! it's something else. a bit of an... extra research project, you could say." Sans said hastily, not wanting Alphys to worry. Noticing she seemed busy with her own research, he added, "sorry if now's a bad time. i can come back later if that would be better." Sans knew Alphys probably didn't want any visitors when she was busy, and felt bad for not calling ahead... This just seemed like something important.

If it could stop Flowey, it couldn't wait. Who knew when the talking flower would decide enough was enough and reset? Then Sans would probably never find out what was going on.

If Alphys was too busy to help, Sans would just have to think of something else. Who else might have the information he needed?

There was also the question of how much he could reveal when explaining what he was researching. After all, Alphys or anyone he went to instead would think he was crazy if he said he was trying to stop a talking flower from killing everyone! Anyone would think that was ridiculous.

Maybe instead he could say he was trying to research how humans acclimated to life in the Underground? Then Alphys would just think he was trying to figure out if there was anything else humans needed. She'd assume he was just trying to make the adjustment smoother for Mira.

Yeah, that was probably a better idea.

Undyne knowing that this was all supposed to be fun combined with a serious cooking lesson so that Mira here could get the ropes on how to make epic pasta, she seemed to be reluctant to let the girl stir yet, it being a big responsibility in her eyes that shouldn’t have been taken lightly no matter how much Papyrus wanted to let her try it out.

Maybe this little human wasn’t as weak as she thought though? Nah, she wasn’t exactly tough, but she w a s letting Papyrus mostly lead this lesson today...

“Ah, fine...go ahead, but don’t burn yourself, kid”, Undyne relenting as she really could do for a surprise with Mira seeing as the girl appeared pretty weak in her eyes, The human huffed as she took the spoon from her skelefriend to prove her wrong, stirring the pot of noodles aggressively just as she had watched Papyrus do the same.

‘I’ll prove her wrong! I-I can do it as well as he can!’
.........

Alphys always being more than welcome to have help in the lab from capable hands, there unfortunately were not that many like minded monsters in the underground in regards to science and she was left to do these studies by herself most of the time, the fact that Sans had shown up actually being a good thing as she could use all the help she could get right now.

“No no, now is as good a time as any, tell me what you have on your mind”, Alphys still shuffling around the lab and doing this and that as she had little idea that the sentient flower she had created had been causing havoc for who knows how long for the underground, if she had been asked directly about Flowey’s origin the scientist would have assumed it had turned to dust back when she first injected it with Determination, not turned into the scourge of the underground.

Truthfully, Sans was one of her more trustworthy research partners down here, Alphys having shown the skeleton the machine she had been working on for months because she knew he wouldn’t tell anyone else. If someone like Asgore found out about the unauthorized project she could be in deep, deep trouble even if she wasn’t it’s original creator.

Papyrus smiled as Mira took the spoon and began stirring the noodles. "YOU CAN DO IT, MIRA! YOU'RE DOING GREAT!" Papyrus called out encouragingly. Papyrus was sure she would impress Undyne with her skillful cooking. Papyrus was having a great time cooking with Mira, and hoped that Mira and Undyne were enjoying the cooking lesson as much as he was.

Papyrus still watched carefully to make sure Mira wouldn't accidentally burn herself in her efforts to stir the noodles as quickly as he had. It had taken quite a bit of practice for Papyrus to get as good at it as he was, and he didn't want Mira to feel too much pressure to get it perfect immediately; that was how mistakes were made.

..........

Sans was relieved to hear Alphys didn't seem to consider this a bad time. As urgent as stopping Flowey felt, he didn't want to inconvenience her with his research project.

"well, uh, i was thinking it might be a good idea to research how humans acclimate to life down here. so, uh, i was wondering if there were any records around here from when the first fallen child was living in the underground..." Sans said, hoping Alphys could point him towards some information that would help him figure out what was going on with Flowey.

Though, Sans wasn't even sure that any records from that time would be able to tell him that. After all, as far as he knew, Flowey wasn't around then... Or if he was, he was keeping a very low profile. So this might turn out to be a waste of time... No. Sans couldn't give up this easily. Until he had a better plan, he needed to follow any lead he could find.

Otherwise, Flowey might hurt everyone again, and Sans definitely didn't want that to happen.
