Fiery & Feathery Fashion

Post by dancingalicorns »

Here it is! After lots of redesigning and tweaking, this is the final product:

Here's an example of what it looks like:

[*]Ashen Feathers line the entire article in places that keep the Amagnae warm.
[*]The fabric is also a rich red so that your bird is very fashionable and eye-catching.
[*]And many other features will be explained below.

Here's the full design.
Apologies if you can't read the text, but don't worry! I will explain each area in further detail.

The Components

The Chest Area:

The Ashen Feathers are arranged in a flame pattern to symbolize fiery warmth. You can also see where the sleeve connects, and that it covers the bottom of the arm too. The sleeve is anchored with a knot at the thumb of the Amagnae.

The Sleeves:

This piece keeps the Amagnae's arms warm. A long and wide strip of fabric, lined with more Ashen Feathers, will drape over the limb. To secure the sleeve, a magi must tie a strong knot with the ends provided. I'm pretty sure this design still allows the bird to fold its wings with ease.

The Seam+Back:

This is where the sweater is secured, whether with buttons or a zipper. While studying the original art, I wasn't sure if the Amagnae had spikes running down their spine, so I assumed there weren't any. If there are, buttons are probably the path to take, as they provide room for the pointy appendages. If not, a zipper would be more convenient. Regardless of which fastener you choose, more Feathers are stitched down the back. You can also see the back of the sleeves too and where they connect to the sweater.

The Leg Area:

This is another optional feature. Whether you choose to include these may depend on your bird's temperament and if they would allow you to fuss with their legs. The extra piece has 1-2 Ashen feathers sewn in to keep their legs warm.

The Tail Area:

This is the last area to fasten the sweater. It's just another button and loop which wraps around the base of the tail. It will cover where the tail feathers used to be, but bald Phoenix Amagnae don't seem to have any. You can kind of see (sorry, bad scan) the part between the two pieces of fabric, and this is due to the webbing of the wing. The buttons will be located behind where the wing meets the tail so that there's maximum comfort for the bird.

Why Ashen Feathers?

This picture sort of explains itself, but I'll elaborate a bit. I studied the descriptions of the Phoenix, Elder Phoenix, and the Ashen Feathers. Something that stood out was the Elder Phoenix's ability to control fire's temperature. I thought that perhaps the Feathers also had remanents of that power too since Elder Phoenixes are created with them. They're also very pretty feathers, which adds to the flair of the sweater.

This took quite a while, but it was very fun to design clothing. If my very curly handwriting isn't legible, then feel free to tell me and I'll gladly type out what I wrote! Thank you for taking the time to view this, <3 and best of luck to everyone!
