Wha's wrong with April? Marina can understand, she doesn't like nandis either

Slightly confused by who is saying what, but I think I figured it out okay. You might want to denote who is saying what, but maybe it's just me

Chapter 30 - Festive

After another few days of traveling, the marvelous city of Voltar was within sight. It was silent as the magi rode on the unicorns through the desert, April having caught up awhile ago. Gentle lights of dawn began to creep across the horizon, tinting the landscape a soft milky blue color as the sun stretched its rays. "Well, there's Voltar."

Rynu grumbled, black hair falling into his face. Amalthea huffed a breath and trotted faster, eager to reach the city ahead. April smiled, patting Thiazi encouragingly to get him to gallop a little faster. Zach did the same with his earth unicorn, Lir and Amalthea traveling farther ahead. It didn't take long for the group to approach Voltar, trotting into the city after convincing the guards that they were harmless.

"Hey look! Phoenix Flames Inn - let's rent two rooms and stay there for the day." April pointed to a tall building that was constructed of stone. Two phoenix statues resided outside, their figures sculpted perfectly and their touch cool and smooth. The water magi dismounted Thiazi and left the others to chat as she wandered inside.

The building was beautiful on the inside, a gorgeous koi fountain spewing water being the first thing April saw. Murals were painted on the walls everywhere, from phoenixes flying overhead to vanil and ashen shaas tending to their young in burrows. It took a few moments for April to remember what she had originally come into the building for, but she quickly found her way to the check-in desk and booked two rooms.

"So, you come from the Keep, eh?" A woman looked up from counting the gold, dark red hair falling to her waist and revealing deep emerald green eyes. Her skin was a darker color than the rest - good for protecting her from the sun's rays. She smelled of sweat, and beads were beginning to form on her forehead even in the cooler atmosphere of the building.

"Yeah, but I reside in the Callisto Islands."

"Oooh. Ya got nice weather there then, right?" The woman's dark brown lips creased in a smile as she finished speaking, folding her arms across her chest and staring at April.

"Uh, yes. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go." April sighed from the heat and turned around quickly, making her way back outside to the others.

"You take care! Don't let the hellhounds get ya." The lady called from the desk, greeting a small fire gryphon hatchling as it flew up to greet her. "Hey girl." She smiled, patting the creature gently.

The streets were filled with cheering and festive music, lights adorning every stall and building in sight. April, Pheona, Rynu, Marina, and Zach had all decided to take part in the festival, celebrating the return of Voltar's princess, Fiamma, who had recently journeyed to a sacred oasis to officialize the coming of a new ruler. She rode on a fire gryphon that was surrounded by guards, waving at citizens in the crowd and even blowing a kiss to some of them. The fire gryphons trotted out of sight, along with the princess.

"My precious people of Voltar, I am honored to become your princess and will do my best to serve you!" Fiamma called from the top of a stage. April turned to see the beautiful woman - her skin was a dark tan, orange eyes as bright as fire gazing across the streets. Reddish-brown hair fell just below her shoulders and a red bow resided above her left ear. A pendant that glowed like her eyes met a golden-trimmed orange-red dress that swept the floor as she walked. Something was different about her eyes, although April couldn't tell what.

The festival lasted for a few hours, but the group had to leave before it was over. "So, the outskirts of Voltar, right?"

"Right. Or at least, that's what the voice said."

Walk until you see the Great Volcano...you will know when you have approached it...

The voice gently blew in the cool breeze of night, echoing in the nothingness of the desert. April sighed and urged Thiazi onward, looking down at Keema every so often to be sure that she was keeping up. The telvian panther trotted along with the unicorns, but the water magi could see her panting and sweating in the harsh heat of the desert, even at night. "We'll get you some water once we stop, okay?" April promised to the creature.

After a few hours of traveling, a great mountain could be seen in the distance. "Hey guys, is that the Great Volcano?"

"I think so." Pheona looked at Marina and nodded after staring at the volcano forever. "Let's go."

I wonder what awaits them at the Great Volcano..
