Here We Go (Again) ~~~ HG Side Story :3

Post by freakazoid »

I got inspired after staying up all night (it is now 6:57am here as i type this) about school starting in three days, so I decided to write this. April is going back to study at the Keep after a holiday break, and she's not so sure she's ready. Hope you enjoy! (:

April sighed, pulling her black and blue cloak tightly over her shoulders as she walked toward the Keep. Snow crunched under her feet, the occasional flake falling onto her face gently. Her cheeks were a rosy red from the cold, but April didn't seem to notice.

Instead she admired the beautiful colors of the leaves on the trees; they were gorgeous shades of yellow, red, orange, and brown. Winter was fast approaching, but autumn wasn't ready to leave just yet. April continued to gaze at the trees until the large wooden doors of the Keep stood in front of her. She looked at the two gryphon status calmly, not even flinching as they turned their stone heads at her before flicking their tails and allowing her inside.

She stepped into the enchanted building and was quickly overcome by a wave of heat. Students that had returned from their vacations bustled in the crowded hallways, making sure they had everything they needed for their morning class.

April looked down at her bag as a black head poked out of the hole, meowing thankfully for the warmth. The magi smiled and patted the black tienko on the head. "You'll warm up soon enough, Sadie." The tienko's ear twitched in response as the feline shrunk back into the dark grey bag.

April chuckled and looked around, seeing if she could find her friends in this mess. A flash of black hair caught her eye, and she immediately went over to investigate. As she neared the black-headed student, she grinned happily. "Rico?"

The student looked back over his shoulder and smiled, turning around to greet April. "Hey hey hey!" Rico hugged April and looked at her with brown eyes. "Where you headin'?"

"Physical Education, you?" April smiled, happy to have already located a friend.

    "Same!" Rico laughed.

"Great! I guess I'll see you there." The student smiled, hi-fiving her friend before walking forward. Now to find the central staircase... She thought to herself, weaving her way through the crowd.

April sighed in satisfaction as she found the stone stairwell, jogging in place briefly before glancing down at her bag. "You ready for this?"

Without waiting for a reply, the student dashed up the stairs, her bag flopping against her side lazily. Sadie meowed in protest from inside, curling up into a ball and covering her eyes with her split tail. April snickered and slowed her pace as she approached her old dorm. Her roommate was nowhere to be found, but the door was unlocked so April just walked right in.

It smelled exactly like she remembered it; a pleasant mixture of cinnamon, vanilla, apple pie and fresh flowers. The housekeepers at the Keep really did a good job of cleaning the place while the students were on their vacations. April took in a deep breath, closing her eyes and enjoying the peace.

She had a good feeling that this semester was going to be great.
