Hanna blindly rushed through the woods, twigs and branches snapping beneath her paws. She had no idea where she was headed, but knew she needed to keep on going, for now she was being followed! Strangled sobs escaped her as she stumbled and fell down and lost all consciousness. She moaned softly as she woke. She reached for her head, touching the growing lump on the back gingerly. Canting her head she listened closely, to see if anyone was there, but heard nothing.

For a few hours, it was quiet and Hanna nursed her wounds from her fall until a snapped twig startled her back to reality. Hanna’s heart thundered, scared and excited as she glanced upward, expecting to see Yakumo, and to her surprise she saw instead another Vita, a boy about her own age. He stood still for a moment, like a deer caught in headlights, and then finally wiped the look of fear from his face and smiled. "Hello," he said simply.

His smile was bright and sincere, and it made it hard for her to be rude to him. "Uh… hi," Hanna replied lamely, still staring at him. ”Was it you that was chasing me?” He walked towards me, leaning against a nearby tree. "I'm Oriel," he said. "What's your name?

“Hanna” I replied, His smile broadened, and a blush spread though his fur. "To be honest, I knew that. I've seen it written on the stars. I've been watching you." The way he said it, though, was flattering, and caused her to look down. “Why?” Hanna asked. But Oriel would not say, he just shook his head a little, and cared for her. “Rest, I will be back for you later with some food”..

And so he returned with food and drink and helped nurse Hanna in his den. The days turned into weeks and she soon forgot why she was out in the woods to begin with. One especially hot day, they decided to follow the creek, as it poured into the river down the tiniest of waterfalls. Oriel jumped gracefully down it, but Hanna failed miserably in her effort to follow suit, flopping into the river and floundering below the surface. As she struggled to get her head above water, a warm, comforting paw found hers and Oriel pulled her to the surface. He let her go once she was safe and she immediately longed for his touch once again. He was gentle and kind.

The next thing Hanna knew, his warm, paws were pulling her toward him, and their noses met. Hanna was hit with a flood of intertwined emotions - surprise, delight, fear, excitement, nervousness… but the climax of them all was a feeling of pure bliss. Hanna then realized in that moment the entire friendship had been building up to this. Oriel took her into the den once more and beneath the trees and starry skies they mated. No more chasing dreams for now Hanna had her own dream come true.
