Forgot to mention: the above poem is about my dresser next to my bed. Namely, the things on the dresser that I haven't cleaned off in years.

As for next to me now...



Paper curling, aging, furling
As the fan's breeze may set them twirling

Darkened eyes and slick supple scales
Below and between fur wings and tails

The lowest are sketches, more doodles than art
And for some reason the only rhyme I can think of is 'fart'

It's midnight now and a test no longer tomorrow
I'll try to use well all the sleep I can borrow...

A floppy hat that does not belong
In a place of books and learning
Really faded and blue
And really comfortable too

Borrowed or stolen, whichever you choose
It is my moms prized possession
But today I did take it
So I don't get as crispy as bacon

(So proud of this! Not the best and the rhyming is cringy but...A poem!)

Pillows, blankets, against the wall
'Tween the bed and said wall, they like to fall.
Window, your curtains softly fluttered
But against the heat of the day you're now shuttered.
Nothing else here but the bed I lay in.
Nothing else to add, and so I say fin.

What shines in the reflection of what was in the past? Whose past do you leave behind wondering just how things went so wrong? What led to the situation we currently stay, where such a thing is left in disarray, easily shattered, cluttered, messy, and covered? Was it my own hubris, my lack of humility? My insatiable greed and hunger, perhaps? Regardless, as i hold it up to my face and the light shines on it, all i see is a reflection of myself, what i used to be, what i could have been, what would be, and what currently is. Yet at the end of it, nothing has changed, and i am still just as in the dark as i was before. Maybe i should try to clean up more? Maybe i should go outside more? Maybe i should eat less? Regardless, the plates stacked up high regardless, the top one always kept clean to give some semblance of a healthy life, to mask the disgusting ness of the reality underneath.

A.k.a. I need to clean up all the plates in my room, i have 5 on a stack on my nightstand in front of my mirror from grilled cheese sandwiches and pizza binges.

Both once full
One now empty

I started with it only about a green cup, but I got stuck and added it in there (it is also beside me)

Beautiful wall, dividing this place,
