I was sent a trade, but my side unexpectedly vanished. I cancelled it before it went through. I’m still new here, so what went wrong? Was it because it grew up or because I moved it?

Some times a trade can glitch if it doesn't load properly. Some people have experienced sending a trade with gold, only to then discover that the gold didn't save.

A creature growing up or being moved to a different tab isn't going to make it vanish from a trade.

Do you remember what you added to the trade? Is it still in your keep?

I didn’t add anything, but they asked for this cat and it vanished? I’m looking at my cancelled trade and it’s still not there I wonder if it was there at all and it was a gift with nothing on my side, but I know it was there so it’s puzzled me.

Not sure what you mean by it vanished...if it wasn't in the canceled trade it never got added. Oh and it didn't disappear from your keep - it is in the cool creatures tab.

Thanks, although I’m still confused by it as I know it was in the trade… can trades be edited without warning by the person who sent them? Should I contact them?

No only you can edit trades and you can only do that before the trade is sent. Sounds like maybe you did click the cat to add it to the trade but if the page hasn't fully loaded you can't add anything to a trade even though you can click on it. Maybe that's what happened?
