Oreloki's Entry- Prasinis Wyrm Ornament

This is my entry for the December contest. He's a cute little Prasinis Wyrm that hangs from the tree by his tail. He was made of sculpy, then hand-painted with acrylics (I burnt the living bejeezus out of him, so he had to be painted white again xD). The red and green acrylics were mixed with some metallic gold paint, so they have a subtle luster to them. The whole piece was then given a glossy coat of mod-podge to give it a nice finished look. I was going to tie a big red ribbon to his bum, but it looked too floppy, so I scrapped that idea. Oh well.

My inspiration was, of course, the fact that the prasinis wyrm is one of my favorite creatures. It hold a special meaning to me, as it was released on the first christmas I had with my beloved. I've long been gladdened by the sight of my mom's big huge box of ornaments that she's collected over the years. Each one is unique and most of them are hand-crafted. Some day, when my beloved and I have a family of our own, I want to have just as unique of a collection. Since we're both obsessed with dragons, I just had to make a little ornament of this guy, so some day when we manage to live together and be a happy family, we can have a christmas-themed dragon hanging in our tree every year. :t-^_^:

This is very pretty~ I'd love to do something similar, but I can't get my hands on clay anytime soon

You should look in to making some homemade clay. There are a ton of awesome cold porcelain tutorials on youtube, and you can even make clay out of simple things, like bread and glue!

I couldn't live without knowing that I have a chunk of sculpy around to get into at all times. And thank you! ^.^

I know, I've been using and trying a lot of different things. Paper, things from the nature around me and all that stuff
But they aren't as smooth and moldable xD I do best with some real modeling clay but yea. Someday
