As many of you have noticed and reported the site has been experiencing intermittent errors that appear in the form of Cloudflare errors, Bad Gateway 502 errors, pages taking a long time to load, or refusing to load altogether, etc.

The issue affects only some users, and only some of the time, and on different type of occasions. This makes it hard to pinpoint the origin of the errors, as there is no clear pattern to how, when and why it is happening.

At this point the possible list of culprits has been reduced to roughly three, though, and closer analysis of those three possible reasons will happen after December 26th 2021. Once the root cause is identified, measures to fix the issue can be taken.

I apologize for the instability and frustration the site issues are causing and thank you for your patience while we work on getting to the bottom of this.

We are aware of the issues, and they are being looked at. We're working on getting the problems fixed, but it will take time, as the cause of the problems still isn't clear. There have been a number of fix attempts already, and all of them have worked temporarily, yet the issue keeps coming back, which means that the root cause of the problem hasn't been found yet.

The site's been better for today, and we're monitoring how it keeps behaving to see if it's just a fluke for it to run smoother, or if the latest fix measures are finally taking hold.

The lag, Cloudflare Errors as well as the Bad Gateway errors should now be fixed!

Not fixed unfortunately. I just got a Bad Gateway error while browsing forum.

I really wish it was fixed! I know this must be a pain to deal with.

Unfortunately, even with a hard refresh (thinking it could be caching) the lag and Cloudflare issues are just as bad now as they were yesterday and the day before. As an example:

When I load the 'Click the Creatures Above You Thread' the avatars no longer load at all, and I just see 'imageimageimageimageimageimage' instead of any creature sprites loading. Or half a page will load, and the other half won't. (My internet is working fine on every other site). This began happening almost all the time during the Christmas event and it's about as bad now.

Using Yarold's - as usual - lets the first 20-30 magistream creatures load usually, and then after nearly everything throws out to a Cloudflare error (as of 5 minutes before posting this).

If I do 'Embed Multiple' - Magistream won't load the sprites visually - so I might get one successful load of an egg sprite, and then say, 8 broken images. I know I can still copy/paste because the code is still correct, but I assume Cloudflare errors even on this level, or timeouts, are stopping avatars and sprites from even loading anymore.

I haven't tried using the stream yet, because I've stopped using the stream actively during this event over the last few days after getting a lot of time outs (I've been breeding instead).

There are times it works a little better than others, but it never seems to last more than about 5-10 minutes of actively using the site, and - honestly - the Cloudflare errors are often instantaneous. I got one refreshing my keep this morning (an hour ago) to see what sprites/creatures had levelled up.

Happy to get screencaps of forum threads or my Embed Multiples to give you an idea.

It seems like every page or every other page gives a cloudflare error this morning. When pages do load it's incredibly slow.

When I first opened the site I still got Bad gateway errors every 2-3 clicks and images of creatures didn't load on the Forum.
After the hard refresh (CTRL + F5) like 2-3 times, it seams to be working fine.

I'm going to try your technique of multiple hard-refreshes, fingers crossed!

Sadly it worked for just a few minutes. Got another Bad Gateway and lag.

Edit: Images are still loading properly and the bad gateway happened only once.

This seems to be my experience.

The forum and the stream etc. and general Keep stuff seems to be working pretty well - certainly better than before - maybe around Thanksgiving or pre-Thanksgiving levels.

But loading multiple links through Yarold's or the Image Free Nursery can still produce Cloudflare errors. The site is definitely not as overall laggy as before - for me personally, and right now, I want to see how it is during other hours/times as well - but I wonder if there's either a server that's getting overloaded and knocking back requests (and the more requests it gets, the more overloaded it gets), or something similar. Unfortunately, Magistream is a site designed around mass-clicking, or certainly a lot of clicking! That must make it complicated too.

Was gone a few hours, after I returned images were not loading again and the site was a bit laggy but no errors. Had to do the hard refresh 3 times again.

So it seems the issues are not totally solved but it's much better than it was.
